It might be dehydrated. Drink lots of water, eat fruits and vegetables, cut down on salty foods, caffeine, alcohol and nicotine (if you smoke). Don't over exfoliate, avoid alcohol and harsh ingredients like sulfates in your skincare products, use a gel moisturizer during the day and a nighttime moisturizer with hyaluronic acid (or pure hyaluronic acid). Derma E is a really good brand and it's what I use. Also an organic oil like hemp seed oil can help. I know you might be like "Nooo I don't want to put oils on my face!" but it won't make you oily lol. Some people don't get that if you spend all day try to get rid of your natural oils you have to replenish your skin at night. Otherwise your skin is going to go crazy and produce more oils to compensate.
Kimberly X My skin has changed but when it was oily I would use a moisturizing primer and then a matte foundation to help balance it and it worked well.
I noticed when I use primer very sparingly, and just in the oiliest areas, it works better. I used to slather it on, and my face turned in to a slip and slide. Seriously. You could slip and slide down my face.
Laura!! Neutrogena makes an oil free suncreen, SPF 30, specifically for face!! The focus is not to make you breakout and I LOVE it. After it sinks into my skin I can't feel it's there at all. You don't have to accept a greasy day in order to protect your skin!!
Everyone is talking about how she says "ole" instead of oil but is no one gonna talk about how in the beginning of the video she said howing instead of how
ideenfee very correct I mean they look so different without it it's insane. It cost $150 it's an app. Wayne goss shows the effects of it he goes from looking 40 years old and tired 😴 to 29 and flawless. This technology is disgusting.
I have this exact problem :( It's too dry in winter, and too oily in summer. But I think cos I've been moving around in different countries a few times for the past 10 yrs, its really affected my skin. That really breaks out a lot :( and can't get used to the weather until a year has gone.
Means your skin is Combination, which is the most common type. It means there are random patched etc or changes. You have to change it up to accommodate the climate change. So you might need to do a different routine in winter than you do in summer. Of course no matter what always drink lots of water (in dryer months up your intake), get adequate sleep, always wear SPF, and most of all don't drink alcohol or smoke! Literally those are the trades to flawless beautiful skin, I always tell People if you don't do anything else do that! =)
I'm so confused on my skin type! My skin is super dry after washing my face but then it gets super greasy throughout the day. So I'm guessing I'm a combination type?
Try different things and see if it works out. Philoderm makes face wash for oily and dry skin using PH and Earth Science Naturals uses the same idea. Time of the year, hormones, and climate make a difference. Moved away from a cold and dry environment (face was oily) to a cool humid climate (face was dry) then back after 5yrs to cold/dry to find makeup regime had to go back for oily skin again x_x Gah! (Artificial heat is bad as much as artificial cooling)
Aliya Charles some oils are good for your face if you use them right -_- do research Argan-oil, jojoba oil, vitamin E oil, and grape seed oil are all great. Some are not even oils it’s hard to explain just research and welcome the worlds natural moisturizers that work
Totally agree with Rachael. I went to the dermatologist and told them the problems i had like urs. They said the face wash that dries out ur skin if u have oily skin will actually trigger something in ur skin that makes u produce even more oils since ur taking those oils out from the face wash. I use the cetaphil face wash for gentle skin and it doesn't dry out my skin but cleanses the excess oils in my face while leaving the good oils (: it works wonders. Also if u have acne and are using a cream that dries out ur acne then that also a factor to excess oil. Anyways. Just some tips from a girl with oily skin
I LOVE Laura Lee, but I thought I'd mention 3 things that work for me. 1) using oil on oily skin is great. Oil dissolves oil (the like dissolves like theory) and also it keeps your skin from thinking it needs to produce more. I have oily skin and do not use skin care labeled for oily skin. 2) Sunscreen is needed every day!!!! It's the everyday rays (that DO penetrate your car/home windows) that cause the dreaded aging of skin not to mention cancer. Even if you're not noticing the effects now, believe me when you're my age you will. 3) I do not use primers for oily skin. Things that prevent oil usually do the opposite because your skin thinks it needs to produce oil because you are robbing it of moisture. I saw several comments mentioning those primers make things worse and that's why. My favorite is the It Cosmetics Bye Bye Pores primer. Second would be the Hourglass Mineral Veil. I do realize products work different for people, but I thought I'd throw it out there. I spent many years in the cosmetic/skin care industry. Wayne Goss and Angie from Hot & Flashy have great sunscreen videos if anyone is interested.
Thank you for this! I have been having a hell of a time trying to get foundation to look smooth on my skin, I'll have to take all of this in to consideration!
Just tried all these tips today for school and I noticed such a huge difference! My face looked sooo much better by the time I got home. Thanks a bunch!
I'm so happy you made this video. I used these tips last night and my face looked less oily than it usually does! I did have to blot twice but overall I was very happy! I switched to gel moisturizer and my skin has never been so happy with a moisturizer lol. And I'm learning that less is definitely more.
Hydro boost by neutrogena is a wonderful drug store gel cream! It's $25 Canadian, still a little pricey but a lot cheaper than the ones at sephora and it works beautifully. Also you can get a pack of two at Costco for a lot cheaper!
I love Clinique's gel moisturizer, Dramatically Different. I HATED the lotion version of it, but the gel is really good stuff. Sinks in quick, feels hydrating, some days I don't even use primer, because it's a bit primer like, but not slick and greasy. I get the 4.2 ounce bottle, and it lasts forever and is only $26. I think my last bottle lasted close to a year.
Klaudia M The wonders of blurring filters and studio lighting. NO ONE has truly flawless skin... everyone has some sort of imperfections as adults - pores, acne, scars, texture, dry patches, redness, hyper pigmentation. EVERYONE, even Laura.
I know she has the whole package of amplifiers but it's no secret that her skin is actually in a phenomenal state. See her snapchats. I haven't seen her have a single pimple for as long as I've been subscribed.
My skin is super oily i also moved from the midwest to Arizona...took notes and hoping this helps! New subscriber of LauraLee. Loving the vids so far and appreciate the focus on affordable alternatives as well.
I'm glad she still looks the same. No fillers or injections. She's one of the few TH-camrs who hasn't gone nuts with injections. She's a natural beauty.
i use it too!!! its literally life changing for my oily skin, its called cetaphil oil control moisturizer-acne prone skin my dermatologist recommended it to me
Amanda Howard Exactly! If your skin is oily and you don't use a moisturizer/ hydrate it, it'll only make it worse! Your body will compensate for the lack of hydration by producing even MORE oil!
Amanda Howard Yea I finally found out I have severe dehydrated skin but super oily 😒 I cant figure out what products to use. I cant bake because I have tons of texture! Wtf is wrong with me 😕
Truly Yours I am exactly the same, very oily but very dehydrated- especially on my cheeks. After a lot of trial and error I think I'm finally balancing out. Marula oil has helped my skin and NYX hydratouch primer is good for those dry textured places.
I have combination, occasionally dry skin, oily has not been a problem for me yet this far in life, but I still have to watch this video because Laura is life.
When the notification for this video popped up I got super fucking excited because oil was in the title and I know you're going to be saying oil million times and I love the way you say oil and I cannot wait to watch this video 😂😂😂
Also Clinique Moisture Surge is the BEST moisturzer of all time I have incredibly dry skin and it saves me during the winter. I'm in college and I still buy it every year - it's worth it.
all first aid beauty products from sephora, not sure if ulta has it I'm in Canada and that's the only store that sells it. I just had training on it and I was blown away (I work at sephora)
Angie M what mattifying primer do you recommend . I have samples of the becca one , dr brant, and I used the MUFE step 1 but I see my foundation cling and look darker wherever it's applied :(
AshleyrCoello for some reason I read our comment totally wrong and thought all the primers you listed didn't work for your skin😂 but yeah I really like the becca one because it's mattifying and it literally is poreless. It reminds me of the benefit porefessional but not powdery and better at concealing pores !
AshleyrCoello I've actually been using th sample of the MUFE step 1 primer and so far it's okay. I used a pea-sized amount just on my tzone and I don't have that foundation clinging problem 😧 i also use the benefit porefessional matte rescue primer. Nyx angel veil when I'm not really wanting to stay matte for a long time.
Brenda M you definitely have to use a good primer and a good setting spray. I personally haven't found a great drugstore primer, but a good drugstore setting spray is the Maybelline Master Fix. Hope this helps!😁
I literally just started watching this video, I'm 45 seconds in, and I already love her. I was raised in the south as well, although I don't say oil like that, and I love her accent. She's super pretty too! (New subscriber here!!)
Omg!!! You are my lifesaver, I feel like you are the 1st makeup artist that has showed how to apply makeup on my oily skin! 🙌🏻😭 ily bby girl thanks for the tips💕
ugh. no matter what i do, i still get oily as a bacon strip. my face skin is soooo bumpy... well. i'm poor... that;s that, can't buy anything that could help. i have maybelline fit me mat poreless, my sister got me on xmas, but it's too dark for me ;//// *cryingoil*
I have the Fit Me and I don't like it... I actually found that it looks better once the oil starts coming through a little bit, after about 4-5 hours of wear.
skin care is the first thing to combating oily skin! no makeup product will help. cleanse regularly, exfoliate regularly (to unclog pores, which will stop trapping all the oil in there that leads to those bumps), and use a great moisturizer. heck even use oil to moisturize!
Lily Sanchez I use a foundation for normal to dry skin and then use translucent powder to set and setting spray and that works best for me because I have dry skin at first then get oily.
Omg! I'm so glad I watched this. It's so informative. I learned so much. I had no idea I shouldn't be using a cream moisturizer for my oily skin! I'll defintely be trying out these techniques! You're so awesome!
This helped sooo much! By watching this video I literally realised I'm doing everything wrong!!! My skin is soo oily mainly my nose, I use a wet beauty blender to blend foundation, I use a cream moisturiser that has oil in it, I do clean my brushes just not as often as I should, so I'm changing it all thanks to you🙏🏼 Life saver🙌🏽❤
Laura if you read this, have you ever tried Tarte's Amazonian clay 12-hour full coverage foundation? Literally breaks apart on my skin as I apply it... so frustrating!
that happened to me too!!! it patched up on me almost like it was too dry, i tried using a hydrating primer under (hangover RX) then used a damp sponge and it made it alittle better
really really helped me , i needed help with distinguishing the foundation and the primer and all , and the order . You also helped me for a natural oil free look , tysm !
Miranda therapy honestly most of them have combination. Meaning it's dry in some areas oily in others, though some might sway to one or the other side. Combination is also 50% of the population. It's the most common skin type. Oily is the best to have, it ages slower, since the oils create a barrier of protection and lubrication. It's a common misconception that just because your skin is oily you'll break out. Dry skin does too, as the dead cells clog the follicles creating infection because there is no drainage. You have 4 Main skin types Combination, Oily, Dry, and Normal(technically once you hit puberty normal skin doesn't actually exists, only in babies and kids, this means your pH is perfectly balanced at a 7.5 which is the pH of most pure water, its not too alkaline(or base) its not too acidic it's just right to to speak) typically if you're drier you're more alkaline, if youre oily you're more acidic. So combination means it varies. So of course through diet and proper skin care you can bring yourself up to or around a 6 or down to and 8 but no adult is ever a perfect 7. Nextly, you have skin subtypes, these are usually other factors that may or may not be correlated with your skin type. These are typically Acne prone (which is also a skin condition), Sensitive or Aged. These are usually caused by environment factors, that add complications into the mix of things, but are treatable and can even be solved through treatments and diet. Then lastly you have actual conditions some are treatable some aren't. Which can be caused by various factors, genetics, hormones, environmental, etc. These are things like your Rosacea, Psoriasis, Telangiectasia, Tinea, the list goes on. Whatever it is there's ways to treat and manage it! The best option is to see an Aesthetician and a dermatologist to find what works best for you, then it's soo much easier to find EXACTLY what you want/need.
I am SUPER oily and I do live in a very hot climate (Texas) I began using the Becca primer and I definitely saw A HUGE difference as I used the Estee Lauder Double Wear foundation as well and yes although I wouldn't get as oily I still did UNTIL I did the loose powder all over my face (after primer and foundation) and dipped my face in Cold war and patted my face dry... it definitely works
Possibly my all time favorite video of yours! Your skin looks absolutely flawless dayum! I would love to see a sort of summery (grease central) central with lighter products. All my favorite gurus are full coverage :'( I'm all about those je ne sais quoi, oh yeahh I definitely just wake up like this vibess (ie. eyelash curler, perfecting your base, bb/tinted moisturizers, etc). And let's face it. Ya'll are gorgeous so cater to those of us trying to become french ;p XOXO ps. GIRLLL It is now summer and it is NOT a game.
Will you do a video on color correcting please? Sometimes in the summer my face gets red with sunburn, and I would like to learn to be better with it. Thanks Laura! Love you 😘 you look beautiful
OMG this is my first time looking at one of your videos!! I've got to say hands down one of the best TH-cam personalities I've seen in a while. you had me laughing the whole time
I use the Clinique foundation everyday and it starts out matte and I will get shiney relatively quickly. but I also don't do all these steps before and if you just powder it's manageable in my opinion and the affect foundation gives I love it!
I don't usually comment but I love watching your videos. I watched your video about dupes and I went and bought the maybelline fit me matte and poreless and omg thank you so much it is amazing. and thank you for all the easy tips for makeup without anyone feeling like they need to be a makeup artist to have fab makeup. keep the great videos going and keep being you. joined your snap chat family. sending love from Ireland:)
Ofe Lopez The Artis palm brush she has generally retails at £66, don't know what that transfers to in dollars. Some dupes, unbranded items, do turn out equal results if you can find a trusted and highly recommended one. Just search Artis Palm Brush and different sites and prices will direct you to the best offer
Wait...do you have oily skin or not? I would rather get advice from someone who has oily skin all year round and has actually tested different techniques and products. Some of the products you used actually make me more oily. 😑
I should be studying for my board exam, BUTTTTTTT I have been having this issue with foundation lately due to the Florida heat and this video was so beneficial. Thank you. ❤️
I love Laura's accent. I was born in Venezuela and in Latin American but I moved to Texas when I was a baby. I grew up in the south and her accent is so beautiful.

What I don’t understand is my nose gets dry and peels but it’s oily as heck at the same exact time. Wtf is wrong with my face
Same!!!!!
Hey baby loves
Hey Laura
Hi Laura 💕
hey girly pop
Laura Lee baby girl what mascara are you wearing?
hiiii laura!
does anyone else get twice as oily when you use an oil control primer!?!?
Carrot Bread sometimes if you try becoming so matte your skin tries to produce more oils because it feels so dried out.
Yeah! Some times you are best to go for moisturisers and dewy foundations to balance your skin out!
Kimberly X My skin has changed but when it was oily I would use a moisturizing primer and then a matte foundation to help balance it and it worked well.
Julian Jackson Thats a good shout! Might give that a bash myself. Oily skin is the bane of my life hahaha!
I noticed when I use primer very sparingly, and just in the oiliest areas, it works better. I used to slather it on, and my face turned in to a slip and slide. Seriously. You could slip and slide down my face.

Carey C so what your telling me is to stay away from any face primers that are mattifying or anything that has to do with controlling your oils
Thank you for this! I have been having a hell of a time trying to get foundation to look smooth on my skin, I'll have to take all of this in to consideration!
Carey Coconut oil, aloe and apple cider vinegar took away my bumpy red skin and oily foundation. C: I love my grocery store haha

i use it too!!! its literally life changing for my oily skin, its called cetaphil oil control moisturizer-acne prone skin my dermatologist recommended it to me
Water and oil don't mix... a damp beauty blender won't make you oily. And oily skin can still be dehydrated. Hydrated skin produces less oil.

RAIN DROP,
DROP TOP
LAURA'S SO CUTE
PLEASE DON'T STOP STOP 😭😭😍😍😍
Love you !!
Abby Nicole headass
jonae katchadourian you know it!!!
tht was so cute tyfs
Omg throw back
Is it just me or does the maybeline fit me matte + poreless doesn't help much with oily skin :(
Brenda M I have to use a good primer with it. Loreal pro matte works best for me.
Brenda M you definitely have to use a good primer and a good setting spray. I personally haven't found a great drugstore primer, but a good drugstore setting spray is the Maybelline Master Fix. Hope this helps!😁
Brenda M the infallible foundations by L'Oréal is a great foundation for oily skin
Brenda M use Milani primer and setting spray. Works like magic ❤️❤️🦋👑
It didn't stay on very well for me either.
Gia Collins go on nikkia joy channels she has many videos on oily skin. That might help you :)
Jennifer Vega thank you :)
Hey girl use almond oil on your skin! It's amazing & helps with oil & bumps! It's affordable too.
MAKEUP ROOM TOUR!!!!! Pleasssee
Sorry if u did it in the past I'm kinda new to ur channel
What if you have combination skin? I get dry patches after baking and oily skin after a couple of hours.
Lily Sanchez I use a foundation for normal to dry skin and then use translucent powder to set and setting spray and that works best for me because I have dry skin at first then get oily.
Julian Jackson thank you so much!
Lily Sanchez I find that if I look 'dry' after baking , using a setting spray helps it look less dry and hydrated . Just a tip :)
AshleyrCoello Thank you! ☺️
this happens to me too and it got patchy after baking try the RCMA no color powder its good for dry skin when baking and is affordable
My skin type is very dry but I watched this anyway because I love you Laura and I can't skip one video to watch that you post 😂😂
Inside and out Beauty
mine too! I suppose that we would be under combination skin lol.
I have skin drYer than the Sahara desert but I love Lauras videos haha
PiinkFashiion p lol same 😌
love it :)))))
Laura if you read this, have you ever tried Tarte's Amazonian clay 12-hour full coverage foundation? Literally breaks apart on my skin as I apply it... so frustrating!
TabithaAdamMUA I have problems with that one too!! It never completely dries down on me for some reason
mady isnt here same here! For a while I hated Shape tape because I thought it was the problem until I realized it was the foundation. Come on tarte!!
TabithaAdamMUA I have it too and it does the same for me! That and the too faced born this way just don't work at all for me.
that happened to me too!!! it patched up on me almost like it was too dry, i tried using a hydrating primer under (hangover RX) then used a damp sponge and it made it alittle better
I really like that foundation but it's sooo thick
Laura is so funny and adorable. She's always making me laugh! Most definitely my favorite makeup guru on TH-cam. I always take her advice on makeup!
really really helped me , i needed help with distinguishing the foundation and the primer and all , and the order . You also helped me for a natural oil free look , tysm !
I have dry skin flaky skin around my nose. 😿 love watching your videos to learn new stuff.
Jennifer Davila
thank you! like every youtuber has dry skin! I get so frustrated
mirandatherapy lol I feel like every youtuber has oily skin😂
The best option is to see an Aesthetician and a dermatologist to find what works best for you, then it's soo much easier to find EXACTLY what you want/need.
her natural skin is so beautiful
I'm already loving this video 30 seconds in because I love how she says "oil" !! xxx
Slay
She's so over dramatic about everything and it kind of drives me crazy but on the same time she's really helpful
Can you this video but with drugstore products please please please.
I LITERALLY JUST FOUND YOUR CHANNEL AND I ALREADY LOVE YOU SO MUCH OMG HOW COME I STUMBLED UPON YOU JUST NOW
Possibly my all time favorite video of yours! Ya'll are gorgeous so cater to those of us trying to become french ;p XOXO
ps. GIRLLL It is now summer and it is NOT a game.
I have never heard someone in the south say oil like that ....
Kara Wimbs well now you have
Me either and I'm in Texas
Mari Curls I'm from Texas too, but this is more in the Alabama/Mississippi area
Also, watch Cars 3. Even Tow Mater says OHL.
I'm from South Carolina and everyone here says ole. No one says oil here. Maybe it's not just a southern thing but a state thing too...
Where all my southern girls at?!?!
nina31601 Present! I say oil the same way as she does too. I have to think about saying it right lol
Sarah Walker 🙋🏼🙋🏼🙋🏼🙋🏼 I say oil the same way she does too!

Loved it!! I struggle so much with oily skin and learnt some mistakes I was making watching this video! Thanks!
i set my makeup with a ton of powder and within the next hour my face is tacky again
whenever i use the make up forever stick foundation i get twice as oily
your teeth are looking awesome!!
My nose, forehead, chin, and cheeks (basically my whole face) gets SUPER oily 😭😭help meh
Can u make a video explaining the difference between foundation bb cream cc cream etc.?
dreamer02 go to Mia's channel... (Beauty from within) formerly (Asian Beauty Secrets)

Hello .. Q. Where did you get your palm brush and how much was it?? ^_^
Girl I say oil the same way 😂 #SouthernRaised
1:45 you'll thank me later....
This video has changed my life. Omg you've answered so many of my questions! Thank you!
Ty @lauralee I love how to videos! Reviews are fun but when you can't get your canvas right nothing else matters!
My lil southern belle
What software do you edit with??
ChocolateAndDogs I think she uses Adobe Premiere Pro?
ChocolateAndDogs Final Cut Pro
Wait...do you have oily skin or not? I would rather get advice from someone who has oily skin all year round and has actually tested different techniques and products. Some of the products you used actually make me more oily. 😑
Legit first person that made this so easy. Thank you so much
I LOVE your eye look in this video! Can you do a tutorial on it? Or even what palette you used?
I'm a chemistry teacher born and raised in Savannah, Ga and my students had to teach me how to properly pronounce IRON. 😂😂
Oley skin I'm dead
I'm from Texas and we all say oil the same way! ❤️
Shaun Allen i wish people in my town said it that way! i'm the only one and i always get made fun of for it
Texas is pretty big tho in Dallas and Austin we don't say it like that
Well I’m from East Texas about 3 hours from Dallas

Im from Texas. I don't say it like that.
