You should start a catch and cook series of different species you catch. Maybe with recipes from the area.
Slot size is 28”-31”. I love targeting the baitfish, then catching stripers with live bait. So much fun!!
Yeah, they shrunk the slot range this season. Next year’s expected to be back to the normal 28”-35”.

Not sure when you filmed but Maine implemented the emergency slot limit May 18, 28 to 31". Please do your part to ethically protect our shared favorite fish. The poor spawning classes lately mean the fishery is in bad shape.

The ruling is to protect the poor spawn in the 2015 year-class fish as they make their way into the recreational fishery.

Love the way those River Stripers fight! I caught a few in New Jersey on the Delaware River the past couple weeks and it was the best freshwater fight I ever had! Stripers are definitely one of my favorite species also! 👍 💪 🐟 🎣

In the DMV we call them Rock Fish by far the most sought after fish. Game wardens dont even ask if you have a fishing license they go strait to your cooler to make sure u dont have illegal ( striped bass )

This was honestly one of the most well put together, to the point, exhilarating fishing videos I've seen. I love the fact that I can also share the exhilaration of striper fishing. Here in the Central Valley California they are plentiful in all the water systems, especially the delta. I love cracking them on a big spook or a swimbait

It's so good to hear praise for the high-quality fishing in Maine's coastal rivers. I have lived, worked, and fished year round here for almost 50 years, and there's no more productive more beautiful habitat. One small detail: you described our striped bass as being "androgynous," which means "partly male and partly female in appearance; of indeterminate sex." Not so much. Stripers (as well as herring, alewives, salmon, etc.) are "anadromous," which-as you said-essentially means at home in both fresh and saltwater.
I highly recommend you give the lower Kennebec river a try and then after slayin the stripers you can head up river to slam smallies off of Swan Island 😊

Topwater is my favorite way of fishing and i've always wanted to catch a striper myself. Unfortunately, down here in Texas I don't get many chances, but I can live my dreams vicariously through your videos. Great catches, this was awesome to watch!

Maine catch and cooks, totally awesome. One really good method I use on fish is season it exatcly like you did, but also melt garlic butter and brush it on the fillet, then let it cook. Then half way through sprinkle a mixture of panko breadcrumbs and a few chopped herbs on top of the fillets. and then let it finish cooking. You get a nice crunchy top. Serve with a lemon wedge on the side, it works on everything (trout / salmon / any white ocean fish / tilapia even). Love the vids, congrats on the family and can't wait to see some more content man.

Jon! Since you love stripers so much, you need need NEED to come north of the border next spring up to the Miramichi river in New Brunswick. When they're heading up the river to spawn, you can literally catch not just dozens, but HUNDREDS of these guys in a single day. I grew up on this river and would be absolutely pumped to show you around!
