  • In addition to "Penthesilea" (Kleist) and "Das Leben ein Traum" (Life is a Dream, after Calderón), "Der Traum ein Leben" is the third overture by Draeseke with reference to a stage work.
    Grillparzer's fairy tale drama forms the counterpart to Calderon's drama and was often performed in Dresden, which certainly inspired Draeseke to compose again. Completed in 1904, premiered in 1905. This is a digital audio rendition of the score.
