As a fan of Dragonball, it always baffles me why people always dispute these two games. They're two different games, it's like comparing Mario Kart with Mario Odyssey. Can we not just enjoy the variety of games Namco is trying to give us?
You are not crazy to think this. DBFZ is made to look PERFECT in a flat perspective exactly like the manga which exist on a 2D page. SZ attempts to depict a 3D world with 2D designed characters. From the concept alone, there are going to be awkward moments in the frames. Further more image quality literally is deteriorated when converted to an MP4 format for playback on the PS5.
If people love Sparking Zero more, that’s great. But for me, no Dragon Ball game can match FighterZ visually. It feels the most like you’re watching the anime.
DBFZ looks better but that’s a given when the models and lighting are tailored perfectly to whatever angle they’re currently viewed from, which is usually just the 1 outside of cinematics
The stretch techniques used in DBFZ can not be used properly on sparking, cause you can risk a lot of visual issues, fighters is a better visual experience
Sparking Zero looks great for a fully 3D game HOWEVER it doesn't beat Naruto ninja storm and what CC2 was able to do and how CONSISTENTLY on model the characters look in those games and how CC2 was able to break the character models like you would in an anime for emphasise motion (think when a characters face gets distorted while in motion), never forget ninja storm has been using the same graphics engine and art style since 2009 yet in the modern day not a single person calls it dated.one of the things that Sparking Zero lacks is consistency in the visuals department. some characters and animations look TOP Quality but then others lack the same level of finesse in making sure that this model looks good from all angles or these animations look good and weighty. I feel like SZ's animation quality is carried heavy by the games visual effects and particles. things like character hair are animated using physics and not hand animated which ultimately makes the hair go a bit toooo crazy and it looks really uncanny, certain animations are clearly mocapped and not hand animated so there are points in the game where it looks like Fortnite because there realistic animations being rigged to an anime character which is weird. People forget that Fighterz may be built on UE4 but the framework and the way Arcys was using it was based on techniques they developed using UE3 for GGXRD which was a game designed to run on PS3 hardware (fighterz can run on the PC equivalent of a toaster because of that) , it wasn't until GGStrive where they updated their framework and workflow to properly utilise UE4 which is why there is such a MASSIVE difference in quality between Strive and Fighterz despite being built on the same engine. the real comparison i would like to see is how SZ would compare to a hypothetical FighterZ2 using UE5 and the GGstrive workflow.
I consider Arcsys games like DBFZ timeless. No matter how good visuals get...games like Guilty Gear XRD, Strive, Granblue VS and DBFZ will still always look great.
The way I see it: DBFZ is the best Dragon Ball VIDEOGAME, while Sparking Zero is the best DRAGON BALL videogame, Sparking suffers from classic 3D model anime game where the models look bad in certain angles (you can notice it with the hair mostly), DBFZ avoids this by breaking the models, restricting the camera and always make sure it looks good on said specific angles.
People saying sparking zero looks better than dbfz is the proof that we are in an era where realism is much more praised than art style and I consider it a big problem

more like comparing mario odyssey with paper mario
the only things sparking zero really has over Fighterz are lighting and texture qualitybut aside from that Fighterz is straight up timeless

A little bit of glaze, but for real that dbfz exaggerated movement is the stuff!
Both look great and both are great games in my opinion

I like the walking better then fighter z

I feel like FighterZ stays more true to the source material, but Sparking Zero uses its own style with better quality due to being on a later gen.
comparing the games is fair, but in sheer content alone, we're comparing a quesadilla to a burrito...
_if the quesadilla was made by gordon ramsay_

Truer
DBSZ Goku Super: Punch, Punch, BIG... PUNCH!
DBZF Goku Super: Punch, Grab, Kick, Kamehameha!
You can do a punch grab kick into a kamehameha into sparking zero too

Uh…. I don’t understand. You said both games are the best Dragon Ball videogame. I’m confused.
sparking lacks dat oompth compared to DBZF out of this world shot gun blast impact.

??? both are heavily stylistic
Having a preference is a big problem??
