Utah wants to buy and sell national forests now. Wonder who the money behind that is ?

Are they then going to ask for more money from the federal government than they already do in order to cover the cost of maintaining it?

From the mouths who waited until the GSL was dangerously crippled. Great stewards.

Ok but, can we talk about the price of state park pass being more than a national park pass?

If they are taking about Moab. It’s the people that stay on the roads that’s the problem. You can’t trust the politician, they will sell of to the highest bidder.

Why stop there? Go for the original plan of The State of Deseret.
That should keep lawyers on the gravy train for decades.🤔

Western States Public Lands Coalition's "People for the West Campaign and Western Association of Land Users, in which I was UT/CO Field Coordinator and Vice Chairman, were fighting this battle in the 1980's and to mid 1990's. We pushed for County Land Use Plans to give the locals a seat at the decision making table, along with pushing the RS 2477 that gave right-a-ways to all roads and ditches constructed on public lands by the public for public usage. 90% of old roadways across public lands were built by the general public or county and states. We did not receive the deserved public support because the crap did not hit the fan like it has today. We are not too late, but we already lost 80 % of what would have been retained. In the early 1990's the Desert News called me "The Man From Helper" when Congressman Wayne Owens and I were battling each other over how he lied about voting for miners and multiple public lands use, which caused Wayne Owens to loose his points lead and election in the US senate race to my old friend US Senator Robert (Bob) Bennitt.

Okay Utah. So explain your environmental management of Salt Lake? There seems to be a, hmmm, a pattern of extreme neglect going on with that disaster. Careless poluting is a more accurate description. And you want to do the same with another 18.5 million acres?!?😂😂😂😂😂

Sounds good, but I'm against this lawsuit. I don't want the land closed to only rich folks. Also environmental concerns through overuse. No, keep it like it is.@

The federal government should not be allowed to OWN any land. The land belongs to the taxpayers of each individual state. The federal government is TOO big. Let's get control back.

Do you think we would have any national parks or land that is open to the public for camping or walking to see nature untouched? FL sold its state parks for golf courses. 😂

The Federal government DOES NOT own any land in the United States.
Federal lands are owned by the American people. All of us. From the folks who live in the inner neighborhoods of NYC or Chicago or LA to the rural residents of States such as Utah and Idaho and Montana. Again, all of us.
The Federal Government is the caretaker/manager of those lands on behalf of the landowners: The American people.

@cohoanglervancouverwa6755 My bad. I used the wrong words. I was trying to make a point. I should have said controlled. We pay for everything, including the right to use the land but only at the governments permission. Park closes at dark. If something belongs to you, you pretty much have the right to use it at your own discretion without having to pay a fee. I get your position, but I think you missed the point.

@@No-one3649 Yes I think that we would have parks. It depends on how valuable the land is to the state and the people there. You have better control with state owned parks than federal parks. You have the direct act of voting those out in your particular state that don't abide by your wishes. With federal lands you have no direct voting right to change the land use. It appears that Yellowstone Park was established in 1872 and apparently for a very good reason and I agree wholeheartedly. My problem is that in the last 60 or so years this federal land grab has become political. Yes the federal government for all practical reason OWNS the land. We all pay for upkeep and then pay for it's use. Most people will never get the opportunity to use these parks except for those in close proximity. My contention is that if your state wants to designate a park, great do it, but you pay for it. As for the federal government NO! It's a land grab for political reasons and sometime used as such especially in the western states. I It appears the Florida golf course sale was not as you stated. It seems from the story I read that politics were involved to smear. Now it may be that this does happen but as of now it looks like the deal has not been finalized for several reasons meaning for now it's dead. The good thing is the public is now aware of any shenanigans by state officials. So in this case the people of Florida get to vote on this. If this were a Federal land grab the people in the state would not get a voice and just have to eat it. When you don't have total access to anything that the government controls it means they own it.
