I do also want to point out, that your calculations regarding the Benton-Greenslade line are actually wrong, if you follow the speed limits. The timetable is designed to always make you late meaning, that it'll take you 7-8 minutes to complete the route in one direction, and 6 if you ignore speed limits. With this, you actually gain less than 5 points per minute, or exactly that amount.
Don’t worry you can revive the memories by going to edgemead from faymere Green northbound depot just so you can get nostalgia from this grinding method

I got almost all my points from driving from edgemead siding to edgemead, until siding got removed
I got mine at LSR with the 90% off thing so all routes for about 600 points
