    Good job multipurpose of a button. It look like it came from the manufacturer and so realistic looking. Thinking out side the box is alway fun. I am sure alot of other model owners will follow your example. The Connie is coming along really good👌. Looking forward to the marker lights and how you run the wires. Be safe and see you on Sunday.👍🚂🚂🚂🚂🚂

      Thanks!!!! So very close on the Conies. Lettered one side of Mexicano 14! And it looks ok. So I can breathe again. Now the other side. And some weather. And the brake handle. (Saving that for last. Sort of like a golden spike).

    I'm glad that you mention Jason Jenson every now and then, Jason is a commercial artist, by trade, but is also a modeling artist. His medium is HO scale structures and scenery. His methods and yours a quite similar at times. The difference is scale. Because you have chosen F scale the detail level is much higher. I can't wait to see the finished locos.
    Others suggest added details, so here goes a few. the operators personal tool boxes ( I have my great uncles "engineers" tool box, it's over 100 years old, square shaped 10 x 10 x 18. shovels and pokers, a bucket, oiler, and so on.
    When you add those kinds of details, it makes the model come alive, and with F scale, it will be over the top. John Allen, Jason Jenson and others liked to add little things that were almost hidden. Then you look, in the alley, and find a trash can with a cat digging for a snack. Now that's detail.
    Really great video. ;-)

    I think you have got this episode buttoned up.
    In use, the sand dome lid would scratch and chip the paint of the dome, probably no matter how careful the crews would (not) be.
    When I sanding Baldwin designed narrow gauge engines, the dome covers would just be lifted off and placed on top of the boiler. There was a lip so rainwater would not go in the dome when the lid was fitted. The handle was almost cast into the top of the lid, so there was an indentation, and the round handle was flat with the top of the lid. You could only see the handle if you were looking down on the lid.

    The sand dome and hatch look great, but a small detail may have been missed. A raised rim or neck around the fill hole to help keep rain water out of dome and a lip around the outside of the hatch for the same reason.
    I know just me seeing details that would be logical on the real machine.

    Generally, the marker lights on a loco are called "class" (classification) lights. They should be able to show green for extra sections of a train on the timetable or white for an extra train that is not on the timetable. Marker lights showing red to the rear are to be installed on the rear corners of the tender for locos running on orders without cars.

    • @ToyManTelevision
      @ToyManTelevision  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I have an idea for removable class lights. On hidden plugs. Would make it possible to use them properly.

    • @scottfw7169
      @scottfw7169 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      A thing I did with class/marker lamps on several of my Big Hauler 4-6-0s was make those lamps battery powered so if track power was lost while running at night (on Mike's layout, my upper floor apartment has no garden) you would easily know where the train is.
      Two also have the headlight battery powered. All use a 9v battery stuffed in where smoke unit used to be; switchplate was cut out of smokebox front for access through smokebox door.

      @ToyManTelevision  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Do you know the funny thing about that, yes it’s actually funny but in a sad sort of way, as I bought the rights to the music years and years ago for $50. It’s called royalty arrives. But every time we use it some bot from some music rights company claims that they own it and that they want the money from the video. Then we have to dispute their claim and show that no, we actually bought it years and years ago. And they always back down because they don’t have a leg to stand on. But it’s just sort of weird.

    Conny's are looking good. One question, to be SN #34 the sand dome is in the wrong place, it should be where the bell is and the bell should be where the sand dome is, also, what about the box style headlight?

    • @ToyManTelevision
      @ToyManTelevision  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Well we are cheating. As the Baker valve gear is wrong we are just freelancing. Sort of the 34. I thought about changing the headlight. But we figured as so much is wrong just go with fun.

      Well we drive south to the Colorado plateau. To the coral pink dunes. Now that’s no good cause it’s pink. But near by in a double super secret spot is a white sand. So fine you can’t pick it up. So you need one of those beach sand shovels and bucket. Get the one with the castle and octopus on it. Ok just kidding….. or am I?
