Rarely comment on tutorials of any kind - but I want to thank you for this. Been diabetic for most of my life but I am new to cgm's and this was very helpful.
I just got my Libre2 sensor , I’ve been using the original Libre system Your videos have been excellent teaching me how to getting it up and running using the reader and my IPhone Thank you so much I live in Australia and I love your accent, keep up the videos they are great
Thanks for the video. I have been using FreeStyle Libre 14 day for over a year and a half . Love the idea that I have finger tips again. However, you seem to get an occasional itching and when the sensor is removed you get a skin discoloration. If you are not careful you can knock off the sensor from your arm . The sensor needs a doctor's prescription , so it can be costly . So, I have tried a new location starting today-my belly. This year the price has increase, even with my prescription insurance. So , I am debating the sensor price over the test strips price.
I use the Libre, what I wasn't told about it when I got it is the sensor itself doesn't have a needle, BUT the applicator that applies it DOES, that's how the filament on the sensor gets under the skin, doesn't hurt when you apply it tho, feels like a shot, actually my shots hurt worse then the sensor application lol I LOVE this thing!! I got my finger tips back, I was testing so often my finger tips actually got thick skin on them, and started bruising, now since I've been using the Libre, my finger tips have gone back to nice and soft, the price of the sensors tho for only 2 weeks is killing me lol monthly price around my area WITH a coupon from a RX saver site, was still $60-70 for each sensor
I want to say thank you so much for your video. It cemented my wanting to get one. My doctor has been fighting me about it because I am type 2 and not type 1. But he just put me on a third medication. And couldn’t understand my need. Well I wanted to start fasting and was scared to try it without a better way to track my sugar levels. Yesterday . I started my 20-22 hour fasting and this monitor is amazing! I have not had to take any meds and I am with in the 80-140 range all day the last two days. I have been double checking with a tester and I am only seeing slight differences. I will keep you posted if you like. Again I am sooo glad you made this video!!
I'm currently a DexCom G5 CGM user, but decided to order a free sample of the FreeStyle Libre after seeing several commercials on TV. I always enjoy feedback from people that have been using it a while!
Fantastic, I have done a comprehensive comparison of Libre with G6 here: th-cam.com/video/_jIjKW_56So/w-d-xo.html that you might find interesting. Also, Diabetic Danica has created this amazing video where she compared G5 with Libre th-cam.com/video/mesiXwZQOxk/w-d-xo.html
Thank you for this video - you answered one question I had about how the Freestyle Libre sensor is calibrated. None of the manufacturer's information really discusses this or describes what doing a finger-stick blood test with the device really does.
Thanks for the information. Libre is the best product for diabetes and I also use Blucon with Libre as it converts my sensor into real time CGM. Best products.
Thanks for the great information. I watched it previously when I was thinking about getting a glucose monitoring system and decided to get the Freestyle Libre 2. Thank you for your clear, concise, and helpful review of this system. Your video helped make my decision easy.
No problem. I’m so happy that you have found it helpful. Ive also done Freestyle Libre tips and tricks video which has even more information. I hope you enjoy that video too.
Super informative! I am using my Libre sensor with Nightrider Blucon and it is so cool that it eliminates the need to scan giving me the readings on my phone or watch in real-time!!

Thank you for your thorough analysis. I’m a Type 2 diabetic hoping to reverse the condition. I noticed big discrepancies between the Freestyle 2 and the finger prick Accu-Chek Performa Nano. When I check both at the same time. Libre Vs Accu 7.7 Vs 6.0 (just now) 8.1 Vs 7.2 (a few days ago) ...and so on. I called the company up and they said it was something to do with capillaries in the finger for the Accu Chek giving a quicker reading compared to the Libre in the arm. But as you say, "
This was super helpful, thanks so much - I found out you can get readings without the reader (using an NFC-capable phone) so I picked up a sensor from Amazon. Really appreciate the overview here, subscribing now!
Yeh you can do a manual scan every minute if you want to get a reading. Otherwise it will auto collect a reading every 5 mins over 8 hour time frames. I quite like it, especially the app and the graphs it gives. Very useful for testing out foods.
Thanks for the great information. I dont need to scan to view readings but it shows me every 5 minutes readings on my phone/smartwatch using blucon nightrider with libre sensors
Thank you for this informative video. I appreciate you teaching me more in depth what this lil gadget is doing. I've been using the 14 day Libre for a few months and I absolutely love it. My fingers were so sore from poking repeatedly and I'm still having some issues with them. This reader is extremely helpful with keeping up with where I'm at & what I'm eating. Subscribed.
Hi! Thank you for your informstion. My husband has used the system for about two years and we love it. Today, we applied his new sensor, scanned, waited the hour required but then did not get back to scan for a number of hours ..then we got a message that the sensor was not reading and to wait for five hours to try again. I will say that for the first time ever he had bleeding when sensor was applied so wonder what isbwrong. Any Israelis be appreciated! Thank you. Lpk
I really enjoy your videos. Great work. You are very authentic. You have clear objectives for each video that are laid out for the audience. You speak from the heart giving your honest opinion of the products you use and your emotions are real. When I saw your video on looping I could tell how truly excited you were when everything worked. When I set up my own loop afterwards I had the same response. Keep up the great work. You may consider that videos could be even better is you used a microphone. Thanks for your work. 😃

I use ambrosia's blucon with libre sensor to view real time readings and effect of food/medicine/exercise on sugars. It gives me alarms for HI/LO sugar. I dont need to scan to view readings but it shows me every 5 minutes readings on my phone/smartwatch
Hey I just got my sensor yesterday, but it seems as though I get numerous signal loss alarms. My phone ends up being in one room and I am walking around the house during the day, and sometimes I get the alarm indicating signal loss. How can I see easily be corrected? Do I have to constantly carry my phone around? I do right now to avoid the signal loss and I do scan more than three times per day. Does restarting my phone help with this? Please let me know. Thank you so much for this awesome video.
I just started mine today. Doc just told me to start taking readings, and knows I have a legit fear or needles. She's seen the aftermath of a TDaP shot. (lol). Thanks for the video, it was really informative.
Thank You for the insight...I am getting a FSL tomorrow...I have been on the DexcomG6 for the past year ish and my new insurance now makes the FSL the only affordable option...I will eventually get a bridge of sorts for a realtime cgm option...It's the hypo alarms I need so I can sleep safely...Thank You! Keep up the great work!
I just got mine after requesting this from my doctor's, I did the process, but I have to know how to read the data info if it is high or low , just like the regular blood glucose machines that I've been using.
Nice🙂we got the perscription from the doctor last december for my son (6).my husband and i love it! My son tried the dexcom for a few days, but we where not happy at all. The constant calibrating and alarm drove us nuts🤪 The only problem we have had,is that he riped it off twice while playing. We need a good solution to protect it more.
Hi. so I've only knocked my sensor off ones and Abbott replaced it. Abbott has 14-day sensor guarantee and you are qualified for a replacement sensor when that happens. Mine was knocked off in the Ryanair toilet and I don't want to share more details 😂🤣 and it was on the 13-day and they still replaced it. To actually solve the issue, you can use special big plasters available at boots or your local pharmacy. Also, you can buy specially made libre patches on some websites ( i think RockaDex is one). They basically make the adhesive bigger so it sticks better but i still think a patch that covers the entire sensor will be better ( one that fully covers it). I hope that helps
Thanks for the great video! I’m newly diagnosed as Type 1 and this helped in understanding the Freestyle Libre. I’ve just got mine this week and I’m enjoying the ease of use compared to finger pricking 👍🏻
Thanks for that video. I found it extremely off from finger prick even to the point if I had given myself a shot based on Libre readings I would have dropped too much and passed out which by the way is not fun. Like the concept but don’t like passing out.

I am diabetic for 25+ years and I loop for a less expansive sensor. Is there one? In Rio de Janeiro it costs around BRL$ 240.00 for a 14-day sensor. That"s about US$60.00.
Hi Diabetic Energetic, thanks a lot for this video! In search for the appropriate CGM system (first time user) I have been following lately quite a number of contributions and comments on the Internet regarding that topic but still I cannot make up my mind. Since the new Dexcom G6 is not available yet in my country I tend to decide for the Freestyle Libre in combination with the Ambrosia Blucon Nightrider, which is now also waterproof if I understand correctly, and the SpikeApp. A bit irritating I find the varying impressions people have regarding the accuracy of measurement results of the various systems but I guess that one has to live with this for now and just find the most suitable system for oneself. Thank you very much for your great contributions and help! You are really doing a great job! All best wishes!
Hi, I do not have reader with me as I forgot it in England. I have only sensors with me. I am on holidays now. Can I use my mobile App to start my sensor? Kind Regards,
Yes, you can. Its only if you want to use a phone and a machine together then they suggest you calibrate by first scanning the machine and then the phone.
Hello I’ve got a question about xdrip+ iam having a problem before it calibrates there is a screen collecting initial readings ? Data collector running do you no how long it takes before it’s collected data ?? Because I’ve been waiting hrs many thanks martin
I dont really understand what you mean by the first part of the question. And adhesive works great for some and not so great for others so it really depends 😀
When I got diagnosed with type 1 diabetes it was actually right about when Medtronic g670 pump came out, so yeah not so long ago. Within a month I ordered and received my g670 pump and the following month I have received it’s guardian cgm, long story short I have used guardian only one sensor and found it very inaccurate, asking for calibration all the time, especially at night when I’m trying to get some sleep, I literally took it out after 5 days, year later a have it a shot again thinking maybe they sensor was faulty, the same story with the other sensor. The sensor actually fell off the second day due to its poor design. I was working around the house and just bending over will loosen it up and the shape of it will cause you to get you to pull it with your shirt by accident if you are active. Trash, don’t ever buy that Medtronic cgm. I was totally agains cgm because of it but I have a shot freestyle live 2months who and I’m extremely happy with it. Easy to put it on, can’t be easier, pretty accurate, yeah sometimes is a little behind when you inject a lot of insulting to bring your glucose down or you are/drank a lot of fast acting carbs but it evens out soon enough. I love freestyle libre cgm. I barely prick my finger anymore once in few days. In the beginning I was still pricking my finger while using libre sensor just so I can compare it and see if I’m comfortable with the accuracy.
How are people getting freestyle Libras and other things like insulin pumps. I can only guess they are loaded and just buy them. I'm on 6 dosees of insulin a day so six injection for years and the NHS still won't put me on a pump. Plus absolutely no chance of having a free style Libra unless you're on a pump. I've tried everything. I know enough about unit to carb conversion and so on. Anyone have any tips
Thank you for the information and your answers to my questions again. This video has made things even more clear for me and I greatly appreciate it. I'm currently working out a chart of the difference between the reader and my 3rd party Android app so I can keep treating correctly thru the 4 extra days (allowing the sensor to last 14 days instead of just 10). I wouldn't even know about the apps without your work and videos. Thanks
Thank you so much for this comment. I’m so glad to hear that you found my videos helpful. I hope that you will be able to get 14 days out of your sensors 😃😃
Recently i note large differences freestyle libre and my conventional pricky meter. This was confirmed by a recent hospital visit where my doctor confirmed such. I then changed my freestyle libre to a brand new one and a new sensor. Am I doing something wrong
Mom recently got one too. We knew washing hands is important when doing fingersticks, but hand sanitizer made the fingerstick much much higher. She typically uses an accu-chek compac, now discontinued and I use a one touch ultra. My one-touch ultra used on her blood was 1 point different than the Libre. So, brief comparisons were done with the integral strip meter in the scanner, a one-touch meter and a Accucheck compak, generally trying to use a sample from a single fingerstick. I do have the differences documented. handling suggary substances with your hands can mess up a fingerstick reading. The hand sanitizer inaccuracy was recently discovered. The meter is slippery. I just put some food grade silicone rubber with Pressure sensitive adhesive on one side on the side of the meter without the USB port. More surface area - more friction. Mom doesn't have fingerprints. She wore the telltale lines off her fingers. The quick start guide doesn't tell you that you need to be within 1.5 inches. It uses NFC. I didn't know it was not a needle until the sensor was removed. Their documentation is inconsistant. The QS quide shows the backside of the scanner toward the sensor and the manual shows the other side. Your video shows both too. It makes "MORE SENSE" to use the backside. Clothing can unintentionally activate the touch screen. Setting the scanner to vibrate works good. There is no mention of this. Sometimes BACK is the power button. Setting like buzzer should be drag and not press to avoid accidental changes. One support rep said the sensor did not contain a battery. Another rep and the manual says it does. You can see the silver oxide battery when the sensor is removed, The first two sensors lasted about 15 hours. The rechargeable battery in the meter does not appear to be replaceable. No one could answer disposal questions. You have biohazard and batteries together which is not a good combination to dispose of. I installed the sensor and lost the reader. We didn't find it until the next day. Scanning, not insertion activates the sensor. The touch screen is slow responding to touch. The strip and blood icon is a reminder that the sensor may not be accurate. It's always there from hour 2 through 10h (not sure of the number). The sensor is not readable for the 1st hour. Today is day 6 of her using the Libre.
the sensors are most likely batch tested for quality control at the factory. they are not individually tested. so what happens to those batches that fail QC? are they shipped to countries with weak consumer rights? i am having up to 50% error when i check with finger stick. and i have to check a disclaimer box when i buy on-line. they are expensive and not covered by any insurance or government scheme.
Thanks for the info i have a question is it ok if i buy the sensor without the scanning device and install the app on my phone instead or it doesn’t work this way?
I'm in the USA but have a question. When does the sensor starting counting toward the 10 days (in USA not 30)? Is it 12 hours after the first scan or anytime you use it after the first scan 12 hour countdown?
Well so abbott has received FDA approval for 14 day sensor with 1 h actiovation a while ago and as far as i am concered it is now available to some patients.Speak to your healthcare provider to switch from 10 days to 14 days sensors or call Abbott US 😀
Just got one Feb 2019 USA. Has 1 hour activation. Had to remove first sensor after 3 days because of medical and only day 2 for second. Trying both arms. Right arm had arm/hand pain, hand swelled, and nausea. Left arm pain for an hour then arm and hand feels weird. On day 2.
This was great, thanks, been searching for "how does the freestyle libre glucometer work?" for a while now, and I think this has helped. You ever tried - Camebattian Mysterious Convenience - (search on google ) ? It is a good one of a kind guide for discovering how to end your diabetes problem minus the hard work. Ive heard some extraordinary things about it and my work buddy got amazing results with it.
The Dexcom G6 is far from complicated. The G4 and 5 were problematic, especially for people with dexterity issues, but the G6 is truly a marvel and so easy to insert.
What is the price of that freestyle libre and how does the package come when you first buy it if it complete or you have to order separately the sensors and the reader how much are the sensors? Thank you
you forgot to mention how poorly the adhesive is on the sensor. if you perspire at all it will fall off. I have to tape mine up. Very poor design. but maybe they will extend the adhesive area out a little more and that would help. Thanks for the vid.

As a nurse I swear this device is worth it, so amazing for patients that use it, especially for those who need to check CBGs for or more times a day.
What is aCBGs ?
Very useful infirmation. Thank you for sharing
Very good advice. Just got mine so am just getting used to it.
Thanks so much. I'm glad that my advice helped you with the FSL. Ive also created a video with tips and tricks that you might find useful.
Thank you so much for this lovely comment, I hope that you will be able to get a CGM system that works best for you.
Very helpful! Keep up the good work!
I just got one today and it has alarms and vibrations? Is this new?
Thanks for sharing. 👍🙏🙂
Very Infornative. You explained it the Best.. so .. far👍🏽👍🏽
Thanks so much. Means a lot
Is there a way to track the readings from the scanner and iPhone on one device?
THANK YOU for your review! You are so knowledgeable and I am a newbie! THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU
Thanks so much. I hope you enjoy libre ☺️
Hi,
I do not have reader with me as I forgot it in England. I have only sensors with me. I am on holidays now. Can I use my mobile App to start my sensor?
Kind Regards,
Yes, you can. Its only if you want to use a phone and a machine together then they suggest you calibrate by first scanning the machine and then the phone.
Thank you for such an informative video.
Thanks so much 😊☺️☺️
Im getting mine next week.
Hello I’ve got a question about xdrip+ iam having a problem before it calibrates there is a screen collecting initial readings ? Data collector running do you no how long it takes before it’s collected data ?? Because I’ve been waiting hrs many thanks martin
Great knowledge transfer. Thanks.
My doctor has given me prescription for this unit. What does it take to support it? Is it effected by sweat?
You might want to look into Eversense CGM - made my life so much better
How are people getting freestyle Libras and other things like insulin pumps. I can only guess they are loaded and just buy them. I'm on 6 dosees of insulin a day so six injection for years and the NHS still won't put me on a pump. Plus absolutely no chance of having a free style Libra unless you're on a pump. I've tried everything. I know enough about unit to carb conversion and so on. Anyone have any tips
A very good explanation, although very camo
If there is a way to transfer your readings history to a computer graph or excell chart on a computer that would be very helpful.
Try LibreView
Mom just got her libre and it's showing her blood sugar 100 points different then the one she was using. We don't know how much insulin to administer
Great video. I'll be going on the libre system today. I hope I like it.
How to say you are good because of that I’m going to get one thank you
Thank you for your great information!!!!
the sensors are most likely batch tested for quality control at the factory. they are not individually tested. so what happens to those batches that fail QC? are they shipped to countries with weak consumer rights? i am having up to 50% error when i check with finger stick. and i have to check a disclaimer box when i buy on-line. they are expensive and not covered by any insurance or government scheme.
I wore it one day and was able to get my results but the next day it stopped. What do I do? It is very expensive to replace.
Thanks for the info
i have a question is it ok if i buy the sensor without the scanning device and install the app on my phone instead or it doesn’t work this way?
Sarah Thamer Yes. It does. You can activate and scan with your phone. Don’t need the reader.
@@TypeOneTalks cool thank you! :D
Can it be used for type 2 diabetes? And I saw that Medicare now covers it on an ad in FB. Do you know if that’s true?
Yes
Good review. Thanks
I'm in the USA but have a question. When does the sensor starting counting toward the 10 days (in USA not 30)? Is it 12 hours after the first scan or anytime you use it after the first scan 12 hour countdown?
So as far as i am concered the 10 day clock starts at the end of the 12 h ( now 1 h in the US) activation period.
Nerdabetic it’s now 1 hour in the USA? Started my last sensor two days ago and still had 12 hour wait.
On day 2.
Great info
I've had mine for about 4 years
thanks my man, good info for a new user.
Thanks so much ☺️
thanks! im just on my second sensor and its awesome!
That’s amazing. I’m so happy that you like it 😊
This was great, thanks, been searching for "how does the freestyle libre glucometer work?" for a while now, and I think this has helped.
Had mine attached. The sensor would not read after the one hour warm up and said attach a new sensor...Using samsung android A50 smartphone
Great Video! By the way, How often do you change the sensor?
Libre is changed every 14 days 😁
Thank you!
What is the price of that freestyle libre and how does the package come when you first buy it if it complete or you have to order separately the sensors and the reader how much are the sensors? Thank you
Hi . So price depends on your country and insurance provider 😅😃 please speak to your local abbott team
you forgot to mention how poorly the adhesive is on the sensor. if you perspire at all it will fall off. I have to tape mine up. Very poor design. but maybe they will extend the adhesive area out a little more and that would help. Thanks for the vid.
Hi. Thanks for your comment. I have talked about ways to make it stick for a longer period of time in this video with my Libre tips and tricks. th-cam.com/video/o7R5Of-iWfk/w-d-xo.html
Thank you :)
Can the Libre sensor be worn through airport security? thanks for the info.
Yea it can.
Great video! and really useful info, keep up the good work!! ;)
Thank you so much 😆😃
Need a video on how to use with the App on a Samsung phone, It worked the first time I tried it and now it's not working.
