AZURITE, MALACHITE 1M176

Outstanding specimen of electric blue azurite associated to microcrystallized malachite from a classic contemporaneous locality. This blue special color is due to a first growth of azurite which was pseudomorphously replaced by malachite and then covered by a later layer of azurite. The light reflects off the malachite underlayer and back through the outer azurite layer to create the distinctive color. THE MAIN CRYSTAL IS: 2.2 x 1.2 x 1 cm.
Excepcionalmente brillante ejemplar de azurita con un marcado color azul electrico combinado con malaquita microcristalizada procedente de una localidad contemporánea que ya se ha convertido en clásica. Se cree que este color tan especial proviene de que la azurita fue pseudomorfizada por malaquita y luego encima de esta malaquita creció otra capa de azurita. La luz incidente se refleja en la capa subyacente de malaquita y retorna hacia el exterior a través de la segunda generación de azurita, creando ese color tan especial.
