I like how your videos aren't scripted and you don't just read from the spec sheet but rather talk about how it really feels while driving it. Kind of the closest you can get to actually know the car second to actually test driving it. Good job
One of the best reviews I've seen. Cheers mate! Only thing is, when you were driving it was a bit hard to hear what you were saying cause the camera was a bit far away from you. Other than that, I've enjoyed the video. Thanks for making the comparison with the Passat's competeditors as well so we can have a more comprehensive idea of where the car stands.
how is ur experience in terms of vw after sales service.. i know its really nice to drive... if u could highlight pros n cons of buying a passat that would really help...
thats a fantastic car.. the 380 tsi i think is the 3.2 v6 gti tsi engine.. else i love it i dont find any negative aspect excet that it dhould not have changed the tail lights skyline type...
Wow, it seems you enjoyed testing this car and like it more than the new A4? At the current price point, the new Passat is damn attractive. I just hope VW improved their shattered image (especially for the post sales support). At the moment I dare not buy anything with a VW logo on it haha!
Just tested Mazda6 2.2Diesel. .. and the Passat today.. could have miss out this option.. thanks Bobby . This is definitely the choice of 200k. Didnt proceed to test the ford mondeo.
Bobby Ang, fantastic review.. I am confused whether too buy 2018 Passat B8 2.0 Highline or a BMW X1 2017.. I know one is sedan and other is a SUV, but both are also family cars. I did manage to test drive both cars, really enjoyed it. However, I am not sure which one should I opt for.. I prefer Passat but then I am also worried about its Post Sales service... Would you please throw some light on this?
All the straight lines on the dash board of new passat reminds me of audi a4. Vw is quite good in making their cars. They look premium and quality. But the only thing that tattered my trust towards vw is their gear boxes.
Thank you so much! I'm sorry for missing out replying to you. TH-cam used to notify me on every single comment and i make an effort to reply each and everyone of them. But somehow it seems that it no longer does so after a certain threshold of subscribers or comments.

Hi Bobby, hope you will see my comment and maybe could show me some guide, I am looking at one B8 Highline Sound & Style, made year 2019 November, mileage at 18-19k selling at 142k, do you think its a buy or nay? Thanks!

@@JR-tl8tg I got myself a mechanic to inspect the car with me, did the electronic checking as well. Last but not least, watch out for flooded cars. Bahaya o.
Can anyone confirm that in a slow traffic jam does the b8 suffers jerky gearbox ? Also the break , does it break too hard and sudden despite slow pushing on the pedal ?
Great review! The new B8 Volkswagen Passat is impressive as if it's on paper and on the road. But there's one part that you said it's larger than the 3-Series, C-Class and Audi A4. Yes, it's larger than the 3 and C but it's similar to the A4. I think you meant the A3 isn't it?
It's interior room is still more spacious than the A4. Even with a smaller wheelbase. Passat has traditionally been larger than A4 all the time in terms of interior room, but not exactly on spec sheets and paper figures.
Really considering the 2.0 B8 after watching this review. Haven't test driven yet though but quite wary of the after sales issues. Or should wait for the Accord 2.0 Turbo? Seek your guidance Sir Bobby :)
Bobby, I heard so many people complaint about Passat before which always broke down and getting dusty park outside VW at Glenmarie service centre while waiting for spare part. is that true??
I believe that's for the previous Passat before VW roll out the fix. I may be wrong but it seems VW has worked very very hard on solving this issue and they seem to have solve quite a big portion of their worries now as i no longer see new owners complaining much now. I could be wrong, but i can only rely on social media impression as i have no insider information. :)
@@BobbyAngmalaysia hi Bobby "maybe" and "seem" and "I could be wrong" can not give me that guts to buy it. Many passats are parked permenantly in home garages here in Egypt (to the point that you can rarely see them running in streets any more). It is not cheep to risk either
Adli Shazwan in europe, the C segment is where all the peugeot 508, mondeo, passat, avensis, audi a4, c class and 3 series sits in. The premium boys, a4, 3ser, c class, IS in one group and the passat, mondeo, 508 in another as they're priced differently. Traditionally, because the passat was based on the same platform as the A4, it was in between both groups. But now the 508 also use this near-premium strategy. Over here in asia and us, the japanese D segment shaped things up by being really big in size, closer to the 5 series, A6 and E Class. But Accord, Camry, Mazda 6 also wants to sell in Europe as well. That's why last time you have a Euro Accord that's slightly smaller and sportier to be in line with the Passat, Mondeo. But aince the Mondeo grew big time in size matching up to the Camry and Accords, the 508 and Passat also grew in size. As for Camry, its sales in europe was so bad they had to cancel it and launch the Avensis there, a more sophisticated mid size car. As for Mazda 6, it's big but it's styled to look like the sporty cars europeans prefer, and comes in wagon as europeans are big buyers of wagons. In malaysia, passat's strategy is to provide a car that's so similar to the A4, 3 series segment, but roomier and cheaper. Hence was price positioned into the category of the Camry and Accords.
vw is not dumb. that's why they couldn't give 2 hoots about malaysian market: firstly, it's a small market which is dominated by t & h, and secondly, the consumer laws are not vigorously enforced (we don have lemon laws unlike the USA which compell manufacturers to buy back lemons) and car manufacturers here can take their customers for a ride to the moon and back and nothing will happen to them (manufacturers). Nothing. and hence consumers here have to rely on themselves to look after their interests, which is to only buy the safe purchases. it is a logical thing, and vw malaysia needs to do a lot more work to win back consumer confidence after the dsg fiasco which they honestly fxxxed up
The transmission for the highline is the 6 speed DSG that has been rock solid so far. As for the 1.8s, they're both mated to a brand new 7 speed DSG. No words yet so far on issues but according to veedub they've identified and solved the issue.
Dry DCT is lighter, passively cooled, and usually efficiency-focused. Wet DCT is more complex, has its own cooling unit and more performance oriented. Wet DCT is usually used in cars with higher torque output that a dry DCT cannot handle.
Can't really. But I can say that the one I tested is mechanically identical to the Golf MK7 GTI. Which has no reliability issues known so far. In fact, new VWs have not had any issues so far from what i hear.
