This info. is critical to the successful use of the machine. I think it should be included in the general machine info! Especially as it differs from the thread used in traditional hand sewn sashiko! (Thread used for sashiko hand stitching is a special type of cotton thread, used with a special sashiko needle.)

No. The maximum weight thread is 30 wt. you would have a problem with the needle and latch wire if thread is thicker than 30 wt. as far as I know there are no adjustments on the bobbin which would allow thicker thread.

I own this and the book that comes with machine does state the type of thread to use.
