Best mod for RA2. And this mission is so much better than the original 1st mission. Makes you wonder what stopped the original devs to do stuff like this.
technological limitations mostly. RA2 was heavily CPU bottlenecked (it was never graphics intensive) and you only can have a certain number of scrips and units running without making the game unusable for most of the systems of the time. The best CPU available in 2000 (release year) were the 1ghz single core Athlon processors.
Good job choosing to go for Mental Omega. I understand that the missions are a lot more difficult than what YR players are normally used to. But, this is Mental difficulty, it's not supposed to be normal :D You always have other, lower difficulties, which are normal :D. I suggest you return to this campaign and do all of it. The newest patch just released, and this game is infinitely better than the original, while still keeping the original idea and feel of the classic RA2 experience, updated to the current standards. :D It's all about learning what units and support abilities do, and knowing the strengths and weaknesses of all the factions. This brings an even deeper level of fun gameplay. Just keep it on Normal difficulty until you get used to it enough to go for Mental, and you'll be fine. And trust me, you'll enjoy this game just as us old fans :D
hello, i've downloaded mental omega mod, but there is no soundtrack - could you help me how to fix it ? its impossible for me to play without original soundtrack :D
Why didn't you garisson the GGI? Better try to work out the abilities of different units because they are quite different than the vanilla game... Congrats beating the mission though, Mental is insane.
@onekill31 they can't, GGI are anti tank as well, and GIs aren't that great against armor even when garrisoned, so in order to make it more effective, you put GGIs as well.
Multiple front, multiple units with unknown ability, unknown map, attacked by enemy from all sides within 30 second. It's basically a trial and error and not at all an enjoyable experience. Deleted after 1st try.
Hey dude, I agree with you, and that's why I played only 6 or 7 missions from this mod. Its just too hard with no reason. A lot of guys ask me to play Mental Omega, but this is the main reason I don't do that - too hard, no fun. Maybe in the future I'll give it 1 more chance.
figuring it out and then winning after constant failure is the enjoyment you get, if you give up THIS easily you probably shouldnt play any cnc games at all
@@pinkddpat It's a strategy game, you win by thinking, not by memorization. Trial and error are only for children below certain ages, the rest of us use deduction to avoid the frustration.

It's ok, it is hard for me as well, even tho I played the shit out of RA2 and YR back in the days. But you'll get better at it with time.

Garrisoned anti-air units will not fire air units.
