      Of course you know that BMW only ever made one E39 M5 Touring. So any other "M5 Tourings" are repro so you can do pretty much what you like when buidling one.

    "You can reuse your old, worn out, rubber but I decided for a new one, because it's the right thing to do. Sometimes you want new, proper, rubber in here. I'm gonna slide this bad boy on, and then we can jump underneath, hook everything up and see how this thing feels like" - PT, 2021

    Yes... lemon clips or spring hose clips are much better than jubilee/worm clips. They don’t fail and they exert an even sealing pressure all around, also the can expand and contract when hot and cold with out damaging the hose or stretching and then leaking... much better for slip on fuel, coolant and oil hoses... also for the manufacturer they are cheaper than jubilee hose clips.

      This comment! Oetiker/cobra clamps are the way to go. Try to avoid worm clamps whenever possible. Uneven sealing pressure => leaks => overtightening => damage. If you use them and they inevitably leak you can try using two of them and orienting the screws/worms opposite each other.

    Of course it's the period correctness but there is another factor that makes you feel that these wheels are fitting this car like a glove. It is your brain that makes you feel like this and that happens because this car is "stored" in your mind exactly as you saw it when it was firstly presented 22 years ago. It was this colour, those wheels and generally this look that made you say wow when you saw it. For the same reason we like so much an E30 M3 with the factory BBS wheels, every time we see it. There may be tons of gorgeous wheels to fit those vehicles but you'll always feel great when seeing them in their factory outfit...That doesn't happen always and with all the cars. It just happens with the cars that were awesome looking from the factory...great work as always guys.

    You may need to get INPA and run the ABS bleed sequence to resolve it, there's possibly air in the ABS module, which the only way to bleed it if it's got air in.
    It's not the case of you incorrectly bleeding it, it's a case the DSC / ABS Module needing a proper bleed.

    The crimping clamps apply force completely unlike a screw clamp. We have had to replace The reservoirs on 39s and e46s with lines that just never stop leaking and showed back up after a few months. The filter in the bottom gets plugged. Definitely recommend power steering flushes on this vantage of BMWs

    Also, when I had my E39 M5, I had to get the cluster refurb'd, the abs module reman'd, the rear view mirror replaced, fuel door actuator, and the body control module. I fixed it all and sold the car. Wish I kept it.

  • @Michael_Lorenson
    @Michael_Lorenson 3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

    I've bled slightly older BMW ABS systems using a pressure bleeder, and it worked fine. But now I just use a one-man bleeder bottle and pump the pedal. It's simpler and it works just as well. Your Dinan short-shifter rattle might only show itself in the e39 M5, due the engine's flat-plane crank, which causes funky vibrations.

    • @adad2757
      @adad2757 3 ปีที่แล้ว

    For those clamps you asked about, they are just another form of clamp. They provide a better clamp force on the whole surface area of the hose, so technically, a little better. They are used more for the reason that you won't necessarily replace thise type of clamps, rather buy a new part...... I think, LoLz. We use those in plumbing on PEX piping.

    Pressure bleed and do the old school pumping normally works using the pressure bleeder to help flow and keep the master cylinder reservoir full, but activating the ABS may be required as air can be trapped in the valves and valve body of the ABS module.

  • @jata1778

    The rattle from the shifter could be residual vibration from from the driveshaft. My last shiftter sat low enough that when I accelerate the flex disc slightly makes contact. I got fed up with all the BS and went with Autosolutions. Simply the best. The oem you install will feel notchy/rubbery and eventually fall apart.

    If the rattle in the shifter is still there after more miles are clocked up its probably the shifter knob. Sometime when it is removed something breaks inside that rattles. Had that with my E46 M3. As for the halo light personally I love the oem yellow lights and to be honest I don't see the point in updating the lights to look more modern when the car itself isn't modern. I think the high kelvin output lights on older cars doesn't look right. 3000 looks good to me but I'm old and like the old school. Love the wheels. Both sets!

    I would use spring clamps instead of worm gear or crimped clamps because hose and hose bibs change diameter with temperature and pressure. The worm clamp usually will distort and not clamp anymore unless you periodically tighten, the crimped ones are only one size and will fail, the spring clamps auto adjust constantly.

    Funny. My F30 335 does something similar when pressure bleeding the front brakes. Using the Schwaben bleeder which is essentially the same, I usually have to crack the valve for 30 seconds or so, close it, recheck pressure in the pump, then crack it again and she starts flowing. Sometimes just a few bubbles and sometimes a ton make their way through with multiple opening/closing of the valve. This is my second BMW too and both cars did this. After a couple cycles it flows clear and bubble free though. Two valves per corner for the Brembos. I do it every year and every time it’s always the same process to get it flowing and flushed 🤷🏻‍♂️.

    • @dailydriven991
      @dailydriven991 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Also, when using these pressure bleeders: if you suck the fluid out of the reservoir and forget to top it off with fresh fluid BEFORE you hook up the bleeder pump, you’ll end up pumping a shit ton of air through the system before it starts flowing. Ask me how I know lol.

    @3:55 IMO Oetiker clamps are worth every penny on any pressurized line that you won't be removing again for a long while (and that you can get the pliers on). Only downsides to them are that they're very size-specific, are one-time use, and can be a nightmare to pry off. Second option for me is fuel-injection clamps, and then spring clamps if appropriate. I'd never use worm-drive clamps on any small line or really anywhere on a car outside of the intake tract that will never see boost. If I ever saw a pro shop use worm-drive clamps on any pressurized line, I'd legit question their competency or at least their attention to detail.

    Hey @speedacademy you do need to push the brake pedal down when using the pressure bleeder. Pretty sure it says that in the Bentley as well. Not sure why, but works that way on the e39 and my e36 Z3. So setup the pressure bleeder to about 25 PSI, then have someone slowly depress the pedal to bleed the system. You can use that to easily bleed the clutch line, too.
