I understand why some may want or need a mini driver. Myself I have the Callaway mini. I struggle with swing issues with a full size driver (right hard push) yet, having this mini I have found a better swing consistency and control. Yes, I lost yardage (270 carry down to 250 carry) but have found more fairways and less ugly drives since I went this directions. I even struggle hitting 3 wood both off the tee and deck so I figure a carry loss of 20 yards overall and a more playable ball is way better than chasing and hitting a ball from a different fairway or ugly rough is worth it over all.
The adjustability of this mini driver puts it ahead of the others imo, you can tune this to exactly what you want and need for that spot in your bag. Cannot wait to get my hands on it!
@adamw9764. I agree the adjustability looks great. If I could add a wishlist to it, it would be for quick change of front and back weight. Off the tee have heavier weight forward, but be able to quickly flip it to heavier back weight for off the deck to help with higher launch. Picture like a tongue depressor with 5g on one end and 15g on the other, then be able to easily flip its orientation front to back.
IMO ... When you play tight courses in the UK, mini drivers just make sense! If you play long, wide courses. I can understand why someone you would find it pointless
Nice. Yeah everyone thinks the mini driver is a driver replacement, and for some it is. For most though, it is a 3 wood replacement. I for one back off driver a bit, and 3 wood is a go to off the tee. Mini driver suites this need quite well.
I have an upright swing (think Jack, Payne, or both misters Watson ). the mini driver is perfect for those of us who swing down the line. We then have one swing from the driver to the PW. Accuracy is king for me. I play better from the short grass. Jack played a 43in driver and he made out just fine.
MSG...you need to try the PXG 7-w. I have same swing speed as you 103-105. I put the PXG 7w in my bag this Fall and it carries great and lands soft and super easy to hit!
I can’t wait until the day my channel gets to this point. Then Chase and I will really be able to make some cool content. Back to the grind. Love the video.
As a PXG fan and golf enthusiast, I just don’t feel the need to have their Desert Club or Secret Weapon in the bag. I’m PXG from the putter up to driver. Ditched the 3 wood and go with PXG driver 10deg, PXG 4-wood, PXG 4 hybrid, PXG 0211 irons (6-GW), 2 Edel wedges (52 & 56) and PXG mallet putter. Instead of wasting (IMO) money on the new niche PXG clubs I use an older Titleist 12.5 deg driver for the “mini” and an older Callaway Steelhead XR PW as my “Desert Club” and they work great! Honestly, I just can’t justify spending money on the niche clubs; that money could be spent on 4-6 rounds of golf or 3-5 lessons.
I would be curious to see club delivery conditions, I was not impressed with mini driver because I was trying to use it like a driver, when I teed it lower and felt like swinging down (probably neutral or +1) a mini really comes alive off the tee. I agree as a second shot from the fairway is a tough sell, so having 4w or long hybrid may work better.
It depends on the course. I value getting a precision tee shot 2 wood distance without having to compromising on distance (I’m pretty average swing speed 100mph driver). I wouldn’t swap it for an extra wedge.
Does PXG made a 4W in that line? If you treat the Secret Weapon like a 2W, you could get better gapping with a 4W. I also wonder if you played around to see if that Mini driver was set up right for you; with 4 weight ports and an adjustable hosel, there's a lot you can tweak to get the launch and flight characteristics you want.
You look too young to have ever had a 2 wood in your bag. Years ago many wood sets came with 1, 2, 3, and 4 woods. Back then, the decision you made when you came to a course was whether to put a driver or a two wood in your bag based on course layout and weather conditions. PXG might do well to market this club as a two wood.
Truth is most of us have no business playing a 3w. It’s really not more accurate off the tee for the vast amount of amateurs. Also for the high handicappers, if they have a 3w distance to the green in a par 5 they’re probably not getting there anyways I’ve been driver, mini, 5w for the last 4 years and will never go back
Why did you change from track man to ForeSight? 2nd time to ask. No decals? Long long time follower I have been using a 14 degree as a mini driver for years, has a 3 wood shaft.
for slower swing speeds where they can't hit a driver anyways, would this be an option? Also would save these people on low incomes to save some money on new technology.
Tried the Callaway AI mini. Hits well , I don’t carry a 3 wood have a 4 wood 16o The 4 wood is my secret weapon. Don’t have a place in my bag so the AI Mini has to go.
Bunt drivers are sick if it’s not wet out, and nothing to carry over. It’ll also show you what you need to work on. It should be easier to hit something straight at 3/4 speed. If you don’t find that to be the case, you’re technique is off.
What do you do with all those clubs that are being sent to you by these companies after you have tested them? Do some of them make it into your set or do you raffle them off to your subscribers.? 😂
I am intrigued with this and will, in the near term, go to my PXG store (maybe we can meet up for lunch! LOL) to test it out. My thought is to replace the Driver and 3-Wood with the Secret Weapon and add another Hybrid.

If possible, I think it’s time for a mini-driver comparison video. PXG vs Callaway vs Taylormade. ⛳️
great idea
Maybe also wait for the titleist to come out and do four way
Wait for Titleist!
It's a 2 wood. They were common up until about 1985 or so when metal woods started taking over. What is old is new again.
love me my warrior 2 wood to this day

I'm an upright swinger too but I wonder about the adjustability of this driver since you can only flatten the lie.

Pxg 7 wood is very good.

You got rid of the Trackman and went over to Quad?
Titleist is coming out with one too!
I ordered one today! Great demo! Still want one of those SG hats! (those are my initials)...
might be dumb to ask, but is a 3 wood dead? Other big brands have mini drivers and they are just beefy 3 woods that go further and are more forgiving

Bloody hell MSG, hitting some sweet shots. Swing looking mint
The only question should be what you use your 3 wood , tee club or fairway, if it's a tee club mini driver makes sense
It depends on the course. I value getting a precision tee shot 2 wood distance without having to compromising on distance (I’m pretty average swing speed 100mph driver). I wouldn’t swap it for an extra wedge.
Top of my bag: Driver, mini driver, 4 wood, 7 wood

I think this might be just what I'm looking for, may need to add it to my next purchase list.
Hi great video, we all want more consistency and this really makes good sense, haven't seen this for sale in the Uk is it going to be ? thanks John

I really liked the video where you played the 3 worst golf courses in America. I play castle creek all the time for the challenge
Has this guy officially come out as a PXG sponsor?

100%
May have to take a look
$450 they bumped their damn head.

Long long time follower
I have been using a 14 degree as a mini driver for years, has a 3 wood shaft.
He said it is more accurate indoors.
I have a PXG 7 wood that goes 205-215 and is the easiest most accurate club I have.
Looks beautiful, works great, why not? 👍
Good review
Nothing Mini about it. Still over-size if you played golf in the 90's.

And don’t forget Titleist
If you can not hit your driver or your 3 wood then this mini will not save you!

Because I hit my 3 wood better than my driver.
lets see them in bag

Legit
just not worth 449.00 none of them are.... I got the TM used for 329.00 then its a 3 wood price..... not gonna carry 3 wood
