"Centerfield" is the title track from John Fogerty's album Centerfield, released in 1985. Fogerty's first solo album after a nine-year hiatus. The song is now commonly played at baseball games across the United States. Along with "Take me out to the Ball Game," it is one of the best-known baseball songs. In 2010, Fogerty became the only musician to be celebrated at the Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony when "Centerfield" was honored by the National Baseball Hall of Fame.
Rookie baseball player: "Put me in, Coach! I'm ready to play today!" Rookie airline passenger: "Put me in coach, between the smelly fat lady and the crying baby. I'm that eager to save a few bucks."
WHY ARE YOU COMPARING BLACK PLAYERS TO BASEBALL HISTORY PLAYERS... don't forget.. they didn't do drugs.. as many of them do today.. THE OLDER PLAYERS WAS JUST SKILL....
I'm not comparing any of these people to anyone else - honest. All I've done is present what ESPN.com and CHEATSHEET.com collectively claim as the top ten centerfielders of all time. Stuff like this is strictly opinion; someone ranked #6 by one judge might be ranked #10 by another. Still, the names included in the video are generally considered as some of the very best of those who played centerfield, whatever color they are.
@@GeorgePlantisAlive Great video! If I may offer a word of advice...please don't feel the need to provide any sort of explanation to people who make racist comments like this one. Cheers!
What the heck are you talking about? The I've been a baseball fan for every one of my 63 years on this earth. Reading through each player description the first time, I saw excellent players being compared and contrasted with other excellent players. Then I went back to find what you're saying. Know what I found? Excellent players being compared and contrasted with excellent players. If you're looking at this as having a racial undertone or unconscious bias, then you're the one with the biases. I won't say I don't have unconscious biases. We all do. I won't say I'm "color blind," either. None of us are. But I when it comes to baseball, the only colors I see are those on the uniforms, not in the uniforms.
