- In this video, we take our 8 month old baby, Chloe, on her very first car camping trip.
It is also our first time taking a baby out camping. We share a bit of our experience, as well as try out some new camping gear we bought at the last minute.

You two now 3! Are the cutest 💜 I love the way Edward is so caring of Katie, making sure everyone is comfortable and getting everything setup. Great idea with the setup for Chloe. We camped in tents all my growing years, my father was a teacher and at times when he taught summer school he would commute back and forth from the campsite. My parents had two very large tents with a canopy bridging those in the middle. One was the sleeping tent where we had bunk cots and air mattress for us kids, then the other was the kitchen and gathering place. My parents took us to Europe on summer, my father as a teacher had two months off, we visited family on our first destination in Belgium, the we traveled by Station Wagon all the way down to visit my mothers family in Southern Italy, pitching a tent on the side of the roads in pastures, you name it, all along the way and back! My parents, brother, sister, and our Poodle, Zsa Zsa🌟 Memories!

My son 6 months when I took him dispersed camping, horrible experience but I'm glad we took him. Now he's 3 with a 2 year old bother and camping is priceless. Start them young. You guys have beautiful baby.

It worked! Yay for you guys. I am a grandpa now and am taking my grand boys camping these days but we did the same thing 30 years ago in my FJ60 with my son and daughter. We didn't call it overlanding then but that's what it was and the kids loved it. You have a beautiful family and God bless to the three of you. You brought back some wonderful memories.

Awe Baby Chloe on her first night out WoW she’s a trouper. Stayed up past her bed time until she finally fell asleep. This was the cutest video of Chloe yet. She’s gotten a taste of the outdoors love it. You guys did great job on this video. Looking forward to the over landing trip soon! 👍🏽😄

Summer isn't over yet, keep getting her (and Bernie) out as often as you can. Won't be long and you'll be giving camp sponge baths to a dirty kiddo that discovered the little mud hole in camp. ;-)

Edward, try a blackout curtain draped over the pack ‘n play. Might just do the trick.

The hardest part of taking a baby camping is just leaving the house. Good on you and Katie for starting Chloe out early. Just be prepared to bring 3 times as much gear as you're used to. Haha. I see Chloe already takes after dad; sun's out, guns out! Miss those fat creases on my kids.

Going out and hunting for a camp spot in the middle of nowhere is fun, but reserving a camp spot at a park or lake, is always so easy and convenient. I have my second child on the way, I’m so excited to get him started with camping! Awesome video sir.

Baby Chloe is just like her dad loving camping. It will be like Donald and his daughter too. I have my 6 year old daughter and we will be camping soon. My wife don't like camping so we will see how often she will let our daughter go with me overlanding. Lol. Love the video again. Experience you will never forget being her first. Great video! The best advice I received when I was raising my children was to try and get them used to sleeping anywhere because you can’t always control your environment especially if you are traveling to different places. Be noisy. Let the dogs bark. And all of my kids now can sleep whenever, wherever even in the noisiest of campgrounds and hotels. Just keep doing what you are doing and the rest will work itself out. And your daughter is adorable! All the best to your beautiful family!
Great point! And this trip made us realize that even more as well. As first time parents , we’re surprised by new findings everyday it seems 😆
MY MAN! Back to the basics! Before we went to a pop up camper we had a golden bear 15x12 tent and 2 adults and 5 kiddos slept in it, we had the disc-o-bed bunk beds for the older 2 and we were also able to fit a king size blowup mattress for the wife, baby and my self. With all of that we still had left over room for everyone’s personal stuff and then the outside annex was a great place to store stuff as well as lounge in!
Man, I already feel like I’m carrying a lot of extra gear for the baby, so I can only imagine how much extra you had to bring on your family trips! I bet those trips were a blast though 🤙
They totally where! Especially when we camped on Camp Pendleton with a beach view! It was definitely a lot more gear but it was worth it. I loved that tent but the pop up is so much better. I want to upgrade to an Opus OP15 but the wife isn’t too fond of the price tag.

Thanks Dee! I used to have a 10x10 Kodiak canvas tent , and it was awesome. Everything worked great except the one thing I’ve found that may be tough to incorporate with our camping is that it needs to be staked down, and sometimes we won’t be at camp with soft ground . But aside from that, that tent is magical 10/10

Awesome adventure! You are doing it right. We camp regularly with our 3 kids. Start taking them young. Go somewhere easy and close to home for the first trip or two. That way if it does not work out you can just run home. We really like using a PeaPod for our babies to sleep in. Folds up really compact and takes up less space in the tent than the Pack and Play. However, right now the Pack and play is awesome as it gives the baby a safe clean place to play. We live in Utah so it can get really hot I like to bring a nice battery-powered fan that we can use inside the tent or in the Jeep to help keep us and the baby cooler. I saw you brought a White Noise machine great idea. We have a small one that we got off Amazon that can run plugged in or battery-powered that is a bit smaller just easier to travel and I just keep it near our camping gear. A few more trips and it will feel like second nature!

@@KrokemOutdoors i dont wonna be the smarta** here but if you make it 10 pm the last bedtime for chloe, she will sleep thru the night very soon. that is a tip i got from my neighbor when i had my son and it worked perfect from day one when i started it and he was only one mounth old then.

Wow this looks like an amazing beginning for beautiful Chloe's chapter! I hope by the fall season I will be able to take my family and my little girl camping. By the way. I am very jealous that Chloe has a full head of hair already! So I'm thinking about the size of your tent, lol. We have a old one that fits 10-12 people, and a new one that fits 10-12 people. Hopefully it's not too cramped for you guys.

That's the same sound machine we use for the granddaughter. They work swimmingly.
Thanks Dallas! The sound machine is definitely something we learned we needed , and it worked out well. It’s one of those items we’d recommend if a baby has colic. 🍻👍
My wife and I use a Gazelle T4 tent when we go tent camping and it easily fits 2 Coleman XL cots in it. I hate setting up tents and the Gazelle made it a non issue for us.

We have that same cot, recommend tossing the airmatress away, we recommend getting two of the smaller MegaMat 10's so you and your partner can have different inflation levels, and it doesnt bother the other person when you move around, we got two Long XWides to fit in that cot's airmatress "Sleeve" but its a tight fit, the two non-Xwide megamats should fit perfectly. You can always get them from REI and return them if you don't like them.
Yeah the mattress deflated a bit on us the first night using it. We do currently have a Megamat duo, but I do like your idea of using two singles . May have to consider that route if the wide doesn’t work out. Thanks bud 🙌🍻

Lol was on that bridge a couple months ago going over to the Stonehenge of the west and about 3/4 of the way over we saw a high speed chase of some "undesirable" people in a Chrysler mini van being chased by 3 sheriff deputy rigs, was an interesting trip for sure lol
