    Good Morning, I received the tuner yesterday. I took it out for test drive right away. It works well! It was very easy to set up and start using. I like that I’m able tune my drones accurately. I think your instruction video is full of great advice! Thanks Ross

    I just received mine. Maybe something to consider is the different types of phone cases out there, the receiver plug is a wee short. I ordered an extension so I don't have to remove my case. I'm sure the product performs well. Best!

      Yes, there are some very thick phone cases out there. There are simple, inexpensive extender plugs that will let you use the InTune Mic easily with your case.

    Jori, how much of a difference does the mic make? I have used the Braw tuner for a couple years and find it a great tuning tool using the mic on my iPhone.

    • @bagpipelessons
      @bagpipelessons  ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Hi Richard! I'm glad you like the Braw Tuner. The InTune Mic works perfectly with the app (and any other tuning app). By placing the mic right up to the chanter or drones, you can isolate that one sound which makes tuning much faster and more precise. The InTune Mic makes it super easy to tune all of your drones with your smartphone apps. You can play and march and wander naturally, you don't need to stand right next to your phone. Also, the InTune Mic even works in noisy environments. It will revolutionize the way pipe bands tune, too, since you can tune each player's chanter or drones even while everyone is playing together. Thanks and please let me know if you have more questions! -Jori Chisholm

    I see the mic, on the chanter, unlike the drones, is not at the end of it, but up behind or in front of it - is there a preferred position for the mic on the chanter in relation to the end of it? TIA

    • @bagpipelessons
      @bagpipelessons  9 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      You can clip the InTune Mic anywhere near the bottom of the chanter and it should work just fine. I have found that clipping it near the bottom of the chanter, below the holes, and placing the InTune Mic behind the chanter is a great place to pick up the sound and keep everything clear of your fingers.

    Thanks Jori. You mentioned that you and other excellent players like your high A to be a little flat. Why is that? Thanks!

    • @bagpipelessons
      @bagpipelessons  ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Great question, Erik! A very slight flattening of the High A note gives the note a bit more presence in relationship to the drones. If you do it just right, it won't sound flat, it will sound nice and clear. If you tune the High A to perfectly match the pitch of the A (according to the tuner) it will sound quiet and thin as it disappears in the drones. You can think of it as a type of very slight intentional dissonance to give texture and volume.

    Today got the Intune mic, works fine, when it works.
    I'm having this issue it does not ALWAYS recognize it's an
    external mic. When I connect the receiver the USB logo
    appears but only a few times does the phone say it's using
    an external mic.
    If I restart the phone it will then, for a few times, recognize the mic.
    The phone is a Samsung A02s and the software is up to date.
    Any suggestions?

  • @nobbiestyles
    @nobbiestyles ปีที่แล้ว

    Question: the mic works quite good, but the frequency it gets (using braw tuner) is different from the one supplied by the analogic KORG (always lower). Ex: korg at 454Hz , braw tuner 478Hz (approx). Why this difference? Thank you in advance for the explanation Jori.

    • @bagpipelessons
      @bagpipelessons  ปีที่แล้ว

      The 454 Hz reading on your Korg tuner is for B flat. The equivalent for A would be 481 Hz.

    • @nobbiestyles
      @nobbiestyles ปีที่แล้ว

      @@bagpipelessons thanks Jori. Therefore the frequency given by the braw tuner for the "low A" is the real frequency of the sound with the fingers on the low A position. The frequency of the Korg is the one fixed for the low A and my chanter (shepherd mk3) with the low A fingering is a semitone over the fixed low A in the korg (therefore a B flat). My writing was maybe a bit confusing, but the concept is quite clear to me now. Thanks again!

    **All fixed - Thanks Jori for your help. This such a terrific tool for pipers. Its my new best friend!
    My InTune Mic arrived, what a terrific device for tuning by yourself. But I am having a technical problem, and I think its a setting in my phone. I have an OPPO A74 android phone. When I plug the receiver into my phone, the receivers light doesn't come on and of course wont connect to the mic. If I leave the receiver plugged into my phone and run the charging cable from the receiver to a power source, the receivers' light comes on and it connects to the mic. Therefore the receiver is not getting power/charging from my phone. Has anyone had this problem? I feel like there would be a setting on my phone that I have to change to allow the receiver to connect and charge with my phone. Any ideas??

  • @seansmith1243

    Do you get a truer drone tuning by closing out the drones you are not tuning?

    • @bagpipelessons
      @bagpipelessons  ปีที่แล้ว +4

      The BEST way to get your pipes perfectly in tune is to keep all of the drones going and use your InTune Mic with the tuner. Anytime you turn off a drone, you affect the overall pressure in the bag, which affects the pitch of each drone and the chanter. The InTune Mic lets you place the mic very near the top of the drone which means it only listens to that drone. This allows you to tune it perfectly since all of the other drones are going and you are blowing the true pressure. Great question and let me know if you have more! -Jori Chisholm

  • @Scarred_Piper
    @Scarred_Piper ปีที่แล้ว +1

    i've been using Braw Tuner for quite some time now and it is indeed a very good app, i'm sure the mic will add to that! one question though, there are many preset settings in the app, like GHB standard, Just intonation etc. What is the actual difference between them?

    • @bagpipelessons
      @bagpipelessons  ปีที่แล้ว

      Great question! I think GHB standard is the way to go for most people. It's a big topic and I need to make a video about it. There are just subtle differences in the tuning of some of the notes.

    • @Scarred_Piper
      @Scarred_Piper 11 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@bagpipelessons another quistion, do you think this mic is suitable for recording your playing sessions and get a good sound of it?

  • @thomasmackenzie5295
    @thomasmackenzie5295 ปีที่แล้ว

    Why not just use a contact mic?

    • @bagpipelessons
      @bagpipelessons  ปีที่แล้ว

      Contact mics don't work well for the pipes since they pick up the vibrations from the chanter and all three drones no matter where the mic is clipped. The InTune Mic works well since it it only picks up the sound from the drone or chanter where it's clipped on.
