"Oooh monster" I could hear the love and disappointment in your voice. Haha, I feel ya. You definitely brought the life out of that snare. Great demo and playing. I just bought one on sale for $169. Just watching videos and getting pumped for the arrival. Thanks for the video!
Very entertaining, down to earth, and informational video. Funny, I actually ordered one earlier today, It makes me want to receive it as soon as possible.... ! The second time around, when you came back with a tight tuning on both sides, I could tell the batter side will be sweet sounding, even before you applied the Throw Off system. Then that drumming, with soul, control, and coolness...... Thank you for the video.
I have the SPL 14x8 and it is amazing. The Ludwig sounds great too I'm sure. I was between the two as well and now that I have the SPL I have no want for the Ludwig.
Thanks man for your killer review I bought this beast and I’m loving it!! Quick question what kind of head are you using on it now not in the video & when you were demoing it in this vid did you have the 42 strand snare wires underneath it?
James Bush You wont be disappointed! I got the 13x6 used but looked brand new for $99!!! Best sound I got is with the Evans genera dry head...it sound as good as my supraphonic and gets used more often so I don’t worry about damaging it
Can anyone tell me what kind of sound differences/characteristics you get with a 14x8 Drum vs like a 14x6.5? For example sake lets say the same drum,, and same tuning, what differences could I expect? Thanks!
Deeper drums produce fatter sounds. If you tune your drums lugs loose they will sound fatter the tighter the lugs the higher (high pitch) the sound. A 8” deep drum will sound considerably lower than 6.5” drum and even fatter than a 14x5” drum or a picolo snare 14x3.5” hope this makes sense dude ✌🏽
If your old snare with the stripped out lugs are Pearl type, I might be able to help you out. I have tons of lugs laying around, and some of them look like they might be the same as your old snare. Just a thought... as for the Supralite.. those are damn good drums for the money. I'm a big Ludwig fan, and these are the best "economy" snares I have come across, from Ludwig or anyone else. Good choice!
BVD Poison,, yea from the old school Bruh like me I'm in the ATL Bully surrounded by funky musicians I'm trying to get the Owner of our studio to put together a Scifer, that snare is tight sounding I turned my drummer J B on to your channel. I got some coming up soon in November and its gonna be my first Big stage bright lights and I might be emailing or instagraming you for pointers honestly I learned playing a slap riff by watching you Bro I'm better playing finger style and but I'll get the slap part down soon I'll keep watching man.
Thanks for this upload man, was looking for a great snare under $200 and somehow I saw this on Amazon. It sounds great but I want to hear it with a different head as I was expecting a deeper sound considering the depth but it sounds good just the same. Btw is that a 10" Wuhan (New) Traditional splash?? Because I've had one for 2 years so I know what it sounds like and that sure does...
So here we meet again! Last month I went looking for info on the fender Rumble 500 combo and that let me to your Channel. I got one the next day. Then a 15" Rumble cab as well. Check it out, I ordered a 3pc Pearl Decade kit from Sweetwater yesterday and been shopping for a 14x8 snare today. My first search led me back. What can I say, great minds think alike. I'm gonna subscribe just for that bro! 🤣 I had a 14×8 20 years ago, I love me some fat low snare! I'm having one again soon!
@@BullyThaKidd Thanks for the quick reply. That 8" sounds great, Guitar Center has it and the 13x6.5 on sale right now, so trying to figure out which one would be best for worship drumming.
Allen Brown 13x6 is what I went with and I LOVE it! Check out the Evans genera dry head, it adds a little dryness and let’s it breath cuz it’s hot pin holes around the rim
Great review 💯 I had been looking for demo videos on TH-cam for this snare but all the reviews were to short or did not show enough detail another thing I had been curious about is how tight it could be tuned. When it comes to snares I like them with alot of crack 💥/pop sound 🔊... I have certainly made my decision to buy this snare thanks for sharing 👍👍 Also getting it from zzounds too

Hey is that snare heavy or it's light? I am looking to get one and I really wanna know the weight
For the stripped lug, you can replace the threaded insert rather than the entire lug.
The medium tuning is killing!Bro! The best sound out of it👌
Love the flag, been a Raider fan for 44 years, top notch drumming!!!!!!

Ludwig snares are the best!!. The sensitivity when you played Ghosts notes was awesome.
I prefer this one I’m also considering the spl 14 x 8

The high tuning sounds so clean and cuts through so easily with the ghost notes
Great video! that jam tho ...... proper presentation of what this drum can do! PS Raider Nation!
Brother.I like the way it sounds.and the 42 strands makes it a lot louder.great investment.Ludwig.
Silver and black drum set and a raider fan. I like it !!
Great Video Bro!
Ha!! Poison! Nice. Haven't heard that in many years. Tasty groove there!
can't wait for this for christmas
Thank you so much for this good video. You help me alot with this video.
That snare cuts through, I like it.
@Bully Thakidd does this snare has good weight to it or is it light?
I did not expect it to go that high! dang

Sounds tight. I enjoyed your playing. I have been contemplating on buying one of these...think I will! Thank you for the demonstration.

You've had it for 3 years now. Still like it? I'm thinking about getting one.
At the beginning to tiht but after , nice! Thanks for the video bro!
🤯How come an 8x14 sounds so high!!!😍
Thanks Man by vídeo.
I have a Supralite 14 X 5. They actually have a good sound to them. Wanna buy a 14 X 6.5.

What is a rim riser for? I’ve never heard of that. 🤔
Side sticking... it makes the Crack louder. Similar to using a block
@@BullyThaKidd ah!!! Didn’t think of that. Thank you!!

Yep wuhan splash
The "deeper sound" is easily achieved with lower tuning of the batter head and setting snare wire tension properly.

Bill Biv Devoe groove at 12:50
They still $199.00 today Guitar Center, Sweetwater etc...
Thanks for the video, have you tried any of the other sizes?
yeah i like the 4.5... and the 6.5.... i just really dig my deep snare tho

@@jeffzaccaro I think you will be fine with one of the shallower snares. Most churches go between 5.5 and 6.5.
