Well done ! I appreciate the fast transition between sizes (without more conversation) so I easily can compare. The 8" sounds responsive, which is my normal concern with an 8" snare, as I like the "fatness".

The 5.5 tuned to medium does sound nice 🙂

Now this is how you edit a video. Great job, great drumming, and great comparison! Also, what is the mic setup you have for this? Sounds incredible!

All amazing sounding snare drums. Why anyone would waste their money on a Black Beauty is beyond me.

I would have to say hi tuning the 14x5 holds on the best. But they all do choke out at a higher tuning

Great review. I’ve had a BB for a long time but if I were to be in the market now, I would probably go with the Universal. Hey are a great value.

I guess they are following the Supralite sizes

For me, in low tuning 8", medium and high tuning 6.5" were best.

To my (untrained ) there is subtle difference between the 5 and 6.5 , much greater difference when going up to the 8. I didn’t expect that , could probably save a few $$ and get the 5 and have a snare that does the same as a 6.5

All the sizes are the same price. $350 for the chrome triple flanged hoops and $450 for the black die-cast hoops. I have the 6.5 with the die-cast hoops. It's a really nice drum.

Great video. Nice transition between the three. I'd take the 8" or 6.5". I have enough 5" snares. Lol. Sweet playing to. Love the zep like shuffle, and the john mayer like grooves.
