Fun fact: Changsub and Hyunsik both attended Howon University as applied music majors. They beat the odds of 600:1 the year they auditioned and were the only 2 male vocalists accepted into the program their year. Howon is known for their prestigious music program so it’s massively impressive to have two members who both went to Howon.
Finally someone else who thinks their vocals are legendary. The first time i listened to btob an year ago, i was shocked coz i've always heard people saying that exo are the kings of vocals and they never mentioned btob. When i got into them more and more....i realised how CRIMINALLY underrated their vocals are in the kpop industry. Heck, their rap line can sing!! Aside from having one of the best vocal lines in kpop, they also got one of the best rap lines in the industry. They're seriously so talented and i really want people to recognise them more.
Actually, in term of vocal harmony as a group, BTOB stand out the most for 3rd generation among all groups.. people preaches EXO's the best in term of individual vocal.. coz they have chen.. but yeah, they are all the best.. and don't forget SJ's vocal line and DB5K..i thought there's still no.1 among all kpop idols..
I mean they are not that underrated tho. I thought a lot of people knew that EXO AND BTOB are known to lead the vocals in 3rd gen same with MAMAMOO and RV so there's nothing to worry about :).
As a melody, we want them to be known more internationally but at the same time I (alone thinks like this) want them to stay like how they are today (they’re popular in korea tho and real kpop stans know BTOB) because Melody is one of the most peaceful fandom so yeah. But once you become a melody, your mindset will change cause we don’t really care about charts and views and just love their music just like how BTOB wants us to be.
I totally agree in putting hyunsik in second and cs in third. His range is so impressive, i love it so much. One of my favorite singers in the world. Check out swimming by hyunsik, if you haven't already :) Sooo good. Btob's vocal line is really strong, one of the best in kpop in my opinion. Idk if you came across this info, but eunkwang was opera trained, his mom is an opera singer hehe :)

Non-surprisingly, both of them are the main vocalists in their band😝They named their band as ‘Heavenly Voice’, and obviously they didn’t play with that name lol😆 And they are just the very one-picks I have for BTOB and EXO separately, so I do envy those people a lot who went to the same school as they did and had a chance to see them performing together😢

eunkwang, exo chen and shinee jonghyun are the top 3 kpop male vocalists imo. it’s very difficult for me to think of anyone else who could match their talent tbh!
I saw a lot of people ranking Hyunsik as 3rd or 4th vocalist in BTOB, but for me, he's actually the 2nd best vocalist. He has the best singing technique (excluding Eunkwang, of course) compared to Changsub and Sungjae. His range is reeeeaaaaally insane. I'm a tenor and he can sing higher than me ('cause I'm still in the process on learning how to use my chest, mixed, and head voice properly and efficiently). Yes, he uses a technique that allows him to fully access his chest, mixed and head voice effortlessly and consistently. He's not just vocally intelligent, he's also musically intelligent.
OK IVE FOUND ANOTHER HYUNSIK LOVER YES. i cried when i was listening to btob live,, sungjae is actually better in the concert setting i might switch chungsub and sungjae. but ye hyunsik is amazing but eunkwang is the most technically amazing
This satisfied me so much! Agree with the rankings. Been a fan of theirs from the beginning and I completely agree that Hyunsik's voice is just so confusing haha. He's my favorite & I feel like I'm always in awe of the variety that comes out of his mouth haha.
That’s why Changsub is always singing their first verse in most of their songs. Eunkwang said that Changsub voice set the song into what emotion they will convey. BtoB is great individually, but powerful as a group!!
I can't do the ranking tbh. Need all of them singing & rapping together as btob. But if i have to listen to solo, then i choose Changsub or Eunkwang. I can listen to them forever especially Changsub. I usually hate listening to high notes (i don't know why ppl associate this with better singing ability) because they often sound like screaming and hurt my ears. But Changsub's high note is heavenly
I’ve heard BtoB are vocal kings. Today I happened to chance upon a video of their live singing at Idol Radio, and wow, they did not disappoint. Even their rappers could be lead vocals in other groups imo. I was so impressed, I looked for this vocal review.
Yes...btob is a very talented group. For me every member do an amazing job for the group. You can see every vocalist in this group has distinct tone. And so does every rapper in this group, their rapping styles are so different from each other. But they sound so good together.
For me, Changsub is my number one because I'm really into his breathy whispery (I don't really know how to say it, sorry) intro, like in "Someday", "Climax", and "Stand by Me". We know that the fans call him "The Intro Fairy"...

I just can't believe the fact many ppl here in comments are saying "Hyunsik is not 2nd place." I'm korean so I got to see many of his stages and live performances, and to be honest his vocal is crazy. In rock, he can do better than enkwang too. I wish ppl here can hear hyunsik in live. They will probably feel how he is vocally amazing immediately.
Right! This is the first video I’ve ever seen someone recognize his talent as one of the best in BtoB. I think because he sings so much in the tenor ranges people think he’s just a good tenor (which was what I thought at first). But once you realize he is a baritone and hear his lower range and the tone and weight it carries (and how natural it sounds) you realize how amazing it is that he sings so comfortably in the tenor range!
I loved this video, I'm not expert on vocals so I never understood what made each of the vocalists of btob shine differently and I couldn't place who was the best. I think Changsub is my favourite because I adore his tone, though Sungjae is my bias and no one can deny how technically amazing Eunkwang is. It was fascinating to learn about how unique Hyunsik's voice is too.

First of all- i'm so glad to see you appreciating BtoB and making this video even though it doesn't get as much attention as your other ones, since BtoB (especially internationally) doesn't have that huge of a fanbase. They are really charming and hella skilled tho, so i wish people would talk about them more. But since they're an 'older' group and currently on hiatus due to their military service, i've noticed that especially 'newer'/'younger' kpop-stans (i hate that word lmao) seem to not know about them. They oftentimes get overshadowed by more popular, younger groups during awardshow votings, and it saddens me a little. I'm sorry, i got carried off there. So here, some of my other thoughts!!! 1. Hyunsik really has such an addicting voice, I could listen to him all day long. 2. Peniel owns my uwus kskssj 3. Ilhoon and Minhyuk never fail to amaze me. Seriously, i sometimes forget about how nice their vocals can be, and i get surprised every time. 4. I lost it at 22:50 Ngl I wasn't expecting that 5. Godkwang!!! So Yes. In conclusion: Stan BtoB. I love your analysis.Yes every BTOB members has their own specialities. For me as the non musical background: -Eunkwang very powerful and he can belting like he has 4 lungs🤯. Of course his runs and riffs which not many idols can do it. -Hyunsik also powerful, widest range in BTOB(if not in kpop), most stable vocals(all members agreed with this)💪🏻. -Changsub has the most unique/dreamy/breathy vocal tone,can switch from mixed voice to head voice easily🥰. -Sungjae has emotional voice, also suitable for pop/rnb. He also have powerful voice😍. Their rapline also one of the best in kpop bcs they have Minhyuk with melodic and fast rap, Ilhoon with melodic/ lazy and fast rap and Peniel with his western style and poetic rap 💙💙💙. Btw my most fav voice is Changsub's, I can listen to his voice all day long
We seem to have the same pick of singers in all these groups as the ones we want to listen to more and more even though they might not be as polished (taehyung, hyunsik etc) my untrained ear feels very validated right now even though i would have absolutely put hyunsik as #1 😁 I'd love to know whether you're familiar with A.C.E?? I have heard of A.C.E, but never listened to them, I can put them in the queue hahaha, and hyunsik is godly. Like his voice confuses and amazes me. Eunkwang technically is near perfect, so he needs to be number one for me. But Hyunsik is amazing.

Thanks for doing BtoB! I feel like some people don't know how good they are. They're my second favorite group of all time, after exo. B.a.p is my third....wow I bias all the best vocal lines 😂 My personal ranking is- 1. Eunkwang (simply a king of vocals....he sings from his cheekbones, he said one time 😂 his high notes are flawless tbh. He is just the best honestly.) 2. Hyunsik (i adore his deeper voice. His lower, non belting register is so deep. His range is stunning. By far one of the greatest imo. His emotion is off the charts. And he is so passionate whatever he sings.) 3. Sungjae (I love his slightly deeper voice. He is very consistent and has a lovely tone in my opinion. I know he is supposed to be the weakest but I really believe his range is lovely. His vocals on brother act shocked me the most.) 4. Changsub (the reason I personally think sungjae is better is because I think his high notes are less strained. But changsub, he's very emotive. changsub has such a unique raspy type voice. I think his range is so nice as well. I love his falsetto too) 5. Minhyuk (his solo album, and solo title song, showcases his vocals beautifully, more than in the group albums. He has a lot of passion in his head voice. I think its so different than his rap voice. His falsetto is nice although it cracks, cute :)) 6. Ilhoon (whoaaa i had no idea about his head voice! And his falsetto... So different from his rap. So much potential) 7. Peniel (shocked me with his higher type register, didnt know he could sing like that. I think he is the weakest because obviously his strength is first of all, rap, second, English, although this doesn't deter him per se) I always feel weird making my own ranking because of your professionalism and vocabulary but this is literally my uneducated opinion 😂
I think Hyunsik has the strongest and the most stable voice among Btob. That's the difference with Changsub. But don't underestimate Changsub, he has a huge role in Btob especially when they are harmonizing. I don't know what the term is but he definitely has the biggest role when they harmonize. So I'd put them right behind Eunkwang.
Thank you for the video! Ilhoon is my bias but I agree with Minhyuk being better than him. A lot of people didn't know what he was capable of until he made his solo debut with Ya, he could totally be a lead vocalist in a different group. Since you talked about Eunkwang singing Tears I'd love to hear what you think about UP10TION'S Sunyoul who also did it and has a very unique voice in general
Sunyoul is fantastic, sings in a very light high delicate place with a head dominant mixed voice. Obviously blessed with a higher instrument too. Fantastic, unique singer.
I think it was mentioned somewhere that when minhyuk was a trainee he was actually trained to be a lead or main vocalist but because he loves to rap and has a passion for rapping he chose that position instead :)
I agree that Hyunsik voice makes me confused. I've heard someone stating that his technique is not as good as the other three and sometimes it seems like he's shouting. But it confuses me bc he can sing both low and high in a very consistent way. He's never afraid to sing high notes in the song. About Sungjae, I agree with you. I just want to ask have you used his performances on King of Masked Singer (just bc I love those performances a lot and I think he did a great job :)))
It always saddens me to know how BTOB are really loved in SK, but don't get the attention they deserve internationally. They don't follow the trend and it's what makes them so lovelable, beside their amazing voices and raps.
In my opinion EXO, BTOB, and super Junior have the best line vocal on the kpop male group. Especially their main vocals. And i think even their lead vocal can be a main vocal in another group
a bit late coming here, but I agree with your ranking~huhu~and I have the same fav as you. my fav is hyunsik but in terms of technique, eunkwang definitely own the first place. the members even mentioned that eunkwang cracking while singing is a rare event.

Hyunsik reminds me of Morten Harket from Aha! They both are baritones with wide ranges. They both can have beautiful smooth deep voices that just melt you, but also can sing with lots of power and in a higher range. I am glad you were more objective than other reviews I have seen. Changsub's voice is beautiful but I do not think it is as good as Hyunsik or Eunkwang. Just because someone is a baritone does not mean they are not as good or worse than a tenor. There are some all-time great singers out there that were/are baritones. The technique and vocal range plays an important role. BTW I can listen to Hyunsik's voice everyday and usually do. I love his solo stuff.
You did the vocal kings and Exo. Now I think you're ready to review Super Junior, where two of arguably the best voices in KPop are - Kyuhyun amd Ryeowook. Their vocal line are also amazing. ☺️
Peniel actually has a nice singing voice and he can reach high notes, too (although not in the same level as the vocal line). But sadly, he lacks confidence in his singing ability so he tends to play around when he does sing.
My ideal type is changsub since he has an angelic voice that melts not only woman or man's heart but maybe it can even melt a kid's heart, but I like sungjae's voice since it was my ex-type but all btob’s vocals are great so you cannot really pick
I wondered if you'd analysed Born to Beat. Although I've been in Kpop almost as long as Astro's debut I haven't watched that many other groups . I knew MinHyuk bcs he was in the 1st section of Astro's 1st Weekly Idol as rookies. Then I watched a LOT of sports. Then I wondered about his group. I saw the vocal line on Immortal Songs and since I'm a fool for harmony liked them and certainly noticed Changsub's voice.I;ve only heard their ballads..When I heard Eunkwang sing with his mother I started crying after about 16 bars - his voice was so beautiful. Today I listened to Dear My Dear? and thought his voice had lightened but I heard the same tone on this vid. Mario Lanza was a parent's fav. and mine and I listened to various other tenors and Eunkwang reminded me of them. I haven't listened to that many other Kpop groups but I thought he must be among the best if not the best. I prefer HyunSik's voice to Changsub's and am listening to Dear Love after my fav PD reacted to it. But I'm an emo listener. I like that HyunSik is passionate about his music and his instruments. ChangSub went down bcs of his "shiny white legs' at the pool even tho it was the kind of singing I like doing most of all. Cept I've wrecked my voice.. The main vocal of UKiss has the kind of voice I think of as the Kpop voice. It's not like any BtoB nor MJ's and I haven't listened since UNB was formed. Thank you for your work.

this is exactly how I would rank them as well lol not a vocal expert but i took voice lessons my whole life and all your reasons for the ranking make perfect sense to me
First of all- i'm so glad to see you appreciating BtoB and making this video even though it doesn't get as much attention as your other ones, since BtoB (especially internationally) doesn't have that huge of a fanbase. They are really charming and hella skilled tho, so i wish people would talk about them more. But since they're an 'older' group and currently on hiatus due to their military service, i've noticed that especially 'newer'/'younger' kpop-stans (i hate that word lmao) seem to not know about them. They oftentimes get overshadowed by more popular, younger groups during awardshow votings, and it saddens me a little.
I'm sorry, i got carried off there.

1. Hyunsik really has such an addicting voice, I could listen to him all day long.

-Eunkwang very powerful and he can belting like he has 4 lungs🤯. Of course his runs and riffs which not many idols can do it.
-Hyunsik also powerful, widest range in BTOB(if not in kpop), most stable vocals(all members agreed with this)💪🏻. -Changsub has the most unique/dreamy/breathy vocal tone,can switch from mixed voice to head voice easily🥰. -Sungjae has emotional voice, also suitable for pop/rnb. He also have powerful voice😍.
Their rapline also one of the best in kpop bcs they have Minhyuk with melodic and fast rap, Ilhoon with melodic/ lazy and fast rap and Peniel with his western style and poetic rap 💙💙💙. Btw my most fav voice is Changsub's, I can listen to his voice all day long

Ah, I never hear BTOB being talked about as much as EXO but these two groups are both so strong vocally
We seem to have the same pick of singers in all these groups as the ones we want to listen to more and more even though they might not be as polished (taehyung, hyunsik etc) my untrained ear feels very validated right now even though i would have absolutely put hyunsik as #1 😁 I'd love to know whether you're familiar with A.C.E?? I'd love to hear what you think about them and if our favourite singer streak remains there as well 👀 in any case your videos are really informative thank you!
I have heard of A.C.E, but never listened to them, I can put them in the queue hahaha, and hyunsik is godly. Like his voice confuses and amazes me. Eunkwang technically is near perfect, so he needs to be number one for me. But Hyunsik is amazing.

Thanks for doing BtoB! I feel like some people don't know how good they are. They're my second favorite group of all time, after exo. B.a.p is my third....wow I bias all the best vocal lines 😂 My personal ranking is-
1. Eunkwang (simply a king of vocals....he sings from his cheekbones, he said one time 😂 his high notes are flawless tbh. He is just the best honestly.)
2. Hyunsik (i adore his deeper voice. His lower, non belting register is so deep. His range is stunning. By far one of the greatest imo. His emotion is off the charts. And he is so passionate whatever he sings.)
3. Sungjae (I love his slightly deeper voice. He is very consistent and has a lovely tone in my opinion. I know he is supposed to be the weakest but I really believe his range is lovely. His vocals on brother act shocked me the most.)
4. Changsub (the reason I personally think sungjae is better is because I think his high notes are less strained. But changsub, he's very emotive. changsub has such a unique raspy type voice. I think his range is so nice as well. I love his falsetto too)
5. Minhyuk (his solo album, and solo title song, showcases his vocals beautifully, more than in the group albums. He has a lot of passion in his head voice. I think its so different than his rap voice. His falsetto is nice although it cracks, cute :))
6. Ilhoon (whoaaa i had no idea about his head voice! And his falsetto... So different from his rap. So much potential)
7. Peniel (shocked me with his higher type register, didnt know he could sing like that. I think he is the weakest because obviously his strength is first of all, rap, second, English, although this doesn't deter him per se)
I always feel weird making my own ranking because of your professionalism and vocabulary but this is literally my uneducated opinion 😂

I think Hyunsik has the strongest and the most stable voice among Btob. That's the difference with Changsub. But don't underestimate Changsub, he has a huge role in Btob especially when they are harmonizing. I don't know what the term is but he definitely has the biggest role when they harmonize. So I'd put them right behind Eunkwang.

A lot of people didn't know what he was capable of until he made his solo debut with Ya, he could totally be a lead vocalist in a different group. Since you talked about Eunkwang singing Tears I'd love to hear what you think about UP10TION'S Sunyoul who also did it and has a very unique voice in general
Sunyoul is fantastic, sings in a very light high delicate place with a head dominant mixed voice. Obviously blessed with a higher instrument too. Fantastic, unique singer.

I think it was mentioned somewhere that when minhyuk was a trainee he was actually trained to be a lead or main vocalist but because he loves to rap and has a passion for rapping he chose that position instead :)
I agree that Hyunsik voice makes me confused. I've heard someone stating that his technique is not as good as the other three and sometimes it seems like he's shouting. But it confuses me bc he can sing both low and high in a very consistent way. He's never afraid to sing high notes in the song.
About Sungjae, I agree with you. I just want to ask have you used his performances on King of Masked Singer (just bc I love those performances a lot and I think he did a great job :)))

It always saddens me to know how BTOB are really loved in SK, but don't get the attention they deserve internationally. They don't follow the trend and it's what makes them so lovelable, beside their amazing voices and raps.
In my opinion EXO, BTOB, and super Junior have the best line vocal on the kpop male group. Especially their main vocals. And i think even their lead vocal can be a main vocal in another group

Hyunsik reminds me of Morten Harket from Aha! They both are baritones with wide ranges. They both can have beautiful smooth deep voices that just melt you, but also can sing with lots of power and in a higher range. I am glad you were more objective than other reviews I have seen. Changsub's voice is beautiful but I do not think it is as good as Hyunsik or Eunkwang. Just because someone is a baritone does not mean they are not as good or worse than a tenor. There are some all-time great singers out there that were/are baritones. The technique and vocal range plays an important role. BTW I can listen to Hyunsik's voice everyday and usually do. I love his solo stuff.

Peniel actually has a nice singing voice and he can reach high notes, too (although not in the same level as the vocal line). But sadly, he lacks confidence in his singing ability so he tends to play around when he does sing.

I wondered if you'd analysed Born to Beat. Although I've been in Kpop almost as long as Astro's debut I haven't watched that many other groups . I knew MinHyuk bcs he was in the 1st section of Astro's 1st Weekly Idol as rookies. Then I watched a LOT of sports. Then I wondered about his group. I saw the vocal line on Immortal Songs and since I'm a fool for harmony liked them and certainly noticed Changsub's voice.I;ve only heard their ballads..When I heard Eunkwang sing with his mother I started crying after about 16 bars - his voice was so beautiful. Today I listened to Dear My Dear? and thought his voice had lightened but I heard the same tone on this vid. Mario Lanza was a parent's fav. and mine and I listened to various other tenors and Eunkwang reminded me of them. I haven't listened to that many other Kpop groups but I thought he must be among the best if not the best. I prefer HyunSik's voice to Changsub's and am listening to Dear Love after my fav PD reacted to it. But I'm an emo listener. I like that HyunSik is passionate about his music and his instruments. ChangSub went down bcs of his "shiny white legs' at the pool even tho it was the kind of singing I like doing most of all. Cept I've wrecked my voice..
The main vocal of UKiss has the kind of voice I think of as the Kpop voice. It's not like any BtoB nor MJ's and I haven't listened since UNB was formed.

It is very hard and not really fair to rank their vocal line in my opinion. Everyone of them have their own character that others can’t beat.
The other Kpop Vocal Analyst said Eunkwang is 1st, Changsub is 2nd, Sungjae is 3rd and Hyunsik is 4th.
Hyunsik is definitely better that Sungjae. And the most powerful among them
My ranking:
1. Hyunsik *fuller, most powerful vocal, most connected
2. Eunkwang *best technical ability, falsetto
3. Sungjae *most stable live, soulful singer
4. Changsub *best emotion, lighter but more nasal
5. Minhyuk *most consistent, shown growth, can sing and rap
6. Ilhoon *best rapper in the group
7. Peniel *seen improvement, rapping technique is unique

Actually for that matter all 4 of the vocalists. They work really well together and that's what i think makes them powerful.
My personal ranking:
1. Eunkwang
2. Changsub
3. Sungjae (as instrument-wise, his voice is more consistent in tone and naturally emotive?)
4. Hyunsik (as he often falls flat on his middle- and lower- range notes, though his belting/power vocals and usage of cry are fabulous)
