honestly speaking, meerkats are difficult pets to have. it would even be better if people don’t keep them as pets. they really need to stay with other meerkats:( since these little guys are very social animal.
edit: if it’s a rescue animal or can’t intergrate with other meerkats then maybe it’s fine for it to stay with the humans and be taken care of. anyway, hoping for the best life for this little guy.

맞습니다. 야생동물을 애완으로 기르는 것은 동물복지 차원에서도 문제가 될 수 있고, 이 중에는 개인 사육이 금지되거나 동물 성격상 집에서 기르기 부적합한 것도 있지만 희귀동물 사육 가이드라인도 없는 상태입니다. 환경부와 농림축산식품부 유기 야생동물 현황에 따르면 유기 건수 해마다 증가합니다. 유기 야생동물은 동물보호센터 등에서 일정기간 머물다 안락사 되구요.
맞아요. 그래서 저는 저 말곤 안 키웁니다. (나도 소홀히 하기도 하고) 그리고 동물보호센터라도 환경이 좋았으면 좋았을려만.

미어캣엄청 좋아함. 정말좋아해서 키우고싶어서 유튜브랑 미어캣에대해알아봄.결론은 안키우기로결정함.키우려거든 무리생활하는 미어캣을 한마리만 키우다니.... 기온에도민감하고..할말많은데이만하겠음. 동물을사랑하는마음알겠는데 키우고싶다고 막 키우는건지양해야함. 큰동물병원도근처에있어야하고 한국에서 미어캣은 아직 반려동물하기엔 기온도 안맞음.

I mean maybe if he was offered stimulation and exercise, like a huge pit to dig in all day, and at least another meerkat friend, he might be more relaxed and more agreeable. Regardless he's still a meerkat, a tiny but super brave animal, so I doubt there's much controlling him.... I feel bad for him though.

My question is how this meerkat happened to be in Korea? There must an exotic animal trade there.
@@whatevergoesforme5129 my thoughts exactly. Meerkats are native to Africa. They absolutely shouldn't be kept as pets. They're also strictly insect eaters too. Their favorite is scorpions. On very rare occasions they'll eat meat but I've only seen that in hormonal pregnant females.
I don't want a meerkat but if I did my research on it to know stuff about it and spent my money on it than heck no I won't release it if I really wanted it.
How come humans always think that for example the meerkat need other meerkats cause they are social animals. I think you are forgetting all the other pets arround there. In my opinion the meerkat seems to like it there. His goal clearly is not to run away.
@@w.t.h.2040 meerkats are normally social animals with their own and are not suited for domestication. look up what happens to meerkat pets. they eventual go crazy and chew off their limbs and tail. that meerkat is always restless and wanting to get out of their house for a reason. it is cruel to keep a wild animal indoors. i work in eco tourism in south africa so i can tell you with absolute sincerity that meerkat should not be living as a pet. these people are cruel.

동물을 사랑하는 사람으로써 객관적으로 보자면 주인분들이 천사인건 맞는데 정말 무식임 ! 여러개체 애들을 키우면서 각자의 숨숨집도 각자의 개성 취향 전혀 고려하지 않고 무작정 기르는것 ! 애들 마다의 전문 지식이 전혀 없다 ! 사랑만 주면 다인가? 책임감 있게 끝까지 반려인 되려면 어느정도 지식이 동반되고 공부 해야한다 .

Well, meerkats just like to sunbath... They're not meditating or anything😅 They should let him come out more during the day because the the screen door sunlight is not enough.
Lol they do like to sunbathe but I wonder if he thinks his role is sentry, the one who watches out for danger, they usually have one in the wild so others can forage food and not be surprised by a predator

Yes. But i think it's better for meerkats to stay in their colony in the wild after all. They can fite cobras easier that way. And build underground nest.
For those who are wondering, this couple has a youtube channel named 'Timon and pumbaa'. You can find their videos when they first have the meerkat(they received her when she was 2 months old).
I cannot find the information of how the meerkat end up in Korea but rest assured, the meerkat is in good hands. Though, they might not know well enough about meerkats natural behavior, they are trying their best to provide the best for her and she is still in great health till now.
They work as pet groomer and their family own an animal shelter for dogs, cats, rabbits, goose, etc. They protect animal lives and tried to protect the strays from getting killed by crazy people that tried to feed poison to the strays.

본 프로그램 취지는 동물들이 살아가는 다양한 모습들을 영상에 담아내서 재미를 주거나 혹은 사회적으로 이슈가 되는 동물문제를 다뤄서 시청자들에게 경각심을 일깨워주는 건데, 시대가 변한만큼 프로그램 구성을 바꾸거나 그게 힘들다면 폐지해야 할 듯. 만약 구성을 바꾼다면 동물문제(중성화, 투견장, 유기견/묘 등)를 주로 다루거나 내셔널지오그래픽처럼 다큐 형식으로 하는 게 좋을듯.
