- In this video I take a look at the Ro-86 Alkonost a stealth bomber plane added as part of the Cayo Perico heist DLC in Grand Theft Auto Online and see if its large price tag makes it worth the hardware that you aquire.

Imagine if this thing had bigger bombs. And I mean for real BIG BOMBS, it would be amazing
And then it would go from too weak to overpowered. The only thing stopping bombers right now from griefing every business sale risk free is that consistent on-target bombing takes a great deal of skill due to the small blast radius.
@@CognizantCheddar Nobody will ever use it for griefing, it's too damn huge. Lazer or a hydra are the best at griefing. Any griefers here please uncheck that
@@jujiwastaken fortunately, you can check the map to see if any lazers/hydras are active before you start a sale
And the explosive sniper is a hard-counter to them, regardless.
In contrast, a true stealth bomber which doesn't appear on the map and has bombs that _don't_ require pinpoint accuracy would basically be invincible as a griefing tool against any sale that doesn't have vigilant air support from the outset.
@@CognizantCheddar I'm starting to think you have never been griefed or you never griefed. No other tool is more destructive than a dive bombing lazer. This is a huge ass bomber with small ass bombs and they're hard to aim, they also do shit damage. Even if it had fast bombing rate, big blast explosions on the bombs, pin point accuracy and high damage, this huge thing is just a really big target and will be seen and countered. The lazer on the other hand can go off the radar and dive bomb directly from above and you'll have no way of defence at almost all

You talked about giving it huge bombs with huge radius. That is the topic here. It could then go to stealth high altitude, and carpet bomb with impunity. Like real life. Overpowered.
And I've destroyed more cocky meme cannon users with my explosive sniper than I can count. Maybe it's tough for you on a gamepad. Its EZPZ with a mouse. You rarely even see Lazers and Hydras in PC public lobbies now.

Why dont the wing sweep back it's so annoying they can irl and it's strange because they're not even fully swept forward so it just looks and feels lazy.
My thought was that if you have the wings folded in it would go fast and be in stealth mode like irl but unlike irl you couldn't bomb in stealth mode and then if you have the wings out you would be slower and not in stealth mode but you could bomb

Exactly the problem. If you want to use one of its two main selling points, you have to artificially limit the way you use the plane as a whole.

@@frijaraider, I own both and I can say that the annihilater is really fun with 6 friends. as for the price, the annihilater is only 170k more and the trade price is really bad having to spend 2.9 million for a “stealthy” helicopter that is only good for a big group, not worth.

i think this would be a cool bomber if it had like a BOMB sight an indication/crosshair that tells you exactly where the bombs land would make bombers actually useable

it's real life counterpart is called the Tupolev Tu-160 "Blackjack" (NATO reporting name).
It's a split model like most gta vehicles, hybrid of the TU-160 and the sexy B1-Lancer.

Imagine this carrying something like an anti ship missile that can one shot submarines. Or a long ranged air to ground missile. It would have been awesome.
The damn thing already two to three shots them with the default cluster bombs on it
Or 2 to 4 shot a moc. Most explosive weapons not on your player can 3 shot the sub anyway

You can always go back to PS3/XBOX 360. They got discontinued shortly after the Heist Update so the most overpowered thing is still the Hydra/P-996. I think you will find that even back then, you got blown up all the time by Hitscanning Fighterjets with explosive ammo that you could do nothing about because there was not explosive sniper and there's no way you are gonna get off the ground yourself while that thing is attacking you

Agreed this is my favourite addition. I fly the volatol all the time. Its fun as anything. Ye sweats kill u easy but i love bringing a bomber into other players experience. The size and sound of it is awesome when youre on the ground
It's just gorgeous... bought it for looks alone and would buy again anytime even if it cost 10m more... probably my favourite addition in this update

Here's some ideas that would make the plane worth buying: Armor should be increased to 10 homing rockets. 150 bombs. Seating capacity at least 4 people. Wings should retract. Also when they're moved back the plane should get a speed boost and when they're forward it should fly slower to make bombing easier. Then to make high altidue bombing possible for which is was made for how about some new bomb. I thought a guided bomb would cool. So when you drop one the plane autopilots itself. Kinda like the guided missile but you're just falling.
yea except rockstar is incompetent. they made a beautiful base game. then hired crackheads to work on gta online 😂 them changes would be cool... would be. they wont do crap.
I'm quite disappointed, i spend most of my time flying around the map and resupplying my hangar and thought the TU-160 would be a nice acquisition, but it's just a waste of money like the volatol
looks more like the lancer tho. but its most likely based on both, rockstar likes to combine vehicles, theyve done that since the dawn of GTA

Except the Volatol has defensive guns and can carry 4 people while the Tu-160 is just a pure bomber

I would suggest just quickly going down and doing a bombing run and then pulling up, but there is no point in doing that because the plane is so big u can see at across the third of the city

@@hemz5882 currently the alknost is just a big plane that can be hidden nothing else has almost no armor and no defence againsts anything mk2s can just fly up to it and shoot it its still slower than a mk2 so before you get high enough for stealth to work you get shot

It has a really weird feature as well. Above a certain speed, it will pitch really really quickly if you hold down either of the rudder buttons. So, you can be diving towards the ground, pull up at 50 feet or so, and it will basically just stop in the air before continuing as if nothing happened, without stalling

- R* makes the plane so big it takes up your entire hangar floor with a new size designation
- R* also gives it the same bomb capacity as a Starling

@@jeffbac1889 Regardless, it's apparent to me that the GTA:O dev-team doesn't even coordinate with each other very well.
a fun strategy is to fly really high and find a target and then do the ultimate dive bomb on them. By the time you appear on the map it will be too late for them to react and you can bomb them. Also looks really cool flying above the clouds. A little too expensive but it does have its uses

I now I'm not supposed to buy this, but the shear size of it and scaring new players with it is hilarious enough with the Bombushka.
I'd argue this thing is more fun than the bombushka, once I figured out how to seat people in the cargobay

@@martongtm I'd say it's good depending on who you attack, but I definitely believe this is how you take down a sub, get in the car, go to water, activate the sonar(yes it has sonar) , find a sub and destroy it with torpedoes. A good counter towards missile griefers.

I would have liked to see guided bombs on this thing. Depending on your height the bomb becomes more or less controlable, or folding wings so ur able to speed up real fast whilst cant dropping anything. Imagine some radar on it, making it the only vehicle that can spy out those submarines. Man this thing had so much potential but now its just as useless as all other bombers...
The predator missile would be an amazing addition for this, you can have someone sit in the back and control it while you fly around. Maybe even put a few cannons of it like an AC130 that have larger range so it can be shot like an AC130 was meant to be fired

I bought this thing and I've been flying it around a lot. I love it. I have all the functional vehicles that I need, so I bought this because I thought it would be cool. It's fun to just fly around and drop bombs from high altitude. I love the handling. It wants to be a LAZER but it doesn't realize how big it is. I will say that it's very inconvenient to access and rearm, but it's so cool that I happily put up with it. It's not for everyone, but I like it.

1. Guided bomb. You can lock on similar to a missile, but it can only change direction while falling down.
2. Add a bomb site which gives you more magnification and gives you a crosshair where your bombs will drop factoring in inertia

Whenever I fly my plane trys to ram me into the ground and throw me all over the place is it some kind of level thing because I have ace pilot or am I just screwed
I bought this plane because of the sheer size of it, Its funny and cool just seeing one of the biggest vehicles in the game just fly over you.
They need to remove the oppressor or nerf it into the ground, and remove or nerf explosive sniper shots. No point in adding these huge clunky planes because they're so easy to take down.

I think there is a way you can make this somewhat practical. You fly it on its stealth altitude until you reach your destination. Once, you reach the area you immediately try to bring the plane down quickly to an altitude desired for bombing. Once your done bombing you immediately bring the plane back up to its stealth altitude.
I love how this plane is actually bigger than one of the hangers at LSIA you can buy 😂 even though it fits inside once you exit it is much larger than the actual building.
The thing about it is that the real life play can put the wings more back and it makes it super faster and makes it a stealth plane what a let down
ah yes Rockstar's idea of "content". Some useless vehicle that is outshined by a flying bike in almost every way
I think the Ro-86 has been added specificaly to counter the Submarine.
With the stealth ability it can sneak up to subs and then ether bomb them from high altitute (after all the submarines are massive and usualy dont move/dont move very fast) or drop altitute right in front of the submarine, do a few bombing runs and ether run away or outright destroy the submarine before it has time to react.
That is why it comes equipped with cluster bombs when you buy the plane. Since cluster bombs have the highest direct hit vehicle damage they would be the best choice for sinking a submarine.
Bought this today, not disappointed.

There is actually an animation, but it doesn’t trigger inside the hangar for some reason

It's a fun plane to fly. It's nice that it's stealth not for bombing, but to be able to enjoy flying at high altitudes for fun without interruption. Unless you're spotted, even then it's a fast plane that can take a beating. Cool plane to be a squadron leader with.

Using this plane for the heist it's so badass, even more if it's raining
Are we going to be able to buy the upgraded dinghy with the gun mounts? Or is that just exclusive to the heist?
Some of y’all are getting to carried away. The solution is gta needs to stop creating the same thing with a different skin. For instance not every vehicle with rockets should, shoot the same rockets, the same way, the same size a damage, the same look. Only difference is the tracking abilities and fire rate/capacity.
For the vehicle in the video rockstar should have made, a special sniper explosive cannon, tht shoots either really fast and small like the alien guns laser, or slow and bigger then ever explosion.
They also need to start making vehicles have realistic passenger size, it’s always the aircrafts tht is a problem. And the passengers in any fighter plane costing over 2 million should have something to do and contribute.
But yea there’s so many things rockstar could have done with all the vehicles they added, they should of made everything more personal and super strong in a niche.
People would actually use different vehicles for different reasons and different fighting strategies. And be better or worse at using certain killing machines. But instead everyone just uses mk2 oppressor. Maybe the torredor deluxo or lazzer instead.
Different ammo types, explosion types, cross air/sights/ways of shooting, super armoured types, super agile types, buffed anti aircraft ground content, etc
What do you want more? It’s a fast THICC BIG plane. I think these are enough for 3m dollars
So the cargo bob has the winch and to activate it its right on the pad why cant they make the wings fold for more speed at the expense of handeling and cant land with the same activation control
What I’m assuming is that they want you to use the plane as more of a strike/attack bomber. Stay at altitude until it’s time to make your tune then you dip down to lower altitudes.
The bombs may be effective at high altitude against a submarine that is foolishly on the surface for too long. Can the bombs be used as depth charges to strike submerged subs?
So can the wings on it not retract to make it fly faster like a jet?

in this plane passenger can use guns just like in a car, so you can have both flare and chaff countermeasures
So between this, the avenger, the volatal, and th bombushka. Which would you choose?

Don’t know if anyone noticed but when going straight down it handles like a Lazer when it stalls. Pretty much move the left or right rudder and pull up and it’ll stall insanely weird.

Lucky I did the give car/plane to friends glitch ages ago for it for free😂 to save the money but it’s really worth it it’s so fun to use

I wish the Alkonost had something like a guidance computer or cruise missiles similar to the B-1 in BF4's China Rising DLC. Or maybe even a paratrooper plane function like in the actual heist.

It should have been so thar with the L3 or the right button it would sweep the wings back (because it was sort of modeled off a b1 lancer and it looks like the wings should) and go into stealth mode. Thst would have been great

I own most of the planes. The Alkonost and Akula are the militarized ones still on my list. I have to say, I don't think any reviewer has really understood any of their planes and their real abilities. It kinda sucks that it doesnt stealth like the Akula but my bet is the idea is to hit and run. That's probably what the good handling is for. You only need the stealth for surprise and escaping if a plane is coming.
