I first saw this film when I applied for NYU's FTV program in 2018. Today, 2 years later, I came across this film again. I am now a sophomore at NYU, studying film and television. AND, I just happened to have bought a 24" sailboat with my friends 2 months ago. How amazing.
I keep coming back to this as a reference to how great my application should be - at least. I was so amazed by the colors from the first time I watched your film. This is so beautiful. I really hope you make something out of the gift you're given.
The one thing that set me off was the acting -- it seemed a bit forced and slightly awkward, almost up-the-nose. Everything else was stellar, especially the cinematography, which I felt emphasized the theme of light. Every scene had a source of luminosity which directed the eye to the correct points in each frame.
THIS IS INSANELY GOOD!!! I'm applying to Film Production as well! Knowing that other applicants are making films as amazing as this is pretty intimidating not gonna lie haha. Good luck and I'm sure you'll be accepted!
A friend of mine knew you and showed me your videos a while back and wow. This is actual inspiration. I applaud you for the amount of creativity you have. The passion literally leaks through the screen:) Keep it up man.
and like a very expensive camera. how am I supposed to compete with that with that when I'm filming in a shitty apartment with an iPhone from 4 years ago.
@@Eli_jah_ with drive and determination. Yeah, he has an advantage in equipment over you and has access to money but you got something he doesn’t have and that’s limited freedom. I’ve watched this so many times and every time it gets better! This is beautiful. Those colleges will be extremely lucky to have you. You have an amazing talent!
I remember watching this in 10th grade and wondering how I'd be able to create work like this in 12th grade for my application. Now I'm in 12th and I'm still not sure how I would've. Wow. This is the granddaddy of all film applications.
Hi. I’ve watched this for so many times already and I don’t think I’ve seen something as wonderful. Probably the only one that caught my heart. I’m so happy you got accepted. How are you doing now?
1,000th sub! Congrats. :) Awesome short film, really embarked a message with heartfelt emotion. I’m a junior in highschool myself looking to apply to USC, UCLA, etc for film, any advice you would give?
This is great! Cinematography is pro quality for sure!! But one thing I’ve always wondered with these types of student films, especially this one...WHERE IN THE WORLD DID U GET FUNDING!?!? 😂 For actors and boats and whatever else 😂 seriously I want to make this kind of stuff but don’t know to begin with that sort of stuff
Hey thanks! Zero funding. Had been saving up for the gear since middle school. Actors were all friends. Boat belonged to my friend. I think it's amazing what you can do with just the people around you - and it's all thanks to the graciousness of others to help you out 👍

The worst thing about this is he doesn't need film school.... This was great.

J. L. Can you get accepted without a film? I am from Moldova and I know nothing about films. The film industry here is extremely underdeveloped.
Wish I had friends as passionate as u, we would change the world, one film at a time, the passion and skills this generation has is infinite

The cinematography and direction in this is amazing
the color portion was absolutely beautiful
so we’re not gonna talk about how he has a boat
do people just buy boats in the US. Its pretty rare from where I come from, maybe that's why I couldn't really relate to it.

This is incredible. I'm proud I'll be able to say I saw some of your first films when you hit it big as a director/cinematographer/producer :)
