  • Testing KFConcept Black Mist Filter on lights of Margate Seafront . Black mist filters can be used in video as well as photography . I use a Freewell variable ND/Mist filter for my DJI Pocket 3, used to film this vlog so you may see the street lights bloom in the video as well. I test out this filter on city lights but it is also useful in Woodland photography to give a mystical look to the images and also in portraiture to help smooth skin tones and give a less digital look to videos.

@@stigfloberghagenphotography thanks mate, just a quick test of the filter not really the best location for it but was short of time, which seems to be the theme lately !

Nice shots Lee. I've used one of these for woodland and it can create a nice soft effect, but I think it works best with lights, particularly at night. Also good for portraits and filming video when you want to make any skin blemishes.

I was hoping I would see my car as you drove through Ramsgate to get to Margate 😃. Margate is a great place for photography, wonderful sunsets facing London (West).

Good review and images Lee. Black mist filters can also create some interesting effects on waterfalls if you get a chance to try that out.

Nice review Lee. I've not tried a black mist filter before, it would be good to see it in woodland.

@@AndrewWaltonPhotography thanks mate, woodland is certainly something I need to test this out on, still thinkna light source in the scene is required for the filter to have any effect. Will get out with it again soon I hope. Hope you enjoyed your trip down the West Country mate 👍

@@johnturnerphotography thanks mate, genuinely impressed with their filters so far, much cheaper than other brands but I have not seen any noticeable determination in image quality 👍

Interesting Lee - I’ve seen this used in woodland too and it’s definitely a subtle touch - I hardly use my filters nowadays as I usually bracket and adjust in post with the software being so good (that generative AI image was scary btw) All the best and take care 👍🏻

@@AndrewHamiltonPhotography yes many filters are now easily replicable in photoshop and other software, but I can see why sometimes tou might want to put on a filter and save yourself that step in post . Enjoying your campervan adventures mate 👍

I forgot to say a lot of these filters are somewhat obsolete nowadays Lee, my choice of Camera has built in Filters of various types and with lightroom and photoshop and luminare and various others personally I think they may be phased out gradually, I know this is a subjective view but I think this is where it's going. (K&F filters are not particularly expensive I know).

@@sanclewphotographic Hi mate thanks for the comments, I agree I used to use grad filters but you can get the same results in software nowadays , the black mist was only 1/4 so there is a 1/2 and a full one strength wise , will keep it on me for my next woodland outing see what it does there, thanks again mate, take care.
