I am pretty sure his statement is still true. You can thank the warmonger ally, US, for any escalations and that taiwanese flag ending up seeing as forbidden in the near future. The US wants a war so badly. I can’t understand why Taiwanese don’t notice they are better off without the US in terms of stability and peace. Buying a lot of weapons from the US thanks to tensions that the US causes.
Even you are telling people, hey look, I'm stretching in Falungong style, no one gonna give a shit. Not to mention if you wear a Taiwan flag, people might just think the patterns pretty cool.

In China, day to day law enforcement is rather lax, and social norms are let's say, easygoing. People often drive on the wrong side of the road, smoke in shops, piss in the street, etc. It's very rare actually for a Chinese policeman to give you any grief. But that's not the same thing at all as freedom, which is based upon rule of law. In almost any western country, there's a web of laws within a framework of democratic law-making, an independent judiciary, and often pretty strict policing. It's a paradox. But for example, if you are arrested in China, you can basically disappear, certainly for a week or two, because the same laws and attitudes that allow the police to quiz you on the streets in the USA also constrain what the police there can do to you, which isn't very much. They basically can arrest you and question you, and you have to be either charged or released within a day or so. And all the time, you have a right to legal representation, paid for by the state if necessary.
I went to China a few years back and met some fellow Christian Ex-Pats there and they told me from their experience that they weren't able to carry their bibles around and if they were outreaching they had to do it in secret. Also, they had to belong to a church that was registered by the government. I also learned from my Chinese mentors that talking about the event in Tiananmen Square was taboo. Although I heard these things, I went to China and I loved it. The people, the food, everything. I am still learning the language and I would definitely go again. This is just what I was told from people who experienced it first hand. I'm sure those who made this video isn't doing it out of hate for China. If they were, they wouldn't have videos that help people learn the language, they would be spewing anti-Chinese/ Chinese government propaganda in all their videos. Cut them some slack. My Chinese (Mainlander) friend said that if you waved a Taiwanese/ROC flag in Tiananmen Square, no one would care. Wave a Japanese flag and, as he said, they will beat you up (not just the police, ordinary people would beat you up)
Sorry but I don't agree that putting your palms together and doing the stretching exercise that is similiar to falun gong may get you in trouble in China, especially for a foreigner- at least not nowadays. Putting the palms together is a Buddhist tradition, and there are plenty of Buddhists in China. The other exercise is found in a lot of Chinese qigong exercises that are not part of falun gong. I agree that there may be other things that could offend, but I have not experienced this and I am both Buddhist, and have practiced qigong and martial arts with many different people in many parks etc. in China
I bet that anti-mainlandChina sect that thrives in the US sponsored the video with a nice bank check. Makes no sense, cheap propaganda to paint China as evil. Only the Tibetan flag would be illegal (very reasonable).
You can buy English Bible in big bookstores in China (KJV). Chinese Bible is also available but in so-called old-books stores (舊書店). I bought one, even got a receipt for it. The problem starts when you're trying to bring many Bibles at once.
Unlikely to get you arrested, but still good tips. Also, don't give the Nazi salute in Germany, and don't burn a flag or a bible in the US, though not illegal. ....Just good advice.

Except tibet is serious. Other things are silly...
I love how you are so honest about the situation and that you use traditional Chinese. These days people easily forget what's the truth now that China is such a superpower..
I've been to china many times (was also born there) and I certainly say that whilst the Falungong practise is banned and punishable with jail time etc, taking a bible waving a tibetan flag and wearing a taiwanese cap will not get you arrested. Ive walked around with a shirt that has the american flag on it (didn't get arrested). Go to any market street in China and i can almost guarantee that some of the stall vendors will be selling stuff with american flags on it, statue of liberty, things to do with taiwan etc.
Charles Jia A guy recently got arrested for waving a Taiwanese flag in Yan'an. It was the world war II stronghold of the Communist party, where they hid while the Nationalists fought the Japanese, so perhaps a more sensitive spot than usual, but it can happen.
Well wearing a cap with a Taiwanese flag on and walking around on the street is certainly different to going to a place like that and waving a Taiwanese flag around. While yes these things happen stretching and carrying a bible certainly will not get you arrested. It does depends on context though as well. I would like to add I do enjoy your videos but I feel as if this one in particular is slightly exaggerated
***** no you won't. This video exaggerates a lot. While certainly and unfortunately you will get arrested for practising falungong you certainly will not get arrested for stretching. I've gone to China wearing an American flag Singlet and I got back in one piece with no trouble at all
***** Don't worry about it it's a lot more relaxed than you might think. I once told a police officer to "kindly f*ck off" because he was harassing my cousin nothing happened apart from his partner pulling him away from us
+Jhanica Loma well, before it was banned, there were a lot of ppl died of practising falungong because of its slogan of "going to the heaven", which means that if u kill urself u can go to heaven or sth like that. (at least that was what my relatives, friends and family told me, and i searched up the pictures on google image. But the thing is, that if u search it on google image, it doesnt likely show the dark side of it cuz a lot of ppl in western countries are still keeping that kinda practice) There are also ppl saying that, after the leader of falungong fled to the States, he changed the way of practicing and have been trying to carry it on with completely different concepts of practicing, so there wont be anymore ppl restricting it from practicing. Anyways i believe that it was a bad thing, cuz two of my grandma's friends committed suicide after practicing falungong(that was a long time ago). If anybody who practises falungong saw this comment, plz dont judge me cuz im just saying what i was told. Hope this helps! :)
+Helen Monstee It isn't really like that Helen, Falun Gong does not tell people to make suicide. It's very easy to have proof about it: you can read the main book Zhuan Falun and you will read that it's very important for a practitioner to NOT kill. It teaches people to cultivate their self and help others. If someone inside or outside China talks about suicide or autoimmolating, its something that came from the Chinese Communist Party propaganda. It's an hoax. CCP have slandered the practice from the moment it started persecuting millions of people who tries only to become better person, practicing meditation and following the principles of the practice (Truthfulness, Compassion, Tolerance), only because this principles, the traditional value of chinese culture, were threatening the power of the communist regime. And the Master of the practice didn't changed anything about it, everything is clear and free in the official website. Please, check out more about the persecution of Falun Gong, because it's possible to misunderstood about this story, and more important to know the real truth. Trust me, and search more about it (Dafoh, Epoch Times, NTD are good sources).
+Jhanica Loma Falun Gong is a spiritual practice that has been made public in 1992 in China by Master Li Hongzhi, who has distributed it free of charge through the conference, after it has been handed down to him. It consists of five meditative exercises and moral teachings that are assimilated to three principles, "Truthfulness, Compassion, Tolerance" (Zhen, Shan, Ren). It's a very ancient practice, which until 1999 has spread openly in mainland china. However, after 100 million people have begun to practice (many more of the Chinese Communist Party members), the regime saw this practice as a threat to his power, which is based on an ideology totally contrary to what can be defined true and good, so since 1999 Falun Gong practitioners in China are persecuted brutally, which includes arrests, torture and forced organ harvesting.
Davide Giannotti ok :) tbh i dont know it that well either, but it does not sound pleasant to me. u know everybody in China says that falungong is bad but i dont quite understand how it is. thx for ur explanation :)
An English guy from my university was arrested in China for practicing Falun Gong. I cannot comment on the validity of the others but falun gong is definitely persecuted. I tried to do an essay on Falun Gong but didn't get anywhere, political leaders from China and senior figures of Falun Gong all refused to talk to me, so in the end I had to scrap the idea.
As a Chinese, I think the video is a little bit exaggerated, the Tibetan flag is absolutely banned in China, I don't make a comment on this issue, whereas, the images which show the police suppresses monks you used in the video are not Chinese police because of the uniform. I agree with the point of Taiwan's flag, it depends on the place and time. About Falungong's gestures, I don't really think police will have time to spy on everyone's behaviour
I bet that anti-mainlandChina sect that thrives in the US sponsored the video with a nice bank check. Makes no sense, cheap propaganda to paint China as evil. Only the Tibetan flag would be illegal (very reasonable).
I used to like your videos so much… but after watching this video I have to question all your other videos! What a load of bs is that?? I wonder if you guys have been to China in the last 10-20 years at ALL? This is the worst propaganda video that I have ever seen! Just a note, I'm NOT even Asian but I have been to China in the last 10 years, lived with families, travelled around the country. I'm not a tourist, I "live" the country. And in a weird way I feel insulted by this video although I'm not Chinese! lol. I'm shocked!
A very good tip is to not get caught with a prostitute! A friend of ours from Hong Kong disappeared for 2 weeks, apparently he got locked up in a Chinese prison before being let go.
I think you are trying to do it well, please also inform us about other important sensitive things to know as well beyond the daily conversational language stuff.
Same conversation I had with my wife before she took me back to China for the first time. "Are you serious? ok I'm not going now ... don't be silly, just don't do anything that will get you arrested ... ok."
I bet that anti-mainlandChina sect that thrives in the US sponsored the video with a nice bank check. Makes no sense, cheap propaganda to paint China as evil. Only the Tibetan flag would be illegal (very reasonable).
The Taiwan and Tibet flags are definitely not a good idea to bring to mainland China, but the advice about not doing anything like Falong Gong Qigong is stupid. If you go to any park in China people practice Taiji, Qigong and stretch every day without any association with Falong Gong.
this video is exaggerating the problem, for example the bible, the stretching[also does in taichi, who dosn't stretch? I do it all the time, i see cop do it when they r tired of stand guarding], the hands together"Nihao." ok what ever, it might be 20 years ago, not now no. All this video showing is anti communist.
Actually DArtBBW25 is not entirely wrong, taiwan was conquered by Qin but had been considered a seperate entity similar to like japan. There has always been a differenciation between the Han and local people. In fact, historically China did not bother about Taiwan until the Qin dynasty when the China government realised that Taiwan was a good location to deter Japanese advances. Kangxi even asked that the island not be included in a map that was made.
so if im practicing yoga then i could get in trouble?cuz it type of mediation or type of stretching?im new to hongkong and i wanna go to park and practice yoga?can u plz give me suggestion.
Okay I definitely did falungong both the hands and stretching publicly in china...thank god there weren't any policemen around or nobody reported me! shit hearing it now kinda sends chills down my spine!
._. i used to clap my hands in that first religious gesture because i was socially awkward and nervous at the chinese-based place i worked ....i thought i embarrassed myself in every way possible there...... why didn't i know that before
This video is almost 100% nonsense. You can do everything except wear a T-shirt printing "Free Tibet" but I think seldom people has such item even in their hometown so why does one have to try to insult Chinese people deliberately when you travel in China?
I feel like although some of the things they stated are a little extreme, the point is more to show how oppressive the government is. Although you can stretch and wear Taiwanese flags and carry bibles without being arrested, they still mention how the government dislikes these harmless acts or has banned other things associated with them
Next time before you post such kind of videos you should better make sure what you said is true, at least visit China once. I know maybe your expected audience are only western people who are curious about China but never been there. But I think you should at least pay a little attention to be avoided being laughed at by Chinese people, since only we know what you are saying is not what is happening in China. I was born in China and live there for the first 27 years of my life, so I think I may know a little more about China. If you read here, you may probably think me as another product of Chinese government's propaganda, well, believe me or not is up to you. Finally, the best way to learn China is having a trip there.
Bravo! Truths are worthwhile to be revealed and specially in such a creative way by responsible youths like both of you to bring freedom for the oppressed. all the best
This video, and watching others on the China Uncensored channel, have really made me wonder if it is wise to actually learn Chinese with the thought of going there for studies and business in the future. Is it really so dangerous there? If I were to bring a Christian (not a Catholic) Bible with me, would I really get arrested or stalked by the police???
that part and the body gesture thing are totally bullshit. almost every city in China has a church and sometimes christian people stand on the street giving over fliers to try to convert people into christian. So if you really go to China, just take your bible and enjoy all the body gestures you like. So many foreigners in every city of China, how many of them have you heard arrested because of those stuff? the girl is from taiwan and most of the taiwanese like criticising mainland to feel superior without even knowing the true. If you really want to know china, go to this vedio "China, how is it"- the maker is currently in china and has been there for a while, he knows most how there is
As long as you keep it private, won't try to convert people and/or engage in public prayers or theology absolutely nothing will happen. Even a discreet cross by your neck is fine. Keep it in the bedroom (no pun) and they won't care. Don't ask, don't tell (no pun, too). China basically don't bother foreigners as long as they don't act stupid and provocative.
For fuck's sake some westerners' level of prejudice is beyond stupidity! uggg....ANYONE here had done some fucking research would know the freedom of religion is granted in the CONSTITUTION OF PEOPLE'S REPUBLIC OF CHINA! I myself, born and raised in mianland, even went to mass in one of the local churches in my hometown once with my mom when I was like 7 or 8.SIGH, I mean come on! China has been having daoists and buddhists for fucking centuries before most you western asses were even dropped to the face of earth! Sorry for the attitude, but sympathy and standing up for justice is one thing, don't get me wrong. However, making and believing prejudices and one sided "feel bad" for people that you do not have a clue about is plain arrogance and stupidity.
ahh.....Why is this so hard...let my just paste the chapter of domestic religion policies here第三十六条 中华人民共和国公民有宗教信仰自由。 Number 36 Citizens of the People's Republic of China have freedom of religion. Any government administration, social group, or individual can neither force Chinese citizens to believe or not to believe religions nor discrimite them base on if they believe religions or not. The state protects normal religion activities. Any individual must not make use of religions in order to achieve actions of destroying social orders, harming health of Chinese citizens, or interfering national education system. Religion groups and reglion affairs must not be manipulated by foreign forces.
I'm sure you personally feel that "someone said it's a cult, makes it so" is suffecient. I'll try to clarify more so, a Cult is a religious faction (rarely ever makes it to full organization) that refutes & denies the learning of other religions. While the Catholic Church is having gatherings of religious leaders to meet in peace, why is it that China denies them? I know that quite often Religion is used for political gain, but I wish you could be more informed on what a cult really is.
Chang Yang State sanctioned versions of the bible are permitted, but many Christians and Catholics don't recognize this as the true bible since it has been edited by censors. Many of the others mentioned in the video are really big human rights issues in China, for example there are people who practice Falun Gong literally being tortured prisons by the Communist Regime, yet they have committed no crime.
Id like to remind u that China is not a Christian country. To most of non-chirstian Chinese people like me, bible is none other than ordinary publication. Since all pubications are "censored" by gov and to obey the law, no excuse to let it go free. Right? Some hardhanded Falun gong believers are put into jail, but not been trotured. Moreover, these guys also have faults. American people like you should care more about your gun shot murder in your country. Only in CA, 1,879 people are killed in 2012. And also lots of shit happen like in Ferguson. Compare with bible version argument, its more serious human rights issue. Right?
Chang Yang This is not supposed to be a China vs America argument. This video was about China, you can find plenty of videos to watch on TH-cam that will tell you about bad things that have gone on in America. But by the way, there is a huge amount of evidence of Falun Gong practitioners and other groups such a human rights lawyers being tortured in Chinese prisons. If you are in a western country, where there isn't so much censorship on the internet, I would encourage you to look it up, you may find the results quite shocking.
guys this may not be 100% accurate but appreciate the commitment. it's probably similar to wearing a hat in the us w the confederate flag on it, won't get you arrested but definitely some looks
LOL this is great. Would you really get arrested if you were a foreigner? I'd imagine the government would want foreigners to have a positive thought on the government. But ya, if that's how it would be for a foreigner...I'm suddenly not too excited about going to China... I stretch all the time!!!! (and probably without thinking about it!)
0:23 shows Indian police beating Tibetan monks, by the way. I liked your first video and unfortunately encountered this one. I got it that you guys may come from Taiwan and believed in a different system. But it's still simply wrong to use incorrect political propaganda to teach language and cultures. Having a Bible in China and being from Taiwan get you arrested without reason? Were you time travelers from Mao's time? I know that you know this is not true, but well, as long as it fits in your political view.
A lady who was in our tour bus was taken off by military officers and she never came back on the bus..Forgot I was in a communist country wen i went ova...... beautiful tho... would like to keep goin back..
"But from the point of the party, it kinda makes sense to ban it." From the point of view of a psychopathic, heartless, freedom hating, murderous, tyrannical mob to be specific.
dont know why i would wear a Tibet or Taiwan flag. The only flag that I might wear is a Russian one which is on my Russian jacket. I was not arrested in China for wearing that.
Well, u can easily get arrested by cops here in the US as well..... FYI, 0:23-0:25 it is not Chinese cops, misleading image....Ohhh,0:33 She seems to know Tibet pretty well, have u ever been there before, my pretty lady? 0:37, try that, I'll give u a million dollar if u got arrested by just doing that. 1:15, Really?... It is same like taking a picture of Manhattan and tell ppl that this is USA... the fact is most parts of the States are suburbs.....

Who left the CRT television on? There is a really annoying high pitched sound as soon as I start this video. And it stops when I pause.
so which races of people should be allowed to speak/teach languages such as Chinese?
Well after reading the comments posted here, I think a video on wumao's might be appropriate. Fifty cents forever!
And in a weird way I feel insulted by this video although I'm not Chinese! lol. I'm shocked!
jeweljin Good friend of China! Thank you!
tons of church out there..and I saw a beautiful Roman Catholic church in Xiamen, Fujian
Yeah, Peggy is back! Miss her :)
And thanks for great video again.
Sir, please don't throw away your viewers' respect for you and your videos. This isn't travel advice at all. It's just a load of BS.
So - working for a network which produces and disseminates anti-CPP videos won't get you arrested?
It was a province of China during the Qing dynasty, directly before the 50 years of Japanese rule.
"Are you serious? ok I'm not going now ... don't be silly, just don't do anything that will get you arrested ... ok."
i dont think this channel is telling people the real china
+Ethan Zhang ikr, how can u be a criminal by stretching ur arms like that? my dad does it all the time outside in the crowds and nobody even cares!
Of course not. Channels like this are run by Falun Gong, but they won't tell you they're Falun Gong because that instantly turns many viewers away
I understand your point :) but how to determine which groups should be allowed and which groups should not?
The greeting is actually used in Thailand.
this video is exaggerating the problem, for example the bible, the stretching[also does in taichi, who dosn't stretch?
Wow yall summed it all up, thanks for this Video.
Thank you so much
Sorry for the previous posts
Are you being serious? Do I have to stretch in secret?
so if im practicing yoga then i could get in trouble?cuz it type of mediation or type of stretching?im new to hongkong and i wanna go to park and practice yoga?can u plz give me suggestion.
Okay I definitely did falungong both the hands and stretching publicly in china...thank god there weren't any policemen around or nobody reported me! shit hearing it now kinda sends chills down my spine!
Me: Blinks
Chinese police: Well, well, well... Looks like we got ourselves a troublemaker!!
he is not saying the government is foreign, he is saying communism is a foreign idea
The Falun Gong stretching thing *really* scared me ( Ô)~
._. i used to clap my hands in that first religious gesture because i was socially awkward and nervous at the chinese-based place i worked ....i thought i embarrassed myself in every way possible there...... why didn't i know that before
bible is OK anyway, and those gestures are actually fine too
But what about the quran?
Shouting autonomy for the Uighurs in Tianmen square may get you into trouble too.
Excellent video!! Great job!! Keep it up.
This video is almost 100% nonsense. You can do everything except wear a T-shirt printing "Free Tibet" but I think seldom people has such item even in their hometown so why does one have to try to insult Chinese people deliberately when you travel in China?
I laughed, but now I don't know if it was supposed to be funny.
I got your point!
I feel like although some of the things they stated are a little extreme, the point is more to show how oppressive the government is. Although you can stretch and wear Taiwanese flags and carry bibles without being arrested, they still mention how the government dislikes these harmless acts or has banned other things associated with them
youtube and google?
Japanese teaching Engrish, i'm soo going to learn it from you.
WOW seriously thank you, I live in China part of the year, I did not know about the hand gestures.
Err... Is this a channel that teaches you or a channel that criticizes the government of China?
It's obviously a channel with Anti-China propaganda by a bunch of kiddies that have no clue of today's mainland China. LOL
very true thank for the important massage,
Next time before you post such kind of videos you should better make sure what you said is true, at least visit China once.
Mate, he's born in Hong Kong...you know, UK colonisation?
Hi, Ben 你有成功入境過中國大陸嗎?
I am yet to get any kind of positive feedback about Zhongguó. Maybe I should really cancel my trip...
Awesome Video!!!!
wo. you did very well. Thanks
If you really want to know china, go to this vedio "China, how is it"- the maker is currently in china and has been there for a while, he knows most how there is
There are many openly practicing Chinese Christian/Catholic people reading and studying about Christianity in China. Don't trust this video.
However, making and believing prejudices and one sided "feel bad" for people that you do not have a clue about is plain arrogance and stupidity.
ahh.....Why is this so hard...let my just paste the chapter of domestic religion policies here第三十六条 中华人民共和国公民有宗教信仰自由。
Number 36
Citizens of the People's Republic of China have freedom of religion.
Jiayou!! Love ur videos!!
Are you guys in a relationship?
Hehe~The most favorite stuff bought by the Chinese tourists when traveling to Taiwan is the national flag badge.
lol
You insulted us!
Thank you very much for your information. My brother & sister, love you & Good luck !!!!
Bible is definitely permitted. Others are rubbish, deserve it.
+Learn Chinese Now What do you call evidence-.-? The leaflets they hand you in Chinatown?
+Andre the Christian Gentleman I have a copy of the New American Bible in my room right now. Does that count?
It seems like in every video you refer to these aspects of China. Isn't that a bit unnecessary?
Strict Rules guys
Thank you, Excellent Educational Videos. : )
Good thing I watched this because I want to go there-
Wow... I was thinking about going to China when I grow up. Now I would just forget about it.
Go to Taiwan instead! It's infinitely nicer there.
guys this may not be 100% accurate but appreciate the commitment. it's probably similar to wearing a hat in the us w the confederate flag on it, won't get you arrested but definitely some looks
This is the equivalent of two people doing a skit in 2003 on how Saddam Hussein has WMD.
Not really, since Saddam never had WMD, but the Chinese communist party really does persecute these groups
And a good day to you, Mr. 50 Cent Brigadier!
What about a Protestant Bible?
I like this channel. Any group that is against the CCP is one score for freedom and justice.
Yeah that's great thank you.
My comment was a bit of a joke. Take what the whole world says with a grain on salt, it is a great kidder.
Haha Homer Simpson slippers, I have a pair of those :D
misleading video. i am a chinese , and china is not terrible like what you said.
A lady who was in our tour bus was taken off by military officers and she never came back on the bus..Forgot I was in a communist country wen i went ova...... beautiful tho... would like to keep goin back..
I came close at the American Embassy in Guangzho. Please forgive my spelling.
most of them are not true ...disappointed ...
"But from the point of the party, it kinda makes sense to ban it."
From the point of view of a psychopathic, heartless, freedom hating, murderous, tyrannical mob to be specific.
Wut. I've been to China before, im sure i must have stretched at some point. are you sure this is right?
dont know why i would wear a Tibet or Taiwan flag.
