The Tamil language is among or the oldest language of the world. Tamil is the only Indian language to be official language in Singapore, Malaysia and Sri Lanka, all that is proof of its great civilization. You Ms. Giulia have bonded so well with the locals so much so seeing the Akka touching you so lovingly when you spoke with her at the hotel makes one feel that we are all a big family.

    Hi Giulia!
Welcome to Chennai! Answering one of your questions, the Tamil movie industry called as Kollywood after the name of Kodambakkam where you can find lots of film studios filming most of the South Indian movies.
    Tamil movie industry - Kollywood
Malayalam (Kerala) movie industry - Mollywood (named after Malayalam language)
Telugu (Andhra Pradesh & Telangana) movie industry - Tollywood (named after Telugu language)
Kannada (Karnataka) movie industry - Sandalwood (named after the place for Sandalwood trees)
I recommend you to visit Hindu temples in and around Chennai, there are hundreds of old Shiva and Vishnu temples with great architectures, and visit Mahabalipuram, Kanchipuram, Muttukkadu backwaters, you can taste the fresh seafoods alongside of the coastal areas.
Enjoy your time in Tamil Nadu!! 👍👍

dude, I don't know of any other place where there are religious fights either. If you are referring to hindu-muslim riots then those are exceptions just like those caste conflicts in Tamil Nadu which are terrible to witness especially increasingly the christian missionaries vs hindu conversions or the dravidian vs brahmins or nasty those caste fight in rural tamil nadu. I would refrain from self-glorification at the expense of rest of India. Chenna is a great city and I hail from there too but have grew up in the north so I had to speak up against falsity. Have a great day and be nice.

@@santhoshv3028 Apologies for long reply but everything you saying is all subjective and I can forgive you as your naivete. Go to any small town or village in tamil nadue and the caste and christian tension is palpable. The dravidian parties there bring things to guttery levels when dealing with caste issues. In fact Tamil nadu politics is deeply entrenched in caste and anti-brahmanisms. Who are you fooling dude ? The fights between PMK vanniyars and Dalits was as recent as 2019. There have been fights between the thevars and the schedule caste Arunthathiyars recently in 2022. In 1925 when Periyar started the anti-brahmin dravid movement it was based on hate of one community. Now the brahmin community has been made powerless and toothless other than some priests in temples which are all being looted and destroyed. The hate has now spread to other OBC castes as the thevars and nadars are the most powerful dominant castes and they are suppressing and subverting the Agamudaiyar, Kallars and Maravars. Some of these were considered criminal tribes during british time and only recently been denotified but the assertion of ones caste thru physical markers has gone up considerably in tamil nadu. Fuel to fire is being added and gaslighted by the left, islamists and especially the missionaries with deep investment and backing of american baptists and catholic conversion groups from abroad and prominent casteist christians in tamil nadu. Don't pretend like its all hunky dory. Even a young kid in tamil nadu is very caste aware. I know this because when I landed in chennai about 10 5 years ago and within 10 mins of landing at the airport and trying to take a taxi the tout at the taxi stand asked me if I was christian. Even though I am south indian my whole family is from mumbai and we all dressed up like north indian and the female members in my family did not have the pottu or the other typical south indian markers.. There was too much caste awarness among common people. If you want to cmpare then compare yourself to kerala or karnataka that too may have caste politics but Tamil Nadu carries it in its sleeve and people are too much on their edge with caste issue. Thanks to the dravidian party that it has turned tamil nadu into a cess pool of hate and lies destroying its culture and identity. So please don't lie to the world deliberately or ignorantly because you choose to not notice it or live under a rock brother.
