My ex was a musician on nearly all of the Carpenters albums. The horn solos on Close to you are all hi, believe me I dusted the Gold records for several years. I had always loved Karen and Richards music and had performed many of them in various choirs so I would often listen intently when he would relate stories of recording sessions with them. The one thing he always said was that not matter what they were hands down two of the nicest and best people he had ever worked for.
