Lovley little place with beautifull views of the mountians .i think its the sort of place you could sit on a nice day just to get some peace and just sit looking at the views. I know i would.thank you Irish Eyes and sue for your vlogs.take care.
I'm so glad Sue and you read the names and dates on the markers. Watching on my tablet sometimes makes it hard to see!👍Love that they put the occupation of the deceased on the markers. Had to watch this twice! Another good one.😊
This was so different to actually be able to read the names on the headstones made it special. What a lovely place, that Church looks lovely too. Thank you so much Irish eyes, blessings to you 💕🇦🇺
This graveyard and church are my favorite of the places you've explored. The sun's rays provided dramatic effect. The green hues of the grass and lichens and moss create an atmosphere along with that church. Well done.
Hi IE! Thanks for another explore. That's what I would describe as a very Anglican-looking churchyard, complete with an Esquire. I wonder if there's a story to go with the grave mounds.
@@GraveVisitations My experience here is that unmarked grave mounds are sometimes burials that pre-date the existing church on the site. My great-great grandfather has such a grave, although there is no surviving record of just which one it is.
Amazing I can't believe the way the graves are kept. Families put a lot of effort in keeping it up. I've never seen anything like this in Alabama. Our cemeteries want let you have a grave decorate like any I've seen you & Sue show. God Bless & Stay Safe
Thank you Irish eyes. A Beautiful place indeed. That head stone is called tear drop. If you noticed it's like a tear drop. There are some like that here in the states, some are mostly black. If a person died tragic or had a painful death, one might buy a headstone like this to express their grief, or for someone who had a short life. Singer Whitney Huston and her daughter headstone is like that. I've seen them in different colors. They are special made and most are expensive. ✌🕯🙏 Love, respect and positivity always. Neita james. 🙂👋.
The grave for George Taylor which had the two white cherubs either side of a glass domed memorial……those domed memorials are Victorian, and becoming very rare and valuable now. They are called an “Immortelle “ and I’ve just googled one just like it and it’s valued at £762.35. There is only that one for sale as they are so rare now, since motor lawn mowers have been used to keep the grass down sadly. Though some used to be protected by being in a cage. As a child I remember one on an old grave in our village church yard , and seeing a carved pair of white doves inside on the pure white carved flowers, I thought it was the most beautiful thing I’d ever seen! But when I went again, the glass was all broken and lay in shards across the doves. I can still remember running home in floods of tears about it, and my father coming back with me to see if it was really as broken as I’d stressed. He had to agree it was, but cleared away the broken glass, and being a Market Gardener came back with a plant cloche ( two pieces of glass about 10”x 18” clipped together at the top to form a tent shape, and used to cover rows of lettuce or such like to encourage to grow and deny rabbits a meal of young leaves! ) to try and protect the white doves and flowers from the elements a bit longer. But to me the magic had gone. I was only about 6yrs old….at a time when it was safe to go out to play and everyone knew each other. Happy days . But I’m shocked to see how rare and valuable they are now. I think it’s a shame their modern equivalent can’t be made, but using a Perspex dome instead of glass. I’m sure there are people who have lost loved ones who would be pleased to have opportunity to purchase one for a mother or other loved ones grave. They look so different and special ( which they obviously are if you bought an original Victorian one!) Another lovely grave yard with interesting characters resting there….Thankyou once again GV…love these places you take us to! 🙋♀️😘👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻💐🕊
Beautiful church and a well-kept graveyard that doesn't look like the corporate cemeteries that are so prevalent here in the states. I was wondering why there weren't more of the older graves because the church looks older. Or have they buried over extremely old graves there?
The inscription on the tear drop shaped headstone is italian - it´s the title of an aria by Bellini: "Ah! Non credea mirarti si presto estinto, o fiore..." You can listen to it here sung by Cecilia Bartoli: th-cam.com/video/HykneNVPgNE/w-d-xo.html Wunderful music by the way... Thank you for the opportunity to see that old churchyard through your "Irish Eyes". Many greetings from germany :)

Thanks Helen for the wonderful stories. It's always interesting to find the unique stones that are rare ❤️
Beautiful graveyard. Our old neighbour is buried there. He was a geologist and wanted to be buried near the Sugarloaf Mountain.

The older section is at front of church and kind of mixed at back
