Architect Melanie Beynon's Prahran home evolved to meet her family's changing needs. Initially a two-person household, it now serves a family of four, necessitating extensions and renovations over time.
The transformation began in 2009 with a bathroom and laundry renovation, followed by changes to improve the kitchen/dining/living spaces while retaining the original 90s extension. A new glass hallway connects the house to the new sitting room and compact courtyard, creating versatile living spaces.
Materiality was essential, wanting texture and a minimalist interior. Melanie's design choices emphasized simplicity, with second bricks finished in micro-cement. The result is a cohesive, future-proofed home she never plans to leave.

Thank you for the great contents!
Thank you so much Airamay, I truly appreciate your support of the channel.
Interesting and well thought out. I do wonder though how hot that glass hallway would get in a Melbourne summer.
what do you mean it's just you behind this channel?
the content is amazing, the filming and video editing is amazing, the audio quality is amazing.
i am shook
Yep, I handle everything. Thank you for your words though, it's lovely to hear that.
You can see the level of conceptual refinement in the design due to the gentle and thoughtful changes made; beautiful.
I totally agree, slow steady is winning the race here!
I love the attention to detail and the great use of natural lighting. Excellent work
Minimalist Tranquil homes are often well-organized and clutter-free. The outdoor table and chairs is I think my favorite area here. 🥰🥰
Love the glass hallway overseeing the courtyard, as well as the wooden sunroom, gives a real warmth feeling. Other parts are ok.
The glass hall looking at the courtyard is a great idea
Thank you for your videos, I always look forward to seeing what's new. Congratulations on your baby, it is so cute.
Thank you, Slavi, Little Dweller's debut on the channel!
Thanks. That's quite inspirational. The floorplan makes a lot of sense. Lucky they are on such a long block.

Thank you, Jillian!
Nice house and design!
Really nice space
This house felt very Bladerunner in theme, which I think is great.
It will be cool if the plant sta for more second on the screen even I pause th video to understand and put a flag on the entrance of the house, and say what kind of whether is to imagine how different the solutions could be like in diferent countries .
It will be cool if you can contact some japoneses architect to share how they treat privacy in her homes ,often a I see a lot of homes with bathroons , rooms and spaces that in my country we want privacy in they spaces isn't a necessity, one thing I note is in the japoneses houses sometimes could live 4 people but one bathroom toilet , in germany too here if isn't a popular house we usually have 2 bathroons.
Except for the courtyard, everything else is depressing
Sorry but I'm not sitting through those boring advertisements. That's when I switch off.
Congrats and thank you this is boatful. Your content is fantastic. Keep up with this amazing channel.
