    My father was a car dealer for over 40yrs, when I was a kid in the mid-80's he brought home this exact spec'd car one day. The shifters had me mesmerized to say the least. I'll never forget it.

    Why do these old cars seem to have so much soul compared to the new ones? I'd say it's because more human hands put them together versus more robotics.

      I like that description they did have much more soul back in the day.

      That’s because most cars are designed for the wind tunnel, and to meet ever increasing government regulations.

    Great car! My first car was the a 1974 olds cutlass Hurst with a rocket 350 and swivel bucket seats. Metallic brown with 60 series tires on the front and 50 series tires on the rear. On chrome slots. I currently have a 1972 oldsmobile cutlass 442 u code numbers matching car. Love my oldsmobiles!

    Very good review for our G Body vehicles. My mom bought one brand new the 1984 off showroom floor. The engine sounds healthy if the 200r4 transmission is all original with the original torque convertor based off the video have the quadra-jet rebuilt or get a new comparable Holley. Because from zero ours wood light the tires up and scratch 2nd and 3rd gears without using the lightning rods. Beautiful car when you rebuild the carburetor it's night and day.

    • @yodacode43
      @yodacode43  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks for the kind words!
      39k original miles! Carb has been rebuilt twice. Original quadrajet. Trans was just rebuilt and built up with shift improvement. Factory converter. Mine has always been a soft shifting car long as I can remember. I do have 235 tires on mine. Maybe extra grip keeping it from a spin! Does seem as through my limited slip is worn though.

      @@yodacode43 make sure you have the G80 code on the sticker on the bottom of the trunk lid. It represents posi traction. You should but it's not uncommon for cars come without the code or peg leg as we call them lol. Also make sure your Throttle position cable is not out of adjustment so that you get firm shifts at WOT. Makes a big difference that goes not only for the Oldsmobile GBody but all of them. Keep her beautiful

    Your Uncle had great taste for cars! My first New car was an '84 Hurst/Olds. and I loved it. They also came with factory rear air shocks, when you pull down the rear license plate to access the fuel cap, there is a valve stem to adjust the height of the car. Looks like you have taken really good care of this car. Your Uncle would be proud!

    • @yodacode43
      @yodacode43  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Can’t believe I didn’t even think to mention the air shocks! Definitely knew about them!

      @@yodacode43 About a month after I bought my '84 Hurst, I received in the mail, from Oldsmobile, a really nice booklet/pamphlet that gave the history of all the Hurst/Olds along with information on the new' 84 Hurst. It was in reading this book I learned of the air shocks. Anyway, one of my co workers helped themselves to this book. If your uncle kept that, it would add value to an already rare car.

    This and the Monte SS helped usher the automotive landscape out of the Malaise era. 180 horses doesn't sound like much today but these had the most power of all the mid size sporty cars of the early 80's.

    Beautiful car and thank you for the time posting. Those automatic shifters were way ahead of there time. I think they called them a shift kit. I had a friend who had a brand new 1976 Volare Road Runner with a shift kit and it would go into gear quickly. IMO much quicker than a clutch deal.
