Great info! I have got Tanita 1479S, I managed to enter calibration mode as per your procedure but found totally different procedure. The scale shows some value for something. Any feedback for calibration would be very much appreciated. Thank you!

For the 1479 - Press and hold the “OFF” button and press the “On/Tare” button 3 times. The LCD displays “0-0” Do not place anything on the weighing platform. The LCD displays “0-1” Place the 50 gram mass on the weighing platform. The LCD displays “0-2” Place the 100 gram mass on the weighing platform. This is performing a calibration at the full range. The scale will now display “0.0”. Press the “OFF” button and turn the scale’s “On/Tare” button and the scale is now calibrated.

The calibration of the Tanita 1479V is similar for the Tanita 1477, Tanita 1480 and Tanita 1479 pocket scale. The Tanita KD200 kitchen scales also had a similar calibration procedure by pressing the hold button down and then pressing the ON button multiple times. I guess if you have a different Tanita scale other than the 1479V shown in this video to try the procedure to see if it works for your particular model Tanita scale.

    Ok thanks.
I have the 1479Z which have a calibration button on them (requires a 200g weight to calibrate).
I also have the 1476N which I was referring to about the sequence of holding the off button and pressing the on button 4 times. I tried it with these scales and the did something else altogether and didnt appear to go into a calibration mode.

This is great info but what if you have just a Tanita 1479 (no letter after the number) ? Is the procedure to calibrate this scale the same. I tried it and the numbers did not match the number that would come up shown on the video. Any feedback would be very much appreciated! Thanks!

I think it is time to buy a new scale. Over a period of time scales wear out. The cost to send the scale into us to look at and the shipping cost would be more than just buying a new scale.

Will this calibration method work for other tanita pocket scales?
