I work in south LA and actually talked to a fire fighter about all the RV fires and he told me that most of them are caused because the homeless are stealing power from a nearby source and jimmy rigging it to the RV.....most RVs are made to handle 30 amps and some 50 but when the power source is not properly connected it causes too much heat and once it catches fire its too late.....they usyally find a body inside the burned RV.
So glad the guy with the cell phone waved the Fire Department in, they would have never found the giant red/orange glow and billowing smoke 😅 what a hero.
It's insane how fast vehicles burn and how hard they can be to put out. I personally never knew until I saw response videos like this one. So many things can burn at high heat in a car or truck.
It's largely due to all the plastics and petroleum based products used to make modern vehicles. When I started my FireFighting career back in the 80's vehicles were still primarily made of steel with very little else that could burn, today it's a totally different ballgame for firefighters. Similar has happened to residential fires. Most folks dont know that the primary fire load in a residential structure fire are the contents, not the structure itself. As a result of more petroleum based products being used in just about EVERYTHING today, residential fires have a much higher fire load than ever before.

Amazing the number of videos of RV fires in City of LA online. Someones entire livelihood up in smoke. Those things just arent built for full time living.
A fireman in another stream said that is not the way; a wider stream does not quench the fire fast enough and only produces hot steam. It made sense after he explained it and had examples to show; a wide stream on extremely hot metal can cause a steam explosion.
@@Greylocks Rubbish, a slightly wider stream gives you a larger surface area which means the water is absorbed more effectively which reduces the heat and knocks the fire down much quicker. Watch how much of his water is wasted because its a tight stream and simply flies through the air and is wasted. You obviously don't understand the basics as if you did you would know that if the water is effective then it creates steam.
Not sure about all those RVs in big cities. Is the availability of affordable housing that bad? If yes, accidents like this will happen a lot. One mistake with a stove and it's done.
Every Major City has derelict RV's sitting on the streets and alleyways. City Councils have condoned Unregistered, No Proof of Insurance vehicles. The occupants are not vacation travelers. They are not residence for folks working 40 hours a week until they get back on their feet. Behind the door, nefarious activities are on-going. Whether a mobile meth lab, a stash location for larger amounts illegal narcotics, (so the dealer does not get popped for a felony), These derelict vehicles are dangerous in the wrong hands. Its 54 degrees this evening, and we did not see the owners. They did not perish. Fire - - - Walk Away.

Better than living rough. LA has had a homelessness epidemic for many years, and no effort made to address it.
Strange that there weren't any other RV's or tents right up against the one that burned even though the rest of the street is packed with vehicles
