    The Bills and Jets had a color rush game a few years back where they wore all red and all green. No one setting the game up realized it but everyone who’s color blind couldn’t tell who was who to save their life. That was the last time that happened.

    The home team gets to choose their jersey. Some teams prefer their white jerseys with certain pants and will wear white at home some times. Most teams tend to wear their colored jerseys at home. But every team has a colored jersey and a white jersey, and the away team wears the opposite of what the home team has chosen for their unis that week. Examples in this Cowboys @ Rams, Falcons @ Bucs, and Fins @ Jets.

  • @mattc2824
    @mattc2824 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    They work out the uniforms beforehand. A majority of the teams wear their "dark" jerseys at home...Giants wear blue, packers wear green, steelers wear black, Vikings wear purple etc...a handful wear white at home. The Cowboys are a team who has always worn white at home.

    That is Stone Cold Steve Austin and the clip is from The Longest Yard. He keeps calling him Porn Star Jimmy G because when he was drafted a famous female Porn star asked him out on a date and they slept together and she said he was the best she ever had. 😂😂😂 Also the jersey thing is tricky they have color rush and throwback uniforms now so typically one team will wear white and the other something that is the polar opposite. Doesn’t always work like it used to. Great reaction. Also he doesn’t have any Ravens/Bengals highlights that was the night game last Sunday and it was awesome.

    Every team has a home and away jersey....you 3 are wearing home jerseys but the home team determines which they want to wear, they can wear the away outfit at home if they so choose to force the away team to wear their own home outfits.....this comes into play usually during the hot period of the early season.

    • @kitgautier1658
      @kitgautier1658 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      This is the correct answer. To add to it, whichever jersey (home or away) that the home team decides to wear, the opponent has to wear the opposite (i.e., if the home team chooses to wear the away jerseys, the opponent has to wear their own home jerseys).
      Having said that, it is *usually* the case (except for the hot period of the early season, as @Jeff's SIXX described) that the home team will wear their home jerseys.

    I believe it's illegal to lift a player to block a field goal or extra point. They had to do that because back in the day, Big Daddy Lipscomb (he played in the 50s and 60s), who was 6'6", used to put another player on his shoulders to block kicks. Also, nowadays, when you jump to block, you can't land on other players or it's a penalty.

  • @bodenmaddoxmain
    @bodenmaddoxmain 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    My father, a former college player, once told me that traditionally, the home team would always wear white and the away team dark. That was because in the older days the away team didn't have easy access to laundry services and if they were to play multiple away games before going home, the dirt/mud wouldn't cover up the white. That would make it easier on the fans and officials to keep them apart visually.
    Of course, once they could launder their jerseys even on the road, it became a home team choice so away teams would bring both jerseys and wear the opposite of the home team.

    One of the reasons for the white vs. color uniform is that TV used to be Black and White and screens were kind of small, so viewers could not distinguish between teams. So, grey or black became the standard for boxing, baseball, football etc.

    Occasionally the NFL will do a "color rush" game and both teams will wear special all colored uniforms. Normally the home team gets to decide if they will wear their white or colored jersey. Most home teams will wear their colored jersey. But the Cowboys always wear their white jerseys at home. Also teams in hot weather games will wear their white jerseys.

    From a couple years ago, a lot of home teams started wearing their white jerseys at home. It used to basically only be the Dallas Cowboys that did that, but now a lot of teams are doing it. I think the home team can decide which jersey to wear, and then the away team has to wear the opposite one accordingly. So, if the home team chooses their away jersey at home(ie the white jersey), then the away team has to wear their home jerseys(the one with color).

    White unis are usually designated for "AWAY" (or "visitor") teams but teams like the Cowboys & Dolphins use white as their home.
    Cowboys is traditional; while Dolphins are because during the warmer months, Miami can be humid so the lighter/white colors can keep their players' body temp cooler
    As long as the colors aren't the same or offset each other, teams can wear whatever

    Idk if it's universal but with American professional sports, the team colors differ with away/home by team sometimes. Plus with college or high school, it can be a bit difficult as there are so many color meshes that schools use that are similar. So, if they play neutral games it all depends whom is "home." Plus retro jerseys that the Patriots use. If you're new, just focus on the helmet with American football.

    Sports leagues in the U.S. - as I imagine with football and other sports leagues in the UK and Europe - have certain ways to avoid what you call "kit clash" but it does vary by sport:
    NFL - Usually team colours at home, white uniforms away... the Cowboys being a notable exception. Many teams do have third/alternate jerseys.
    NBA - white jerseys at home, team colours away - again, alternate jerseys may change this.
    MLB - white jerseys (with team name or logo) at home, grey jerseys (usually with city name) away. again many teams have alternate jerseys, often in team colours
    NHL - team colours at home, white jerseys away. It had been the reverse until the early 2000s. Again, alternate/3rd jerseys are common.

    The home team gets to choose which jersey they want to wear. In Miami, the Dolphins usually wear white due to the heat to make the other team hot and uncomfortable. In Green Bay, the packers wear green, to stay warmer than the visiting team.

  • @WickedDiggerActual

    It usually is the away team that wears the white kit, but in some cases they give the home team the choice as to which kit to wear and a lot of times, if the weather is supposed to be hot or if there is some sort of other advantage to wearing white, the home team will elect to wear white. But most of the time dark is the home kit. As far as the ads on the uniforms, I do believe the NFL has deals with certain companies that keeps them from putting other ad logos on the uniforms, but if you ever see photos of their practice kit they will usually have company logos on one of the shoulders.

    Tom Brady is personally responsible for every penalty that is caused by various ways to sack the quarterback. You can't tackle them below the waist from the front to protect his knees. You can't touch their helmets in any way to protect his head, etc. All of these current rules were instituted following Brady complaining about a hit in that manner. In this case, though it wasn't extreme enough to warrant the foul, you can't "slam the ball carrier to the ground with force", (a wrestling suplex, for example) but obviously this tackle wasn't that.
    Yes, it's Stone Cold Steve Austin from The Longest Yard. It also featured Chris Rock, Joey Diaz, and a number of former NFL and pro wrestlers.
    The home team picks the color of their jersey and the visiting team wears the opposite. You can't have two teams wearing the color (home) jersey (color blindness issues and more than one team wears "blue" for instance). It's the same in college football. LSU wears white at home 99% of the time. It's hot as balls in Louisiana for 3/4 of the season and they probably want the other guys wearing the hotter color. I'm not sure why, but I am 51 years old and they have done this as long as I can remember.
    The Spongebob thing went on that long because he's a Steelers fan and the Cowboys are their biggest rival. On top of that, Cowboys fans are constantly boasting about their team and they can go 15 losses in a row and then win the last game of the season by 3 points in overtime and they'd still say "We're back, baby! We are the champions!"

    The NFL does the same as above but some teams wear the dark colors at home. Example: Buffalo Bills wear blue jerseys at home and white on the road.

    LOVE this idea, for weekly nfl recaps. Especially when it comes to controversies, like the Tua (Miami QB) concussion thing

    Generally the Cowboys are the exception since they wear white at home, but a home team reserves the right to choose the kits. Some teams choose to wear white in the early weeks of the season because it’s supposedly an advantage to have the other team play in the sun with colors

      Bucs and some other hot weather teams typically will wear white at home until late October/November

    They don't lift each other because bottom guy would be blocked and woe unto dropped top guy.:) oh, and jumping over the center is now illegal. It used to be OK if you never touched him -and he'd try to stand up and hit your nuts with his helmet.

    Home team gets choice of kit... Normally it's home color, and visiting away is white.... In college basketball it's opposite, home is white, away is collort

    16:58 it's not allowed. In fact just a few years ago they also made it so that defenders can't use their hands to push off of the linemen and get extra height, but people have still jumped the line by just leaping it untouched.

    Cowboys always wear white at home, they are the only team that does this. Sometimes other teams will occassionally wear white at home. Baseball home teams always wear white.

    One team wears home colors while the other team wears the white away colors. The home team gets to choose. All bets are off if the NFL marketing team has a synaptic misfire.

    If home team chooses white, the away team wears its home colors
