I think it's story more about data analyst, not data scientist

My experience is that you can get work without a degree, but it is only going to help you get interviews and later promotions if you do have a degree. I have always been about learning things because i am interested in them rather than attaining certifications. My observation though is that people with certifications get taken seriously from the outset. My last SQL job, i practically begged my boss to let me write a couple of key functions to be used in queries. I ended up staying with that company for two years writing SQL code and optimising other peoples queries.

so far, these are some great videos, but it sounds like when say "data science", you really mean someone with a very strong sql background and some basic stats which would be a BI analyst. I guess saying "data science" sounds cooler

I'm not doing something that's related to my major, which is fine, although eventually I would like to see myself in some sort of position doing analysis type work such as data, programming, financial, etc.

Can I say that depends on the context of a job a data scientist does not necessarily require skills in predictive modeling? I've heard many saying that a data scientist MUST require skills in predictive modeling in order to be qualified a 'true' data scientist. Just curious to find out what the end goal of a data scientist is.
He literally had just said it isn't necessary and it's dependant on the field.

Im a Data Guy at a fortune 50 company, love my job. Make 125k+, life is good., I know pretty much every tool in data, Tableau, Python, Excel, Power Bi, Microstrategy, Adobe Analytics, Google anaytics, Domo, SQL, Mongo DB, Json, API usage.
Mind if I ask if you have a masters? If you don't, will you get one to help you move up in the ladder?
No I dont, just a bachelors and tons of training, courses and hands on experience. If im being honest, Im perfectly ok at where im at because I work on a lot of personal projects in my free time and the plan is to have one of those take off and leave the corporate world at some point. In the meantime, Im at a decent level and pay without too many responsibilities that allow me to have tons of free time to work on my own stuff. Honestly I do about 10 hours of actual work a week, the other 30 is meetings and random corporate culture stuff.

Data Analyst then after 2-3 yrs of exp you are qualified for data scientist job ....is this true ..?
I've read quite often you start as an analyst in the first year and you move up as a scientist in the next.
