    It's so fascinating seeing how Parker consistently played similar phrases but in new contexts. 1:00 for example references segments both from the beginning and end of his solo on Billie's Bounce!

      He not only created the language of bebop he spoke it with a fluency that has never been equaled. Hands down a top 5 musician of the 20th century.

    1947 during a session for Dial, Parker is in top form, as is Miles Davis; the rhythm section (Duke Jordan, Tommy Potter, and Max Roach)

      I read c flute music and lower things an octave, its kinda hard yet easy! If you have had your audition yet or not Good Luck I bet you'll make It!!!!

      Ciyprus Thanks!! I did already have my audition and I made it!! For only like three of the songs I got actual vibe parts but one was cut and then I had one c flute part and all the ledger lines made it super annoying to play but I eventually figured out and now I can read ledger lines no prob. The most challenging piece was the piano part because I usually get piano parts but they usually have chord symbols I can read but this one didn’t have any!! I figured it out tho and it quickly became one of my favorites!

    I was just watching reruns of the Jeffersons and I heard Helen mention scrapple from the apple. I never heard this recording before, it's a little before my time. This tune is awesome. I love this. Think I'll listen to some more Charlie Parker

    So sophisticated
    Dark suits and fur coats
    Men s hats and ladies gloves
    Perfumes mixed with cigarette smoke
    Ten or eleven the night begins
    Back alley bars
    Chinese silk and big fat cigars
    52nd streets on fire
    So I take my draw
    and get a drink from the bar
    Birds just getting on
    Soon to warm up
    I contemplate just one for old times sake tonight
    I tell myself just wait
    The bird shall soon take flight
    But God it's hot in here tonight
    Sweaty dancers under the lights
    All comers black,brown and white
    Then the band starts
    With Scrapple from the apple and I begin too fly away into the night
    P$
    /To all my beboppers and tea heads
    This is just something
    To get viperish with tonight/

      Duke Jordan played the best intros. Few talk about it. But those piano intros really defined bebop.

    does anyone know on which of Bird's albums this song first appeared on?

    • @willyounts3308
      @willyounts3308 5 ปีที่แล้ว +8

      back in the 40s, they didn't really release "albums" like we do today. that started more in the mid fifties. bird and diz and all this bebop stuff was released mostly as two or three tunes on a 45, i believe. bird did release two albums called "charlie parker with strings" that bcame very popular since they weren't his standard fast-paced musician's music.

    Scrapple from the Apple is a Jazz Standard dedicated to hot lasiciviousness in raping someone as playing with them as an upright bass.

    How to play intro? Help plz, tabs or note

    • @bebopuser
      @bebopuser 7 ปีที่แล้ว +23

      my man you should stop looking for that approach, if you dont look it just naturally you will become a machine just looking for the tab and the right techniques, thats not jazz my friend hope this helps you.

      Антон Фил Just noodle around a bit assuming you're on guitar the D string is a good place to start

    • @joelkeeley793
      @joelkeeley793 6 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      Use your ear for the melody. But in my experience I know how to play this song and I can tell you it’s in F major. So the first cord is gonna be an F6, then it sits on that for a couple measures (you can hear that). Then I know for a fact he’s using a ii-V walk down with a modulation. So after the F it goes to Am7, then D7(alt), (ii-V in G major) then to Gm7, to C7. Then goes into the song. Very basic chord progression, keeps to the bepop tradition. Hope this helps. But everyone else is right, stop using tabs, real jazz musicians never use tabs, EVER.
