- Discussing on the book, "Being Hindu in Bangladesh"; brings out an apparently ignored reality. Hindus in Bangladesh often feel the need to downplay their identity to avoid discrimination and hostility from fundamentalist groups. This marginalization has resulted in cultural suppression. The Bengali community in West Bengal seems unaware of this situation. While the current regime in Bangladesh offers hope for Hindus, it's important to acknowledge the history of discrimination against minorities. Ignoring this history perpetuates ignorance and allows discrimination to continue.
One solution could be military protection for minority groups in Bangladesh. It is crucial that we address this clear and present danger that we face, and that the Bengalis in West Bengal speak up in support of their fellow Hindus.
About The Speakers:
Deep Halder has been a journalist for more than twenty years, writing on issues of development at the intersection of religion, caste, and politics. He is the author of Blood Island: An Oral History of the Marichjhapi Massacre (2019), Bengal 2021: An Election Diary (2021), and also "Being Hindu in Bangladesh: The Untold Story".
Devdutta Maji is a social activist and BJP member. He is also the president of SinghaBahini, a Hindutva organization founded in 2018.
Utpal Kumar is a journalist who holds the position of Opinion Editor at both Firstpost and News18. He is the writer of the book 'Bharat Rising'.

It is so sad and depressing to see the way Hindus are persecuted and humiliated in Bangladesh despite the role played by Hindus and its army in liberation of it from oppression of west Pakistan. This is a classic example of Muslims always giving primacy to religion over humanity and gratitude.

Seems the Bengali leaders especially Hindus (except Shyama da), had spelt doom on their own people, by not sending the Muslims in West Bengal to East Pakistan, in 1947, as Punjab did.

If someone believes that Hindus are safe in Bangladesh. They should check the Hindu population In Bangladesh. In 1971 Hindus were around 30% in Bangladesh. The first census of population in Bangladesh was in 1974 and the population of Hindus was 9 million and present day Bangladesh has 20 million Hindus . @@NativeVsColonial so the teachings in home in the Sikh community was more strong and imbibed in the hearts & minds of their children. The teachings favouring Muslim, Mughals and the British, did not find much space in them. On the contrary, they ventured out with courage, boldness & hard working attitude to settle and later on influence their land and countries. When I was Kid, my father used to tell history of Bengal and its greats, which remained etched in my mind till date. With this pride, used to feel hurt, being Diaspora, in non-bengali speaking areas. But what surprises me is that, the call of Hindu nation and rule, came from that great leader from Bengal, in an nonamicable Indian rule, and the same state has succumbed to the rule of nonbeleivers I.e., CPM, rather voted them repeatedly which was self-inflicting. This continued, with the TMC rule. So, the culture upbringing etc, needs to be reviewed. Although it's too late, but can spring up just before the last breath. Never fear and shy, for independence of thought, speech, self rule & religion. Remember, Muslims had made their choice in 1947 and again in 1971.

Khalistanis are hounded and finished wherever they are. Bengal could have done well if they did not vote CPM for longtime and then TMC.

@@NativeVsColonialI think this is an extreme assessment. Most Bengali students and young people don’t like oppression or fascism which political Islam can bring. The problem is the moderate center or left is vastly outnumbered by the mullahs. The Mullahs represent a large traunch of the proletariat class within Bangladesh. However, they are not trusted by the vast majority of bengalis because they are perceived as the rajakar or defectors. The lack of overt Hindu representation or the lack of acknowledgment being given to the presence of Hindus in Bangladesh is a huge problem but it isn’t because of an Islamist threat. However it is more so lackdaisical cultural development or Hindus being overlooked in the collective narrative of the Bengali nation. Hindus are not hated or under threat, however grossly overlooked and underrepresented. I would argue Indian Muslims face a clear and present threat of violence and oppression from the government in charge of protecting them.

Any change into this will bring a serious threat. 9. Sanatanis must keep in mind that each and every Sanatani life is utmost precious to us. All Sanatanis have to ensure 100% Security & Safety of Each & Every Sanatani especially Sanatani Girls at any cost by any means. We can't even afford to loose even a single Sanatani life. We can't tolerate any harm on the life of any Sanatani due to any Non-Sanatani person.

Solution is wonderful.
1. The proportionate land compensation is not a good idea. One needs the count or at least an approximate count of bangladeshi muslims overstaying in India in order to demand that. But if it is possible to identify those people, when don't we simply expel them to bangladesh? why do we need land for them? It is equivalent to remerging bangladesh and pakistan into India which will result in increased muslim population in India and will eventually make them kings from being king makers. we dont want to do that mistake.
2. Bangladesh or any country for that matter will not accept Indian military presence there. Even if they did, they will be similar to what UN was in Rwanda. So it wont work out. The NRC might be a good idea but unfortunately most of the hindus especially those come from pakistan and bangladesh, like sindhis and bengalis, they become seculars ending up supporting the very people who traumatised their own community. so something needs to be done to enlighten those kinds.
3. The temple tourism is a good idea however it involves a lot of risk. when in India itself hindus need so much protection to visit vaishnodevi, imagine about bangladesh. At least these places are alive and kicking now. But if such tourism starts we wont know what will happen? moreover the islamists might attack the hindus especially the Indians and nepalist visiting there. so if banglades can give heavy protection it might be possible.
4. all said and done, what will happen after haseena? she is already old. that's a big question.

7. paani is a sanskirt/prakrit word "pānīya" - if at all the islamists in bangladesh want to get rid of everything that is hindu, then should't they have accepted urdu and pakistan? why did they want to create bangladesh? this is a confused lot. the word desh in bangladesh itself is sanskrit! if bangladeshi islamists want sharia and want to destroy everything that keeps reminding them of hinduism, then they should adopt arabic , shouldnt they?
8, same issue with pakistan as well. punjabi , sindhi , gujarathi, etc languages have always been written in their original scripts namely gurmukhi and other scripts. but in a way similar to bangladeshis, the pakistanis got rid of all those scripts including the devnagari script and forced the nastaliq script for punjabi, sindhi, gujarathi , etc., that was the kind of hatred the islamists have for anything that is related to hinduism, even to this day. even in India , in places like tamilnadu and kerala the islamists were using arabic script to write tamil and malayalam and substituted a lot of original tamil and malayalam words with that of arabic and persian. though the scripts are no more used, they still use a lot of alien arabic persian words just like urdu speaking islamists.
9. in the 1970's if you watch the PTV videos on youtube you will be surprised to see a lot of muslim women wearing saris on even TV. as of today it has completely been eradicated. even hindus in pakistan wear islamist dresses and even keep islamic sounding names.
10. one of the first and foremost things that Modi I think should do is to stop the exponential growth of islamists in India in some way. otherwise the day when these islamists will enter every hindus' homes is not too far.
