while i was being tortured in an Amerikkkan jail last year (for such fictional crimes as "insults which could cause a fight"!), i wrote a script that is just a 2-hour Dinner Date (FIRST date) tween Aubrey and.....SUPERMAN (because they're polar opposites) and it was a blast writing in her voice, all the crazy questions she'd ask him! (Supes is super-EARNEST and naive.)
I always wanted to script a FAKE Late Nite Talk Show with the gimmick that ALL THE DRINKS BACKSTAGE ARE SPIKED with "Truth Serum"....so all these big stars SAY HORRIBLE HORRIBLE SHIT once on camera, but they are roofied etc and don't realize it!
Now that you posted your comment, I think AUBREY should be the host of that talk show! Getting every A-list star to say SHOCKINGLY "honest" things, like insulting their directors or films they were in or claiming they had sex with all these other celebs, etc!
I'll have to go back to WRITERS, er, Rikers Island to finish that one while they cook me three hot meals a day and do my laundry for me!
No need. Every talk show she attends automatically become The Aubrey Show with special guest Whoever the Actual Host Is.

Have her host the Oscars with an actor who's mega-hot, but does understand her jokes - and watch him pretend to understand them. Then she can make jokes that are over his head - but about him without him knowing they're about him... Everyone would be in on the joke except him. I love laughing the most when I'm getting away with something - like you have to hide it...

I think they didn’t have the audience Mics turned of when the band was playing, they laughed a lot more once she wasn’t singing. The reason the streamies seemed so awkward in past years was that TH-cam didn’t have the budget for audience mics, so they couldn’t hear the crowd laughter.
It seemed like they were laughing to me.

Which jokes went over their heads?
I think 80% of why Audrey is so funny is because she is willing to let other people sink into the awkwardness about the zanny, dark thing shes just said. She will just stay silent and let a person/crowd descend into an awkward uncomfortable silence and give no reaction/ try to talk her way out of it. As someone who has her same sence of humor i find her hilarious and all of her jokes "hit"/make me laugh/i just get them. I would make these exact jokes but when I see peoples reactions will try to talk my way out of it. I need to be more like this Queen.

I think people cheered at the first part then realized that there was the second part but didn't know how to react at that point. I mean should I have booed or laugh or cheer even harder for the terrible state of the industry? I didn't know and I just went oops and that's how I reacted at least.
It's because she made the same joke last yr. It's hard to laugh at the same joke twice. Can't blame the audience
why are all the comments about how confused the audience was.... you can literally hear the crowd laughing the entire way through - they're not on a mic so its gonna sound disproportionately quieter. based on the comments i was expecting this to be super awkward but the crowd was with her the entire time and she killed it.

I know, right? I think a lot of Aubrey Plaza fans are invested in the idea that she's awkward and her humor goes over people's heads, but this clearly shows that she's a great performer who has a lot of respect in the industry.
People are dumb and just cannot get their heads around the fact that an unmic'd crowd is not going to be as loud on a taping as if you had been there in person. You can find the same stupid comments a la "This audience sucks" or "This audience didn't deserve [insert artist]" under almost every live performance of any band, too.
They get it. They just want to play a little "I'm not like other fans" game.

In an interview with Conan, she actually talks about the only thing she didnt really wanted to do for a role was a musical number bc she is not really good at it but she did it anyway.So i think her comment about her comfort zone at the beginning was about that. She is doing something thats out of her comfort zone while singing and dancing.

I don't think jazzy songs suit her. However, her voice surprisingly sounded good on Parks and Recreation when she once sang "The Pit." Rock songs might be a better fit if Plaza had to sing again.
Wow, there are so many TH-cam videos with titles like, "Aubrey Plaza is an awkward talk show guest for 20 minutes straight." So I had no idea she was such a confident, multitalented, and charismatic all-around performer. She's terrific! Hollywood needs to find more ways to showcase, and make use of her abilities.
