Don't shoot the messenger cause I don't believe in everything he believes in, but he mainly "wants to take their rights away" because the LGBTQ movement has grown and become more mainstream, and now there's more acronyms, flags, inclusivity, etc, along with schools now begining to teach LGBTQ history, kids recieving gender affirming care, discovery of more genders, etc. It wasn't this big back then, but now there's just more controversy with what's grown in the community like trans women in womens sports and nudity in pride parades. He still supports LGBTQ, but him and a lot of people in society are now expressing against it. I doubt his viewpoints have changed, he just has something more to speak out against. He still supports general same sex marriage and other general topics, and I doubt he would believe in more genders or trans men in womens sports if that was a thing back then.
