i know some people don't connect with backman's writing but man, he is my EXACT taste when it comes to contemporary fiction. i know it can be twee but i feel like he has such an interesting way of seeing the human experience.
Did you read the kiss of deception series before dance of thieves? I bought the latter and then was told I need to read the first so it's been on my TBR for a few yrs now.... 😓
I didn't! I did the same thing buying dance of thieves! I know a lot of people recommend reading those first but I just wasn't interested in the other series. I didn't really feel like I was confused by the world in dance of thieves even without the world building of the other series, but I guess it could also be a case of not knowing what I was missing? 😅
@aspensarchive haha I just wanna read dance of thieves but there's that part of my brain that won't let me go out of order so I think it'll stay unread for awhile. 😅
Beach Read is (maybe unpopularly) my least fav Emily Henry book cause I also didn't feel super connected to the couple. I really enjoy Carissa Broadbent though, I love her character writing within her books.
I read House of Leaves - hated it for *so* many reasons. Could have been an interesting enough short story, novella tops, is so not worth the page count and hours needed to get through. Good on you for being able to let it go early on!

Noooo house of leaves is a must read at least once! I know it seems intimdating, but I loved the cratove style theoughout
House of leaves is crazy cuckoo bananas for sure! I've been reading it for like 2 years now haha
