Vinny: "Permission to treat Miss Vito as a hostile witness."
Judge: "Do you know her personally"
    Vinny: "She's my fiancee!"
Judge: "That certainly explains the hostility!"

When I first saw clips of this movie I thought no way would I watch it. Then rolls around a rare Saturday off from work and it's raining the whole freaking day. Scrolling through the channels and this movie pops up right at the beginning. What the hell, I'll watch it between loads of laundry. Ended up glued to the screen and did the laundry that night. It was awesome!! Any time it's on now, even half way through, I drop the remote and enjoy a good laugh!

@@FactsVerse… That was yet another scene that was nearly cut and left on the editing room floor. They didn’t want “Mona Lisa” portrayed as a whiney girlfriend, but as a strong Jersey Girl with the expertise to assist Vincent Gambini in solving the case.
Wisely, they left that scene in, as it helped establish the long term relationship of the 2 characters…

Actors in the background were laughing (or trying in vain to conceal their laughter) at the stuttering lawyer in the courtroom. One of the cops seen in the background along with Mitchell Whitfield and Ralph Macchio are all having a tough time keeping it together in several shots during the stuttering lawyer's open statement and cross examination of Mr. Tipton. The first few times I watched the movie, my stomach hurt from laughing too hard at that scene alone.

"You think you are in trouble now, wait until your father comes home." That is the punch line to a social situation of a child who gets in trouble in school and is brought home to his mother. The reference here is Marissa's "U think I'm hostile now...."
The opposing side of that is a more current event where the mother says "My son is a good person" after the boy gets arrested (or worse) for committing a serious crime, as shown on TV, sometimes eluding the police, usually or too often ending up as a "or worse."

But the video got this wrong, too (they called them "Continuity Errors and Goofs").
It's not a "Continuity error or goof," because it's perfectly reasonable for all of those jurors to be from the area (the same as us -- although, I did go 27 or 28 miles away once ).
It's perfectly reasonable for one of those jurors to wait tables when court is out (or even before court).
I couldn't remember the "diner scene with a waiter or waitress," so they should have shown that.

Would have been SO much better if she'd realized it and had to lead HIM into realizing she knew something, and then just taking the leap of faith with a leading question to her.

The reason why My Cousin Vinnie worked so well is that it isn't making fun of EITHER NY culture OR southern culture. All the fun of the movie lies in the *_intersection of the two,_* with neither making fun of the either, only the clashes of the two cultures -- the whole "Yutes" interaction with the judge, for example -- neither is suggested to be wrong, only that there is a communication failure because of the accent difference. Much, if not all, of the humor revolves around these clashes.

I attended this with some friends, and when that photograph of the tire marks was shown, I leaned over and whispered 'positraction" to my friend Karen. She said, "What?" I just told her to keep watching. When the movie was over, she told everyone, "Jim said it was positraction!" They all had a good chuckle.

A FAVORITE comedy movie! So many funny lines! We just experienced this a week ago stopping in a very rural diner. "Excuse me. You guys down here hear about the ongoing cholesterol problem in the country?" I have not tasted eggs fried in lard since the early 60s and frankly, don't miss it!
Would love to watch it with my granddaughter but there are too many f bombs.
The train scene where the glasses are shaken off the table.
The difference between NY culture, "I shot the clerk?"

I just hauled out "The Karate Kid" parts 1 and 2 along with "My Cousin Vinny" 2 nights ago for the wife and I to watch. Classics! I have a crap load of old 70's, 80's, and 90's dad's and blu-rays. Well, I guess I got stuff all the way up to New releases. We have around 1200 total and counting. We think it makes much more sense to have physical objects like dad's and Blu rays rather than something digital. We are buying up DVD players and Blu Ray players as we go too for future use as I can definitely see them going obsolete and they will no longer be made and sold sometime soon so we are planning ahead. Lol

I laughed at first because I thought the "F" bombs were over the top... until I delivered a load out on the island. Then I laughed at the"F" bombs being UNDER stated. "OK, pull the F up, OK Fing stop, OK cut the Fing wheel hard Fing right and start backing the F up Fing slow, OK keep backing the F up, Fing stop, OK now Fing turn hard Fing left, back... back... Fing back, OK stop Fing there. It's gonna take a couple Fing minute to get everything Fing set up... got's to Fing get the big Fing forklift fired the F up. If you's wants some Fing coffee, it's in the Fing break room.". Every third or fourth word in a spoken sentence is a "F" bomb. I laugh at the thought of a minster in church saying, "OK... now we's gonna pass the Fing plate. And, every Fing one better put something in the Fing plate. And it better be Fing paper, and it better be Fing green, and it better be Fing folding money, and it better Fing be at least a Fing five.". Have My Cousin Vinny saved on my hard drive. Watch it at least every three or four months. My "computer monitor"... is a 50" flat panel TV sitting four feet in front of me :) Still laugh out loud. "Would you give a F what pants the SOB that shot you was wearin". And, the look on Pesci"s face while she's talking!!! Pesci was great... but Tomei was outstanding. They BOTH should have won an award for that movie!!!

My favorite thing about this movie is the places really exist and they were in a real prison..That's why I was so into the older movies instead of the new kind. I'm pretty sure that they really got stuck in the Alabama or Georgia mud...I 4get what state the movie was filmed in but they made everything as real as real could be..I got myself stuck in the mud several times down south just pulling off the side of the road. Wva has their fare share of clay mud roads as well lol..

I'm from Queens, NY. Went to boot camp in SC. That was my first encounter with 'grits.' I thought it was farina. When I'd joined the military, my job training (called MOS) was at Ft McClellan, AL. I can vouch for having no clue about how to eat grits (I'd put milk and sugar on mine, thinking it was farina, before spitting the sandy-textured crap out.) Chinese food was INDEED horrible. The only place the mud was worse was Grafenvőer, Germany.
