Am-225 tripod with the smallrig panhead. Awesome pack tripod 1.6 lbs tripod 9.8 ounces for the panhead. Works great for 12x50 binoculars and Spotting scope. Definitely check it out. Great info Brady.
Great video Brady also a shout out to the cameraman Great Job I really like this videos because all the great ideas that you have tried and tested. I trust your choice in the products because you and The Team at Go Hunt are trying to help everyone and truthful about it. Thank You and God's Blessings on all your hunting adventures
Ear protection with a muzzle break is no joke.....I just put a EC turner break on my custom mauser chambered in 30-06 with a 26" match grade barrel and just for one shot I didn't use my ear plugs just to see if it would be manageable for a quick shot opportunity, no no no it is NOT. I will also make sure any hunting buddy that's with me uses ear plugs. But the accuracy, reduced recoil and a slight amount of muzzle jump is totally night and day, I can watch my impact/ vapor trail to 650 yards through the scope and it's just under 1 MOA with the break, with out I was 1.5 - 1.75 MOA.
No joke is right! I've told the story on a few videos of a buck I took in 2020 and my brake was next to a tree. I had my ear plugs around my neck and in the heat of the moment failed to put them on. That was a huge mistake! My ears were wringing so bad. I even double up when I go to the range now. How do you like that EC tuner brake? I've watched his videos on it and heard some people really enjoy it. But I'm still on the fence about them. Thanks for watching!
@@brady_j_miller The brake is really really nicely built.... It does what's advertised and I will buy one for the next custom rifle protect, at 300 yards I'm cutting holes with a 30-06 running 3 shot groups using the new Remington core loc tipped 165 gr pushing it out at 2911 fps... My gun shoots really well and I didn't really want the tuner, mostly wanted the break to reduce muzzle jump to see impacts on animals but I'm wanting to get into reloading and that's where the tuner comes to the table. I was on the fence as well, they are not cheap but I also couldn't find anyone with a bad experience with a EC tuner break other than shooters that had really picky guns that didn't seem to group, but that's hard to say it's the gun or shooter or the ammo but after the install the groups they did shoot change for the better. I truly think if you had an opportunity to barrow one and run it through your known ammo in your 300 RUM I'm confident that you would make an order. Also I really enjoy your hard work and dedication you put into helping other hunters like my self and many others, good luck chasing them bucks this winter.
Thank you for posting this Brady and for the great detail. I had originally ordered a different brand of gaiters (too short for my 6'3" frame), but because of this gear list and the recent hunt I saw with you, Gritty, and Lampers, I ordered some Peax from GoHunt and absolutely love them.
For sure! I really wanted to dive in deeper with my ammo specs. I could probably do another video on it. I've had a few folks question my single feed method, but it works for me and I know it works for a lot of other people too. With practice I'm very confident doing it hunting if I ever need to grab another round.
Love hearing that!! They are fun to put out there and I always believe it's a great way to get prepared for a hunt. As by doing these, I'm a little more prepared for the season and now have all my gear in a bin at my house ready to go for the upcoming hunts.
I haven't watched this final cut of this video... but I did a little rant at some point of this video about my use of the word "running" in gear lists. Basically I was making fun of myself haha. I wonder if it didn't make the cut.
@@jeffkessel669 Haha! So perfect. I'm glad the editor kept it in there :) At some point I just think I use every word out there when describing my gear and my mind is going faster than my words.
Just loaded up some 300 rum for one of my hunting partners and man, that’s a lot of retumbo! Haha I had to shove those bergers so far down in the case to get them to mag feed. I’d definitely be single feeding as you are if I had a rum. Kinda like the 338 edge. I built a 300 prc this year and have the 245 bergers going at 2780fps. Slow but very consistent and a ton of bullet! Took it out to 1660 yards about a month back with good results
Brady, love the gear videos. I am an ultralight thru hiker / avid hunter and have really bad GAS (Gear Acquisition Syndrome). I'm curious, are you sponsored by Sitka? After using sitka for years, I dumped every single item I had except for the dew point rain gear. Everything else they make is wayyyyyy to heavy (yes, I count oz). I was not a Kuiu fan but their gear is as warm, as bomber, and much lighter. Outside of that, I use some first lite merino and some Outdoor Research for early season scouting.
Seems like we could be best friends!! I have used a lot of different clothing options through the years. I had some original First Lite when that company first started. I used some Core 4 Element way back in the day. I had some OG SITKA when they launched. And I used KUIU for a long time when they started. And now since 2017, I have been back to SITKA. I do work with SITKA. And it might be hard to believe but I made the switch because I liked the direction SITKA was headed and what they were doing with their big game line in terms of tech, materials and fit. I hope SITKA can some of their pieces a little lighter in the coming years. As like you said, just like you I'm an ounce counter as well and would love to see a section of SITKA just dedicated to us ultralight folks. Once thing I've noticed is I'm able to get a lot of years out of the same piece of SITKA without having to replace it. But on certain hunts, I'd totally be willing to sacrifice some durability for a little less weight.
thanks for the gear review, always nice to see what others are taking, on hunts, i take a water lily, with me, to charge my stuff, no solar charger for me, Alberta Canada
Check out “Epic wipes”they make XL biodegradable wet wipes made out of bamboo fibers. One wipe is enough to clean your whole body. I’m not trying to impress anyone when I hunt either but being able clean yourself mid hunt is a game changer especially when you’re sweating day in and day out you could start to get a little raw. I use to hate the idea of a wet wipe too but I’m sold on these.
Hey Brady! Thanks for sharing your list. Question. Why do you prefer the Kelvin Lite Down jacket opposed to the Aerolite Synthetic jacket? Especially if it is snowing out, are you not worried about down getting wet? I am looking to get a puffy for late season hunts and trying to decide between the aerolite or kelvin lite down.
Might be a silly question, but id like to try out the seek cimmaron tent but would like to get it in the dynemma fabric. The only options I see on seeks website is the Cimarron and cimmaron light both 30d nylon. How would a guy get a dynemma cimmaron?
Hey Jeff. Not a silly question at all. I have seen it listed every now and then on their website. I believe it's not something they can readily get because of material shortages, so when it shows up and they get some products built, it goes fast. Mid-winter they didn't have the option up, and then I saw earlier this summer there was a section on their website for Dyneema so I placed my order. I'd definitely reach out to them and see if they can provide you a time estimate. Do note that the price jump is pretty steep.
Brady why do go with the Stone Glacier sleeping bag over some of the other bag that lighter and rated for similar temps? When you are so pack weight conscious.
Interesting to do the dyneema with a wood stove... that's always been a no-no because dyneema can melt, but honestly, it's more likely to burn a hole through just like with silnylon, except dyneema is waaaay easier to repair by simply using dyneema tape. Good choice to use a longer pipe though. I'd still opt for a larger dyneema shelter with a stove, to get the material farther from the heat. I feel like it could heat shrink over time or a hot burn. Does the shelter not come seam-taped from Seek?! Dyneema doesnt get seam-sealed, it gets seam-taped. Also, you're kind of doing yourself a disservice in the good choice for the warmer bag to sleep well, but then a pad with an R value of 2. Better to carry the extra handful of ounces for the x-lite pad with it's near triple r value for late season hunts, when you're losing so much heat through the ground. Cheers and good video, Brady.
Brady, In the video you say you use the large enclosed marsupial gear bino harness. When i had checked the sizing diagram on marsupial's sight, it recommends the medium enclosed for the uhd 12-50. Have you found the large is a better size, or did you mispeak? Just wondering, so i order the correct size.
Hey Justin. I honestly really like the size of the large for the UHD 12x50 binos. I know they state you can use the medium one and it will break in and work better. But if I remember right, it just closed easier using the large without having it be so tight. If you want, you could shoot me a DM on Instagram (so I can find your account) and I'll take photos of my 12x50 UHD in my large bino harness, and I can go grab a medium harness from the warehouse and take pics and videos of it for you. I'd say drop me an email, but I'm not sure it's best to share that publically on TH-cam.
Hey Michael. I've used my VA-5 head a lot with my 300 Win Mag out to 600 yards standing up. I haven't had the time to do some practicing with the 300 RUM on the tripod yet. But will be doing that here shortly. I'll see if we can do some filming the next time I go out to practice and shoot off my tripod.
Brady, what size Sitka gear do you wear, Large Tall? I'm built like you but I'm 6'2" and need a Med Tall. Sitka rarely offers that size, so I end up not buying their clothing.
Hey Zach. I'm dropping an article on our website that lists all my sizes for every Sitka piece in this list tomorrow. We are both those tweener sizes haha. So what I normally wear in Sitka is the XL Talls. I could definitely get by with large tall on some of the baselayers. But on the outer layer pieces the XL and XL tall if they make works best for me.
It should be right around 53 pounds if I remember right for a week long hunt. It's very similar to what I took in 2021 on hunts similar to this. My God, you can do jumping Jacks and Make Love to Your Woman in a Tiny Home Blind,,,try doing that sitting on the Ground while Hunting,,,,,hunting is not to be so easy OPRAH could do it
26 inch heavy pipe and a fkn *brake* on a mountain rifle.

Good videos, but I’d hate to have to hunt with his añil ass! He takes the fun out of hunting
