No, place it in the bed behind the tailgate. Get to the back of your vehicle on your felony stops. Use the benefit of your A, B, and C Pillar as cover. Distance is your friend. Not to mention the benefit of the deflection you have from the windshield.
These are the best police vehicle Ford has built since the Crown Vic. Our department has 4, and they have been way more reliable than the Explorers and Tauruses. They have tons of space, they’re relatively quick, fuel efficient, and they have weight to push around when needed.

Only two things I would add - #1 - running boards....getting into pickups can be a pain in the butt for shorter people. #2 - Tiger Tough seat covers upfront. Otherwise another awesome build.
You really cleared up some questions I had with the information about Sync. Because I was wondering if it would turn on your traffic advicer which would be counter productive if your vehicle is standing towards the opposite side of traffic then the one you are syncing with. Thanks for clearing that up!
What is the advantage of using the Groove vs say a Cradlepoint or peplink router and modem in one. I see you are running a cell phone booster as well, is this needed with the external antenna of the modem?
Is it possible to buy one of these as a civillian with the obvious things removed? Or do we have to wait til they are retired/if they actually get retired and put on the market? Id love to own one some day. The best vehicle i ever owned was a grand marquis, and while i know its not quite the same as the crown vic, it was still the most fun to drive until i got an f150. Also that eagle decal is the hottest decal ive ever seen. Id love to have a decal like that on my f150.
Considering Ford is still struggling to meet demand, you'll have to wait. My department ordered 5 trucks from Ford in November '22. We're still waiting for them. Luckily, Guardian was able to secure 5 for us and we're in the midst of getting them outfitted now (December '23). Guardian's already delivered one for us and the build is outstanding!
Seems sick, but what is the advantage of this over an SUV? It seems like outside of niche situations like a pure utility vehicle, the lack of speed on this would be a real hinderance.
Depending on the engine setup, these are plenty fast. Most of the ones I’ve built are twin turbo v6s with the 10 speed auto, even the 5.0l with a 10 speed is plenty fast.
These are the Police Responder models. They're plenty fast. I've been driving standard F150s for around 6 years while in the K9 unit. Those stupid things are governed at 95mph.
Is everyone just praising this truck? Because its garbage. Lets see how long it takes for them to run out of juice during a chase. Because that happened to a department that was using tesla.

I don't think this vehicle is supposed to engage in high-speed chases. It's a police responder, not interceptor. May not be pursuit graded, unsure tho
