I like this tutorial, but as with several others I have been watching today, I miss a simple explanation to why we start with the round shapes. I get that it makes up the general shape of the animal, but I would like artists to explain the importance of this. None of the artists says anything other than "first we draw two circles" or " we start with this oval". We learn more by knowing more, not just by being told "do this". I sometimes teach carpentry to younger people, and I always make sure I make it very clear why we do the things we do. But, I really do like this video 😊
Thank you for your comment. It’s a good question- I use simple shapes to ascertain the size and proportions of different parts of the composition of a drawing. It helps me to make sure one part is out of proportion to the other and also if it will fit into my page. It’s easier to erase simple shapes than to start drawing detail then having to rub it out if it’s too big/small. Hope that helps ☺️
