Those type of soft steamed dumpling are my son’s favorite food, he can eat 14 of them and he is very proud. I have tried to give him other dumplings like Polish perogi (soft potato and cheese), samosa, and Italian ravioli (boiled meat and cheese), but he wants the soft steamed dumpling like the folks here are having, which has many names. Gyoza (Japanese soft dumpling fried in pan), mandu (Korean meat dumpling), jiaozi, or potsticker (steamed or fried Chinese dumpling).
The very best are called “soup dumplings”, where an extremely potent and concentrated broth is cooled and cut into tiny cubes and used along with meat as the filling. As the dumpling heats the broth melts like fat into the inside of the dumpling and it’s just incredible. Soup dumplings are very difficult to make but some restaurants have them.

These dumplings are the Chinese 'jiaozi'.
The legend of their origin is an interesting tidbit of history, too.
They were thought to be invented during the era of the Eastern Han (AD 25 - 220) by Zhang Zhongjing, a great practitioner of traditional Chinese medicine.
Jiaozi were originally referred to as "tender ears" because they were used to treat frostbitten ears.
The legend goes that Zhang Zhongjing was on his way home during wintertime, when he found many common people had frostbitten ears, because they did not have warm clothes and sufficient food. He treated these poor people by stewing lamb, black pepper, and some warming medicines in a pot, chopped them, and used them to fill small dough wrappers. He boiled these dumplings and gave them with the broth to his patients, until the coming of the Chinese New Year. In order to celebrate the New Year as well as recovering from frostbitten ears, people imitated Zhang's recipe to make Jiao'er.
And eventually people tried steaming the dumplings, which worked out very well.

Their facial expressions are always so comical and they are so thankful. Keep the videos coming, seeing others truly enjoying the foods is so awesome. I'm a mom, grandma, wife so we always love seeing people happy while eating. Bless you all.

I get such a kick once Chaudry takes a bite of whatever in on the menu, starts chewing, and looks at the food and then the camera at least three before you can gauge if he likes it. He seems genuinely concerned and wanting to say the rt thing soas not to offend. I'd say he's my favorite of all the men but I enjoy the man w/ the handlebar mustache too. His eccentricness and all the colored rings make quite the show. Mr. Nawab is also a hoot. Seems most foods affect cough in his opinion. I admire his politeness in offering the hosts a bit of whatwvwr is on the day's taste menu. I also admire & respect that at least three of these gents say a prayer before they eat anything. It's not staged & that is admirable. Fun video concept. Many thanks to this vlog series creators. They too have a good heart. 💛💛💛

These are oriental style dumplings, in the USA what we call dumplings are totally different but equally delicious. The dumplings they have we call pot stickers.they are the same but we brown the bottom slightly. The American style are a wheat dough that has leavening in it. Depending upon where you live in the USA you will make sinkers the dough is flattened and cut into squares cooked in boiling chicken broth, the other type are called floaters, you drop spoonfuls of dough into boiling chicken broth. Both methods require 20 minutes of cooking time with a lid on top. Both of these are called chicken and dumplings. The chicken is put back into the broth after it's taken off the bones peas and carrots are added I like thicker broth so I add a slurry of cornstarch to the pan after I cook the dumplings as they will thicken the broth some, if the broth seems thin .

New here, so learning all the names of you gentlemen. I also now watch other channels like this and learning their names as well. Chaudhary makes me laugh, when he takes first bites, he always has this straight face, testing first if he likes it, is it hot, is it nasty...Hahaha. Tahir always looks to share and the health benefits of a dish. I'm not sure what sauce that is, but either plum sauce or orange sauce goes really awesome with dumplings. Pan fried might be enjoyable since it's more like theirs.

I hope you guys try make it yourself by watching tutorial videos on youtube! the dumpling wrap takes a bit of attention to get right but the mince inside should be easy! you can add even more veggies if you want! spinach is recommended! impressed with how everybody figured out whats in the dumplings right away.
Dumplings are important to northern Chinese culture and not necessary to us in the south but surely all Chinese people think highly of dumplings
