don't have to. i got the best end and i slaughtered every enemy unit + had no deaths except the ones i intentionally turned into angel knights. the main thing is about matching your alignment with the town you're liberating (lawful liberates 80+, slightly lawful liberates ~65, neutral liberates 50, slightly chaotic liberates ~35, chaotic liberates ~10) and matching your army with what they fight. (makes chaotic stuff fight lawful stuff and vice/versa)
