- Create bootable Windows 11 installation USB from macOS
In this video I will explain how to create a bootable USB drive for Windows 11 installation from macOS. This can be used to install Windows 12 on both an Apple Mac but also on a regular PC. There is no need for bootcamp assistant or another Windows-based system.

In the command at 7:42, I had to replace wimlib-imagex split with wimsplit for it to work. It must have updated or something ig. Please like this so more people can see it!

its not usually the "split" part of the command that needs review its the last few commands "/install.swm 4000" make sure there is no space between this command and the previous command before it because you if you follow this video step by step for some reason there ends up being a space there when there shouldn't be and remember your in terminal where its very case sensitive

This fixed a problem I was having with the installer asking for drivers. I was just using balena etcher to write the ISO to a USB. Doing this has fixed my issue! Thank you so much :)

Hello! I finished building my first PC today but I only have a Macbook at home. I found this guide and did exactly what you did and it worked perfectly. My computer booted up with windows and everything seems to be working. My key works. Thank you for this guide it was very thorough and simple to follow.

@@jensdbe im the same as Kabel, but now when I plug in the USB to the PC I built, it doesn't show up as an option for booting. I'm in the BIOS for my motherboard, but I only see one boot option - my hard drive. I followed along with the video and my USB files look exactly the same as in the video. Any tip for troubleshooting?
you should get a lenovo if your using windows11

You are a life saver, just purchased new 12th Gen Intel processor and Asus MOBO and did not have any windows computers to install the new windows 11 OS. After many failed attempts I was ready to return my computer, I believe formatting the usb to Fat/Fat32 was the key part, I followed other forums using the brew and wimlib, tried multiple macos apps and had no success.Thank you kind sir!

Very helpful, thank you. Glad you mentioned the extra steps for the M1 Mac. For me, there were three commands that I had to run and were listed in terminal. A simple copy/paste of the three commands worked. Again, great video, thank you! :)

Jesus, this video saved me. I just bought a HP Victus 15 and windows 11 separately. Win11 usb didn't work and I only had one mac to make a bootable usb with the windows 11 ISO file. I tried many many things and fortunately I found your video. Worked at first try. Thanks for the help! Great video!!!!

Hi my installation of wimlib always hangs in the terminal window on the line make, just after "installing wimlib dependency: openssl@3"
any ideas how to get past this? I'm on Big Sur on a really old 2014 macbook pro

As many of these other comments say, this was the first video i found that was incredibly helpful. I am moving from my macbook pro to building my first gamiong pc and this was the last part i needed! This video was so straightforward and easy to follow along. Where other videos skipped over the part if you have am M1 mac, yours did not. Thank you! Hopefully when I boot up my new custom PC, after building it everything goes according to plan!!!

Hi. I just built a computer and I'm trying to install windows on it. I used your method since my other computer is a mac. Upon installing and the computer restarting I get a message that says "The computer restarted unexpectedly or encountered an unexpected error". I can't seem to get around this screen and finish install. Any suggestions?

Worked great! But now I realized my ram has Intel XMP profiles and I’m running AM5 motherboard 7000 processor is there a way to download or install the EXPO profiles for my ram sticks?
I keep getting the error "Windows could not collect information for {OSImage} since the specified image file [install.wim] does not exist. Any help would be great!

During windows boot up it says windows cannot find install.wim do I need to make the file name from swm to wim ?
I am having an issue where my autorun.inf is hidden therefore will not allow me to install on my new pc. Any advice? Thanks!

Hello Jensd for the video, After following all the steps from the video, I face my mouse not working once opening the windows installer blue screen. HOw can I fix it?
The keyboard is working but i cannot accept the terms of windows by clicking in accept only with my keyboard, thus cannot proceed with instalation in my freedos computer.

Hey jensd_be, my friends computer recently corrupted and he wiped the harddrive within the bios tools. While trying make a windows install on his old mac, we ran into the issue of winlib not supporting his old mac 10.13. Do you know any other work arounds?

An error occurred in Bootcamp Is that not allowed external storage device to instalation
So I got to the final step and when I tried the Wimlib-imagex split. The terminal told me that the it failed cause imagine could not be found. Any help would be greatly appreciated
