astro were like a breath of fresh air in 2016 kpop. when everyone was doing hard concepts and they just came out shining. it's a smart move because of how young they were and in general they would have drowned in the kpop scene if they debuted with something harder because popular, big companies released dark concepts so they would have had no way for standing out. their concept really matured and changed over the years but i think this bright concept is the reason that astro has a very very strong and tight-nit base fandom.
mhhm and because they were so different from other debuts they were sadly avoided by many kpop fans. even ppl just hearing about how they have a fresh concept made ppl not even try to check them out so yea also because of that, many arohas have been fans for many years now
“Crazy, sexy, cool” by Astro was their last cute concept... :’’). But my favourite song would be “Baby”
i think their charm is their voices. Even if there is a dark concept it will still give you fresh vibes.
When groups all doing cool, bad ass and dark concept..while astro doing bright,refreshing and feel good concept.. ^_^

ASTRO's earlier music is just pure happiness. I love their newer more mature concepts too but these songs never fail to put me in a great mood. You gotta check out their dance practices, ASTRO is so underrated for their choreo. It's so smooth and they move they are floating.
ASTRO started as a cute concept, refreshing soda-like boy group.. ever since always you, they started to sway more onto the darker concept.. they grew tgt along the years.. pls do react to more and u will def love them! thank you for reacting!!
I'm one of those who more into not so cutie stuff. But you said Astro has something special about them and the fact that they became my Ults right after their debut (cute concept) says a lot. It's been 5 years, but Astro still has my favourite cute debut.
If you listen to more of their songs you'll notice that lots of their songs' endings have MJ (main vocalist, oldest) hitting his high note, it's his and Astro's signature which I really love.
Also, the song Cat's eye is from their predebut drama called To be continued (MV's from there as well), and yes, it's about audition, with sprinkle of fantasy
(And you said, "He just showed his stomach", but don't worry, or worry, lol, cause it's Moonbin, that's his thing, which you'll see in their later comebacks before "One"😂)
Tbh.. Their songs including their bsides before Crazy sexy cool era really cheers me up a lot.. They even have seasonal album songs🤣 winter, spring, summer n autumn I think🤔

One was certainly a pretty big shift from their usual sound, the difference is huge 😅 Since their debut in 2016 they've definitely become known for their more bright/softer concepts..even though they matured more through the years they still kept this like,,,gentleness to them idk how to describe it djdkd
Even their darker comebacks have a soft/artistic vibe to them it's such a nice like, middle ground between cute and dark concepts
I'm so glad you enjoyed these earlier songs, bc as someone who has been a fan of them since predebut, their earlier stuff got slept on a bunch bc, I guess people can be a little apprehensive of cuter concepts dkdjd

Watching this now! They have come so far from this! Love it! I remember watching them on their debut on music shows. My daughter is one of the admins for the fanclub Worldwide Aroha! We love ASTRO! She went to their fan meeting in California and she said they are just like this. Crazy! Funny! Sweet! Talented.

I’m a fan of bright/fresh concepts so of course Hide&Seek and Breathless were 1000% my style. Hide&Seek was such an amazing debut song! And we got bonus Yoojung and the duck in Breathless~~ ASTRO is bursting with talent!

I *love* earlier ASTRO, they're just pure serotonin! That also means (alas) that I've liked their recent title tracks less and less, but they're still stupid cute in their promotional b-sides. :D they are just mad talented and their choreo is amaaaaaazing
Really?I'm more into cuter concepts that's what dragged me into Astro.But I've liked recent comebacks like knock,blueflame,all night more than one.But still😅Astro is Astro for me 💜
also, even though their concepts were cute and bright, the choreos went HARD hard.. i still get shocked every time i watch Hide & Seek's dance practice, they're one of the most synchronized groups in kpop and the energy they always have is insane

Finally getting to these reactions as a Aroha and fully fledged Eunwoo stan and advocate for many years, they've always been the cute group to me and for me it was so refreshing back then when no mainstream boy groups were doing styles like this, everyone wants to be a badass but only so many people can pull it off. And same goes for cute and refreshing! I always go back to Astro's earlier music to feel happy. But I love their sexy and romantic style too!

Hide & Seek and Breathless are pure sunshine! I love summertime songs... an excuse to roll down all the windows and blast my music. Astro will always leave you smiling no matter what they do. As far as I’m concerned, they are synchronization kings when it comes to their choreo. Baby is my favorite dance practice and MV. Yay! I’m excited for your dive into ASTRO!
astro owns the cute school boy concepts! also, svt and astro have my favorite choreographies.
So Hide and Seek is one of my most favorite debuts ever. I stanned hard from debut for them b/c they honestly had some of the most stable live vocals all around I had ever heard for a new group with that ridiculously difficult choreo level. Moonbin's my bias. I think my favorite songs that have MVs are Hide and Seek, Crazy Sexy Cool, and All Night. But all their stuff is fantastic.
Cat's eye is actually a song from their predebut drama called To be continued, it's really fun and not too long you should watch it sometime haha
Fun fact: fantigio is or used to be an agency that focused mostly on actors and actresses so all the members from astro have had formal training in acting, thats why most of them have had solo acting projects, including Korea's most famous idol actor Cha Eunwoo

their growth was insane, the first more mature concept they did was with "Always You" in 2018 and since then they've been releasing sexier songs but still keeping their original fresh sound on some bsides for example!

Actually I am a pre-debut fan of astro and I love their cute concept. They actually were surprised themselves they would debut a cute contact because before they often did covers of 'cooler' songs. Especially because cute concepts were not popular at all when they debuted.
The song cat's eyes is from their pre-debut web drama to be continued (the reason i became a fan 🤣 it's been a while...)
Since breathless era they have been known as refreshing idols and still live up to that name~ one might be a very cool concept but the essence is still there and you will see that very clearly if you check out their full album.
Astro are very, very talented and yet criminally underrated.
Their rapline is very strong and both of them write their lyrics themselves. But I hope you can also check out some of their ballads bc they really slay those as well!! All members have solo songs too!

Jinjin - dancer, rapper, solo rap songs, lyric writing, composing, best leader, podcast host

Their energy and genuine joy is what I feel kept them around - and of course their incredible talents. Typically these cuter boy groups fade away. Golden Child seemed to be going that way, so they ~matured sooner.

I am so looking forward to your astro reactions.... I literally loved your reaction. Many people mistook astro for their concepts when they first time listened to one. And I am so happy that you are taking an interest in astro. They are a wonderful, super talented group. Their choreos are on another level and with that synchronization and these powerful vocals, it's a chef kiss. The more you will watch them the more you will fall in love with them. Not only with their talents but their personalities too.

Ooh I haven't listened to a lot of Astro, but I remember I loved Breathless and Crazy Sexy Cool, which are two very different songs but I love the versatility! And I especially like the Breathless MV lol, what a fun concept

I usally really don't like cute concepts but Astro really had something special that made them different even though they were still super cute. There was a joke between Aroha's (Astro's fandom) and Tinkerbell's (KNK's fandom) because they both debuted around the same time and worked together a lot. Astro's concept was so bright and cutesy and bubbly but off stage they were showing their arms and abs and dancing hardcore to rap songs and stuff like that while KNK's concept was super mature and suave and a bit dark but off stage they were just giant babies (literally, they are one of the tallest groups) so the fandoms joked that they switched concepts 😂

tbf we expected their sound change, but not as sudden as it happened. The company originally planned for them to have harder concepts like the trend of debuts at the time, but decided to ease into it since the members were still very young. We were all anticipating it, but now that they've finally gone dark, we all miss the cuteness lmao
They matured versus gone dark in concepts, I think. They are still king of cute concepts nowadays especially when they still perform stages like When You Call My Name and All Good

Thank you so much for reacting to Astro's earlier stuff! 🥺 This sound and these concepts are what made them my 2nd favorite boy group right after VIXX; no one was doing it like them in 2016-2017, and I doubt anyone ever will. Hide&Seek is one of my favorite debuts ever. I miss their purely cute and upbeat title tracks so, so much, but I'm slightly mollified by the fact that their b-sides haven't ever declined in quality, and their promoted b-sides are still such a breath of fresh air (All Good should have been the title track on he All Yours album instead of One imho).

OMG!! I swear I thought you would react to recent comebacks only. I didn't expect you to start a whole journey from the beginning with ASTRO, but I'm not complaining at all, this is even better😂😂 Thank you so much💜 This reaction made me so nostalgic because I've been following them since that era, and I completely agree with those who say they were like a breath of fresh air in 2016 (and that includes their equally charming B-sides, they have BEAUTIFUL B-sides). One of the things I love about them is that to this day, despite obviously exploring new genres and concepts (because it's natural to try new things every year), they've never stopped gifting us songs with that same energy and refreshing sound that they started with, be they digital singles or B-sides from their albums.
ps: btw, the MV for Cat's Eye is a clip from a web drama called "To Be Continued" with which they pre-debuted as actors in 2015.
