The young lady lead character is such a beautiful woman and has every right and reason to feel proud of herself. Her parents ought to feel ashamed of themselves for not protecting their child at every age.
I literally gave out a 'Whoop' at the Golden Finale !! A while back my oldest friend had the misfortune to accidentally bump into a particularly unsavoury school yard nemesis with his wife..... my buddy immediately rebuffed this chaps greeting of 'Hello Mate', with something along the lines of 'I'm not your mate and never was, all you did was bully me and others' The bullies wife was horrified at my friends interaction, but from the point that her husband had been so horrible in the past.......my friend walked away leaving them shocked.... to this day it's a great story we get him to retell at gatherings........I'd like to think his tormentor is still dripping wet and smelling of stagnant golden water :)
