My dad trucked back in those days, when men trucked and did what they had to do and stay a hand. These wheel holders today will never know what it took to be a trucker!
Brother, you can't even fathom what your lyrics mean to me. I grew up in that life. My dad was an O/O for many years until deregulation killed the industry. Then he kept driving, but in the company's equipment. Even my brother and I ended up being O/ops until the fuel prices booted us out. All those old drivers are gone now. We lost dad on 12/13/14, so it's all just memories now. Not even anybody left in my life to tell the stories. So you keep writing em and I'll keep trying to learn em so the younger guys will know what it was like in the good times. Maybe throw us a tab in the liner notes, though. LOL.
Brings back a lot of memories I try to tell the young drivers about the great days of trucking I used to take my boys with me they remember a lot. Keep up the music LHP it means more than you know to old drivers.
As someone who was born and raised in the State of Alabama and grew up my whole life with most everyone in my family in the trucking business,I know and understand that all too well, myvpapaw started driving when he was just 13 yrs old and couldn't read or write so mamaw taught me how to read and write when I was about 4 and I was in the jump seat with my papaw doing his log books of "lie"" books as I always referred to them and he was always pushing weight and anything else he could get by with, but I wouldn't trade those days or years in that jump seat for nothing, now I am married to a truck driver and I have watched how the industry as evolved over my almost 45 yrs and it is a whole new world and not in a good way. I miss the old days!!!
Back in the day the gross limit was just under 73,000 pounds. 27,000 over gross would put him right at 100,000 pounds. As mentioned in kracker king pushing 50 tons through the Georgia rain. Easily done back in the day by passing the scales. Sure miss outlaw trucking . E log sucks... love the music LHP! Brings back memories. Keep them coming
Thank you for all you have given us... My friends and I listen to you everyday. There a lot of days and night your songs get me home. True music with hard lessons learned. Thank you.

Not trying to be better not trying to even compair but I understand 14-17 hour days 7 days a week all to make it all work out. Haven't made a nickle miss all my kids stuff. But there ant nothing straighter slicker or shinyer I relate to all your music fucking awesome
