My favorite part was when they first viewed the shrimp tank with the shrimp in the feeding dish and the kid explained he only saw 1 in the dish and MD apologized and acknowledged he didn't understand his kid!!! Your parenting always seems so impeccable and I love that you are respectful to your kids! (Also tanks beautiful as always)
I agree with everyone, it is wonderful that you shared your son's visit to your studio with us. I remember when my father took me to his studio and office when I was your son's age, back in 1959. My father was an artist and an illustrator, and I would watch as he painted and created his artwork, and he played his violin for me. I was very impressed and thankful that my father brought me into his world, and I sure your son will be also. Plus I second the suggestion below that your son might scape his own tank, as a father and son project. He will always remember these things, this is so important!
It's great to see you with your lad, my three year old absolutely loves the hobby already, I think for me it's the most satisfying part, she can name all the fish, loves going to the shop and helps with all the water changes!

"Ello." That's so awesome! The great thing about the aquarium hobby for youngsters is that it puts them light years ahead of their peers in science. And not just biology, zoology and botany but other sciences like microbiology, chemistry, optics (the science of light) and even physics. Your boy is very observant and is clearly taking to it like, well, a fish to water.
I loved the Cory impression. I’ve got some Hasbrosus corys. They have so much personality. I have one that doesn’t know he’s a Cory. He hangs out with the guppies at the top, feeds at the surface, not shy at all.

Now she is 18, has a huge fish room her Dad built, loves cichlids, guppies, platies mollies, bettas, blue acaras and cories!!!!! and she actually wants to go into some type of aquatic entrepreneurship! It’s such a wonderful hobby and business as well. I thoroughly enjoy aquascaping and learning something new everyday with it. I just retired yesterday after 41 yrs with co. 🥂 and am so excited knowing I now have everyday I can spend enjoying & doing my aquascaping hobby! 🐠🌱. Your son is so enthusiastic and incredibly well spoken!! He reminds me of my son with my reptiles. I am currently keeping around 30 or so and he thoroughly enjoys getting to see any knew vivariums I build or enclosure updates!! Hopefully you can get him to do a build with you soon!!

Glad you are getting your kiddo into the hobby. You should bring him more often. My 9 year old daughter gets jealous of me and the fish tank. She says all I care about is the fish tanks. So I try to get her into it with me. She goes back and forth on liking it.

FISH are way better than TV! No TV, no games! The clubhouse vibe with tanks instead of TVs. Maybe set up a 4-ft action tank oriented with seating like a TV. Create a teaching tank with everything that is needed for fish-keeping right there at that tank. That would be sweet.

Just about to start up my 2 new tanks after 30 years absence from the hobby. 1 with dark start and one with dry start. An experiment for me. Rundning both with under gravel filters and deep substrate. Both are 72 liters. You have been the inspiration for me to start up again. Haven't run a tank since the 90's. My last tank I ran with under gravel filter and heavinly planted and a little bit overstocked. All I had to do was top it off with new water to Exchange for the evaporation.
A handsome little helper you have there. Can't wait to see him build up his first tank. Not only will it be educational, but a true adventure for him, and something that you can both be proud of. 🙆🙋🤷

Great video - Your son is amazing ! I like the idea of putting a tv & game system in so you can bring your kids in with you. They can help out & then relax too while you do your work. The important thing is that they are with you & spending time with you. My kids are grown (25 & 29) & I have a 6 yr old Grandson - It's all about making good memories & just spending time with them. It passes quickly - Make the most of it ! ❤
You should make an aquarium that's taller, like there is more soil in the tank, and have the soil packed upward like a hill or mountain or valley and you can put wood pieces under the corners so the gravel and rocks stay in place, I think a mountain aquarium would look great with a slanted hill that's more filled in the back of the tank and less filled in the front
